Walgreen HistoryOur exhibit in the Museum of Science and IndustryA replica of Walgreens first drugstore is on display at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry in the "Yesterday's Main Street" exhibit. Our display debuted in 1986 to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the founding of Walgreens. Early photographs and drawings were used to recreate the façade of this store, which originally stood on the corner of Cottage Grove and Bowen avenues on Chicago's South Side. Built under the direction of the Walgreen Drug Stores Historical Foundation, painstaking care was used to position hundreds of authentic Walgreen artifacts inside the replica. The Museum of Science and Industry is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Chicago and one of the most visited museums in the United States. Our exhibit receives more the 2 million visitors per year. The Museum of Science and Industry |
