— Application Process for the summer of 2009 —

DESCRIPTION
The Walgreens Pharmacy Corporate Internship Program is a great opportunity for student pharmacists to enhance their educational experience with a corporate perspective of community pharmacy. Six students will spend 12 learning-packed weeks at our corporate headquarters, located in Deerfield, Illinois, just north of Chicago. The internship is a full-time program offering a competitive salary and housing. Transportation is the intern's responsibility.

AGENDA
The program consists of three four-week rotations. Samples of previous rotations include:
Pharmacy Services - Provides ongoing strategy development, innovation and supervision to support and enhance the pharmacy department.
Pharmacy Recruitment - Develops and implements programs to attract and retain pharmacists and pharmacy interns.
Prescription Insurance - Works with various third party prescription insurance programs and processors to successfully implement and monitor various plans nationwide.
Pharmacy Governmental Affairs - Reviews state and federal policies and procedures that affect pharmacy operations.
Pharmacy Systems - Develops innovative, customized technological solutions to improve patient care.

Also, the pharmacy interns will join other Walgreen corporate interns in dialogue sessions, presentations by Walgreen corporate managers, several tours and social events

INTERNSHIP DATES
To be eligible, students should be available without conflicts from May 18, 2009 to August 7, 2009.

CRITERIA

• Student pharmacists entering their third or fourth professional year of pharmacy school in the fall of 2009
• Interest in community pharmacy
• Minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
