“Sniff, sniff”, “ah-choo”, “Gesundheit” – all sounds that prove the cold and flu season is upon us.
While it seems that we can’t control germs from creeping into every public space we enter – busses, subways, schools, office buildings – it’s our duty to fight back. Best attack method? First and foremost, ask questions. This will help insure your health (and happiness) throughout this daunting season. Below, a Walgreens pharmacist gives you three tips to help combat that cold and fight your way through the flu – once and for all.
1. FIND OUT IF IT’S ALLERGIES OR A COLD.
Allergies and colds can both bring stuffy noses and sinus pressure. However, a sore throat, sneezing and a runny nose typically signify the early stages of a cold. Allergy symptoms, on the other hand, mainly include postnasal drip as well as watery and itchy eyes.
2. BE VIGILANT WITH VITAMINS.
Vitamins provide your body with the support it needs to get through the cold season. Not a fan of swallowing pills? Now vitamins come in all different forms so you can choose which works best for you. From gummies to lollipops, you’re bound to find something for everyone in your household.
3. CURTAIL THAT COUGH.
Though your flu symptoms may be subsiding, often times you’re left with a nagging cough. Check the aisles at your local Walgreens for products that are cough suppressants, commonly labeled with “dextromethorphan”, “DXM” or “DX” to get the relief you want and need.
