Common Uses:

This medicine is a keratolytic agent with antibacterial actions used to treat acne.

Before Using This Medicine:

Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are using other skin products or acne medicines. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about using this medicine.

How to Use This Medicine:

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor or on the package. TO USE THE GEL WASH: wet the affected area. Use your hands to apply the medicine and gently wash. Rinse with water and pat dry. Wash your hands after using this medicine. TO USE THE GEL: wash and completely dry the affected area. Gently rub the medicine in until it is evenly distributed. Wash your hands after using this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.

Cautions:

DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE IF you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine. CERTAIN ACNE PRODUCTS that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can rarely cause serious and sometimes life-threatening allergic reactions or severe irritation. Before first use, you may need to follow certain steps to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction. Use this medicine as you were told by your doctor or read the package label. Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor. USE ON THE SKIN ONLY. Avoid getting this medicine in your eyes, eyelids, on the inside of your nose or mouth, on highly inflamed or damaged skin, or on your lips. If you get this medicine in your eyes, immediately wash them out with cool tap water. AVOID APPLYING THIS MEDICINE TO raw or irritated skin, including sunburns or open wounds. SEVERAL WEEKS MAY PASS BEFORE YOU SEE IMPROVEMENT in your acne. Continue to use this medicine for the full time recommended by your doctor. If your acne does not improve or if it gets worse, check with your doctor. TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE YOU USE any other medicines, special cleansers, aftershave, or cosmetics on your skin. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE YOU TO BECOME SUNBURNED more easily. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to this medicine. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing if you must be outside for more than a short time. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE BLEACHING. Avoid contact with hair, fabrics, or carpeting. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINES, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IT IS NOT KNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE CAN CAUSE HARM to the fetus. IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using this medicine while you are pregnant. IT IS NOT KNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS FOUND in breast milk after topical use. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you use this medicine, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.

Possible Side Effects:

SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include dryness; feeling of warmth; irritation; itching; peeling; redness; or stinging. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience excessive burning, itching, irritation, peeling, redness, or tenderness of your skin; extreme dryness; or swelling. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your health care provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Overdose:

If overdose is suspected contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include excessive scaling or redness, or swelling at the application site. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

Additional Information:

DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and pets. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
