Common Uses:

This medicine is a sympathomimetic bronchodilator used to treat breathing problems in patients who have asthma or certain other airway diseases. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Before Using This Medicine:

Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you are using another short-acting sympathomimetic bronchodilator (eg, pirbuterol). ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking beta-blockers (eg, atenolol, propranolol), digoxin, or diuretics (eg, furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide). Tell your doctor if you are taking linezolid, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (eg, phenelzine), or a tricyclic antidepressant (eg, amitriptyline), or if you have taken one of these medicines within the last 14 days. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including a history of heart problems (eg, fast or irregular heartbeat, heart failure), blood vessel problems, high blood pressure, low blood potassium levels, thyroid problems, diabetes, seizures, kidney problems, adrenal gland tumor (pheochromocytoma), allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you have ever had an unusual reaction to another sympathomimetic medicine (eg, pseudoephedrine), such as fast or irregular heartbeat, overexcitement, or severe trouble sleeping. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.

How to Use This Medicine:

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. An additional patient information leaflet is available with this medicine. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this information. THIS MEDICINE is for inhalation only. Do not get it in the eyes. If you get it in the eyes, rinse immediately with cool tap water. DO NOT use this medicine if it contains particles, is cloudy or discolored, or if the container is cracked or damaged. TO USE this medicine if it comes in a bottle: Draw the prescribed amount of medicine into the specially marked dropper that comes with each bottle. Squeeze the medicine into the nebulizer reservoir through the appropriate opening, taking care not to touch the tip of the dropper. Add sterile saline solution or other medicine as directed by your doctor. Gently swirl the nebulizer to mix the contents. TO USE this medicine if it comes in a vial: Remove a vial from the foil pouch. Place the remaining vials back into the pouch for storage. Twist open the top of the vial and pour the entire contents into the nebulizer reservoir. CONNECT THE NEBULIZER reservoir to the mouthpiece or face mask. Connect the nebulizer to the compressor. Sit in a comfortable, upright position. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth (or put on the face mask) and turn on the nebulizer. Breathe as calmly, deeply, and evenly as possible until no more mist is formed in the nebulizer chamber (about 5 to 15 minutes). DO NOT MIX this medicine with other medicines in the nebulizer unless directed otherwise by your doctor. CLEAN THE NEBULIZER according to the instructions. Failure to properly clean the nebulizer could lead to bacteria entering the medicine. This may lead to an infection. To avoid bacteria entering the medicine, use the entire contents right after opening the vial for the first time. STORE THIS MEDICINE in the refrigerator or at room temperature between 36 and 77 degrees F (2 and 25 degrees C). If your medicine comes in vials, store in the protective foil pouch at all times. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not freeze. Do not store in the bathroom. Do not use after the expiration date on the container or box. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. DO NOT STOP using this medicine without checking with your doctor. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE and you are using it regularly, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.


DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. This medicine should work for up to 6 hours. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or use more often than prescribed without checking with your doctor. The risk of severe heart problems and sometimes death may be increased with overuse of this medicine. IF YOUR USUAL DOSE DOES NOT WORK WELL, your symptoms become worse, or you need to use it more often than normal, contact your doctor at once. This may be a sign of seriously worsening asthma. Your doctor may need to change your dose or medicine. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using this medicine. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine. TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST about all of your inhaled and/or asthma medicines and how to use them. Do not start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine unless your doctor tells you to. THIS MEDICINE MAY SOMETIMES CAUSE severe breathing problems right after you use a dose. If this happens, seek medical care at once. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS. This effect may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use this medicine with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DRY MOUTH or an unpleasant taste in your mouth. Rinsing your mouth with water after each dose may help to relieve these effects. WHEN YOUR MEDICINE supply begins to run low, call your doctor or pharmacy as soon as possible for a refill. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. CAUTION IS ADVISED WHEN USING THIS MEDICINE IN THE ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medicine. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. DIABETES PATIENTS: This medicine may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely and ask your doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine.

Possible Side Effects:

SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include cough, dizziness, headache, nausea, nervousness, runny or stuffy nose, sore or dry throat, tremor, trouble sleeping, or unusual taste in mouth. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience chest pain; decreased coordination; fast breathing; fast or irregular heartbeat; muscle pain, weakness, or cramping; new or worsened breathing problems (eg, shortness of breath; wheezing); pounding in the chest; severe or persistent headache or dizziness; severe or persistent nausea or vomiting; severe or unusual drowsiness; sluggishness; or voice changes. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing or swallowing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, throat, or tongue; or unusual hoarseness. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include chest pain; fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; muscle pain, weakness, or cramping; seizures; severe or persistent dizziness, dry mouth, fatigue, headache, lightheadedness, nausea, nervousness, or trouble sleeping; severe or unusual drowsiness; or tremor.

Additional Information:

If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor. Carry an identification card at all times that states you are taking this medicine. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out. CHECK WITH YOUR PHARMACIST about how to dispose of unused medicine.
