Got a New Year’s resolution that you want to stick with this year? Get your head in the game and hit up the gym! But before you start, let us help you with some tips on how to make your workout count:
Set goals. Whether it’s overall physical health or just getting ready for swimsuit season, set goals and limits to your new workout regime. Write it down and post it somewhere you frequent daily. If you have a set mind about what you want out of your resolution, you will get the most out.
Vitamins. It’s important to keep your body well nurtured on the inside so it can look great on the outside. Take multivitamins (women’s or men’s) to keep your body well as you increase physical activity.
Get in to a routine. We all have crazy schedules and it’s hard to find time for the gym. Try and pick a time that works for at least three days a week so that your body becomes used to the new activity. You’ll find the more consistent you are with timing, the more positive you will feel about going to the gym.
Stretch. A lot of people forget to stretch before and after workouts. If you spend 5-10 minutes stretching, you will find that your body will be more willing to take on more activity with less pain.
Hydrate. Try drinking more water during the day, and your body will have an easier time staying hydrated throughout your workouts. But of course, don’t forget a water bottle at the gym to quench thirst.
Post-workout recovery. Finish off your workout strong with a whey protein shake so that you benefit the most from your gym time. The amino acids in whey protein help stimulate muscle growth as your body is in post-workout recovery mode.
