Sledding. Hot cocoa. Warm fires. These are a few of our favorite wintertime things, and dry skin is not on the list!
The cold can take a toll on your skin during the winter, your face being its main target. But don’t let dry skin get the best of you during the holiday season! Follow these skincare tips to keep you and your family well this winter:
Moisturize. You hear this one over and over again from dermatologists, but we can’t emphasize the importance of hydrating your skin enough! Especially during cold, dry winters! Some facial moisturizers actually dry out your skin in the winter, so it’s important to use a specialized cream to retain moisture. Use a dry skin moisturizer lightly during the day, and apply generously at night.
Take the right vitamins. It’s important to care for your skin from the inside as well as the outside. Pharmacists suggest multivitamins or Vitamin C to help your skin during the winter.
Hook up the humidifier. Home air vents are one of the main culprits when it comes to dry air. By setting up a humidifier in your home, you allow more moisture in the air. This is great for your skin because it prevents dryness break outs. Humidifiers lead to other great benefits such as respiratory wellness, relief of cold and flu symptoms, and overall home air quality.
