Answer:An NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) is a type of medication that reduces pain (such as from backaches, toothaches, pain from menstrual cramps and headaches), fever, and inflammation. NSAIDs are currently available both over the counter (OTC) and by prescription.

OTC NSAIDs include aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin®), naproxen (Aleve®), and ketoprofen (Orudis® KT).

Acetaminophen, which is available over-the-counter as Tylenol® and other brand-name products, reduces pain and fever, but is not an NSAID.
