Call Center At the Call Center, Member Service Representatives answer patient and pharmacy calls quickly and provide accurate information and service in any way possible with the assistance of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists. Our team uses regularly updated and standardized reference materials to improve efficiency. We implement new client plans and take on the responsibility of all prior authorizations, working closely with Client Services, Provider Relations, Benefits and Accounting departments of WHI. Training for our employees is offered on plan designs, claims processing systems, new drugs, and new dosage forms to provide employees with the most current and accurate information. Desired skills include appropriate education and experience for the position, along with excellent communications skills. Pharmacy knowledge and the ability to speak Spanish are preferable. Clinical Services We are the clinical product development team for Walgreens Health Initiatives, the Walgreen Company and Walgreens Healthcare Plus business units. Our pharmacy professionals are responsible for the development and implementation of patient care programs designed to be sold to employers, managed care organizations and the pharmaceutical industry. Clinical Services performs health outcome analysis of all programs, with the goal of demonstrating the value of pharmacist interventions in optimizing the utilization of healthcare resources and improving patient care outcomes. Leading the industry with innovative programming, current activities include Formulary, Retrospective Drug Utilization Review, Current Drug Utilization Review, Clinical Prior Authorization, Disease Management, Medication Compliance Initiatives, Employer-site Health Initiatives, Health Screenings, Retail-based Pharmaceutical Care Initiatives, Pharmacy Continuing Education and Drug Information. Home Care Sales The Home Care Sales team was developed to market home care services through WHI. Our group acquires and maintains home care service accounts with HMOs, PPOs, hospitals, doctors, case managers and other managed care organizations. As a Home Care company establishing a strong reputation in the healthcare field, we are dedicated to selling services and equipment that improve the quality of life for our patients. Home Care Services Operations Many patients prefer home care over long hospital stays, especially those who need interim or long term medical care. Mail Order Pharmacy Service As the original business of Walgreens Health Initiatives, Walgreens Healthcare Plus, the division's mail order pharmacy service, had profits of $44.5 million in fiscal year 2002. Facilities are located in Orlando, Florida, Tempe, Arizona, and Beaverton, Oregon. Mail Order Service Operations is located at the Walgreens Health Initiatives headquarters in Deerfield, Illinois. The Operations team works on projects involving design and improvements to our in-house pharmacy system, as well as introducing new pharmacy programs to our clients and customers. Responsibilities: Patient interaction / consultation via phones or e-mail responses to Ask a Pharmacist questions through the internet. Process prescription orders for the Walgreens.com on-line pharmacy. Responsible for providing 24/7 support to patients with emergency prescription service through 1-800-WALGREENS or answering questions from Specialty Pharmacy patients "after hours". Qualifications: B.S. or PharmD. in Pharmacy required. Must be an Arizona licensed pharmacist in good standing. Previous Walgreens retail experience preferred. PBM Operations The PBM Operations department is responsible for the design and implementation of our Pharmacy Benefit Management plans. From determining eligibility to creating formularies to developing a network of providers, this group is responsible for the "behind the scenes" undertaking of creating and maintaining superior prescription benefits administration for large employers and health insurance companies. This involves training our clients on how their specific plan works; processing claims for members; auditing for accurate billing by pharmacy providers; determining eligibility criteria for specific plans; implementing new plans and existing plan changes, just to name a few! Individuals with strong organizational and communication skills that possess a positive team attitude are sure to succeed in this department! PBM Sales and Account Management Our Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) Sales and Account Management team is responsible for selling, servicing, and retaining prescription drug benefit program business. We target self-insured employer groups, managed care organizations, third party administrators, benefits consultants, unions, and other groups that offer benefit programs to their members. Our sales professionals are responsible for new business development, sales management, negotiation and execution of contracts. Account management professionals are responsible for the implementation of new plans, consulting on benefit design, developing member communication programs and all aspects of strategic account management for existing clients. Our clinical pharmacists sell and implement clinical programs, and provide ongoing clinical consultation to existing clients. Pharmaceutical Care Center Our Pharmaceutical Care Center team is dedicated to educating our patients and physicians on the most effective and economic treatment options available to them. Pharmacists review our patient information and research new drugs and alternate treatment methods that may be available to patients, and are assisted by licensed pharmacy technicians. Our department contacts physicians and patients to discuss these options with them and answer questions about their medications. We distribute educational mailings about new treatments or pharmaceuticals to patients who receive their prescriptions through our mail order pharmacy and drugstores, or who are enrolled in our Specialty Pharmacy Program. Desired skills include appropriate education and experience for the position, along with computer literacy. Customer service experience and excellent communications skills are a must. Specialty Pharmacy The Specialty Pharmacy department was created to assist those living with chronic illnesses such as Cystic Fibrosis, AIDS and Hepatitis C, in accessing the best quality healthcare available. Our mission is "to provide specialty pharmacy solutions unrivaled in convenience, care and counseling for patients living with chronic health conditions." We work with clinics, organizations and hospitals devoted to treating particular diseases, in order to provide their patients with convenient and comprehensive care. Our clinical staff of licensed Pharmacists are available to counsel patients and recommend treatment options to them and their physicians. Our Operations team helps create marketing tools for the sales group and training programs for the clinical staff. WHI Purchasing Purchasing is responsible for the procurement of all prescription drugs for our Florida and Arizona facilities- more than $240,000,000 worth of pharmaceuticals for each facility annually. We are always developing new processes to lower inventory levels and maintain high inventory turnover. Our corporate staff includes a director, re-order buyers and a coordinator. We interact most frequently with the Accounting Department on invoicing issues. Daily orders are placed with our Wholesaler and monthly orders with Generic Vendors.
