Common Uses: This medicine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory eye drop used to treat pain and swelling of the eyes in patients who have recently had surgery to remove cataracts. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Before Using This Medicine: Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking anticoagulants (eg, warfarin), heparin, or corticosteroids (eg, prednisolone). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including other eye problems (eg, dry eye syndrome, cornea problems), diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, bleeding problems, asthma, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you have had complicated eye surgery or have had repeated eye surgeries within a short period of time. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED during late pregnancy. Contact your doctor if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
How to Use This Medicine: Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TO USE THIS MEDICINE, wash your hands. Tilt your head back. Using your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Drop the medicine into the pouch and gently close your eyes. Do not blink. Remove excess medicine around your eye with a clean tissue, being careful not to touch your eye. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. TO PREVENT GERMS from entering your medicine, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface, including your eye. Keep the container tightly closed. DO NOT ADMINISTER THIS MEDICINE while wearing contact lenses. Talk to your doctor about proper use of this medicine if you usually wear contact lenses. IF YOU ARE USING OTHER MEDICINE that you put in your eye, use this medicine at least 5 minutes before or after using the other medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C) in a tightly closed container away from heat and light. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. Use this medicine regularly to receive the most benefit from it. Using this medicine at the same times each day will help you to remember. CONTINUE TO USE THIS MEDICINE for the full course of treatment even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT use 2 doses at once.
Cautions: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. Tell your doctor before you use this medicine if you have had a severe allergic reaction (eg, severe rash, hives, difficulty breathing, dizziness) to aspirin or any medicine that contains aspirin, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) (eg, ibuprofen), or a phenylacetic acid derivative. THIS MEDICINE CONTAINS SULFITES, which can cause allergic reactions in certain individuals. Asthma patients may be at higher risk for these allergic reactions. If you have previously had an allergic reaction to sulfites, contact your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or take this medicine for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using this medicine. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR if you have an eye wound or irritation that does not heal. BEFORE YOU BEING TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: This medicine may cause harm to the fetus. IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. AVOID USE OF THIS MEDICINE during late pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Possible Side Effects: SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include eye irritation, burning, stinging, pain, itching, redness, or swelling; unusual feeling in the eye; or headache. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience severe eye irritation, burning, stinging, itching, redness, or swelling; vision changes; or unusual bleeding of the eye, especially after eye surgery. An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. Overdose: IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Additional Information: If your symptoms do not improve within 14 days or if they become worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. CHECK WITH YOUR PHARMACIST about how to dispose of unused medicine.
