Common Uses:

This medicine is an anticholinergic used to treat overactive bladder in patients who frequently experience symptoms such as an urgent need to urinate, a need to urinate often, or leakage of urine when there is an urgent need to urinate. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Before Using This Medicine:

Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking a solid oral potassium product (eg, tablet). ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking azole antifungals (eg, itraconazole, ketoconazole), protease inhibitors (eg, boceprevir, ritonavir), macrolide antibiotics (eg, clarithromycin, erythromycin), nefazodone, telithromycin, or any medicine that may increase the risk of a certain type of irregular heartbeat (prolonged QT interval). Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure if any of your medicines may increase the risk of this type of irregular heartbeat. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including stomach or bowel problems, constipation, difficulty urinating, a weak urine stream, narrow-angle glaucoma, liver or kidney problems, a history of heart problems (eg, QT prolongation), allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, severe liver problems, slow or delayed emptying of your stomach (gastric retention), or you are unable to urinate. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine.

How to Use This Medicine:

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine comes with a patient information leaflet. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. TAKE THIS MEDICINE with a full glass of water. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C), away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. Take this medicine regularly to receive the most benefit from it. Taking this medicine at the same time each day will help you to remember. CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take 2 doses on the same day.

Cautions:

DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. This medicine may cause drowsiness or blurred vision. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, along with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR AT ONCE if you experience severe stomach pain or if you are constipated for 3 or more days. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DECREASED SWEATING. Do not become overheated in hot weather or while you are being active; heatstroke may occur. Contact your doctor if you have been exposed to high temperatures and you develop fever; flushing; hot, dry skin; severe or persistent headache; dizziness; sudden or severe tiredness or weakness; fast heartbeat; seizures; or fainting. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DRY MOUTH. To help relieve dry mouth, suck on sugarless hard candy or ice chips, chew sugarless gum, drink water, or use a saliva substitute. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. A SERIOUS SIDE EFFECT CALLED ANGIOEDEMA has been reported with the use of this medicine. Contact your doctor at once if you develop swelling of the hands, face, lips, eyes, throat, or tongue; difficulty swallowing or breathing; or hoarseness. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Use this medicine with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects. PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: IF YOU ARE PREGNANT or you are planning on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS NOT KNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS FOUND in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking this medicine.

Possible Side Effects:

SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include blurred vision, constipation, dry mouth, indigestion, or stomach upset. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience confusion; constipation lasting 3 or more days; decreased sweating; difficult or painful urination; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations; mood or mental changes (eg, depression); redness or peeling of the skin; severe dizziness, tiredness, or nausea; severe stomach pain; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet; or unusual or severe headache. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, throat, or tongue; or unusual hoarseness. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your health care provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Overdose:

IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms may include blurred vision; enlarged pupils; severe drowsiness; tremors; unusually dry skin.

Additional Information:

DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. IF YOU WILL BE USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, be sure to obtain necessary refills before your supply runs out.
