Common Uses:

This medicine is a prostaglandin analog used for treating increased pressure in the eye (ocular hypertension) and open-angle glaucoma in patients who cannot use other treatment options or do not respond to other medicine.

Before Using This Medicine:

Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including inflammation in the eye (eg, iritis, uveitis); swelling, infection, or injury of the eye; other types of glaucoma (eg, narrow-angle, neovascular); allergies; pregnancy; or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you do not have a lens in your eye, if you have had the lens in your eye replaced, or if you will be having eye surgery. Use of this medicine in CHILDREN under age 16 is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving this medicine to your child. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.

How to Use This Medicine:

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Use this medicine in the evening unless your doctor tells you otherwise. REMOVE CONTACT LENSES before using this medicine. Wait at least 15 minutes after using this medicine before inserting your lenses. TO USE THIS MEDICINE, first, wash your hands. Tilt your head back and with your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Turn the bottle upside down and allow a drop to form on the tip. Gently tap the bottle to allow the drop to fall into the pouch, look downward and gently close your eyes. Immediately use your finger to apply pressure at the corner of the eye near the nose and continue to apply gentle pressure for 1 or 2 minutes after using the medicine. Do not blink and keep your eyes closed for 1 or 2 minutes. Remove excess medicine around your eye with a clean tissue, being careful not to touch your eye. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. If you need to administer 2 drops or any other kind of eye medicine, wait 5 minutes before administering the second drop or other medicine. TO PREVENT GERMS from entering your medicine, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface, including your eye. STORE THIS MEDICINE between 36 and 77 degrees F (2 and 25 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container away from heat, moisture, and light. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. Continue to use this medicine even if you feel well. Do NOT miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

Cautions:

DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic reaction to it or if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or use more often than you were told without checking with your doctor. IF YOU WILL BE HAVING EYE SURGERY, tell your doctor that you use this medicine. HAVE YOUR EYE PRESSURE checked as you were told by your doctor. This medicine may cause blurred vision or make your eyes more sensitive to light. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to this medicine. If your eyes become sensitive to light, wearing sunglasses may help. THIS MEDICINE IS FOR USE IN THE EYE ONLY. Do not get it in your nose or mouth. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE THE COLORED PART OF YOUR EYE (IRIS) TO TURN BROWN. This change may be permanent. It may not be noticeable for several months to years. If it occurs, you will need to have regular eye examinations. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE YOUR EYELIDS AND EYELASHES TO DARKEN. This change may be reversible in some patients. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE CHANGES IN THE WAY THAT YOUR EYELASHES GROW (eg, length, thickness, number of lashes). These changes are usually reversible after the medicine is stopped. Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR if you develop an eye infection or if you injure your eye. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy. It is unknown if this medicine is excreted in breast-milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using this medicine, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Possible Side Effects:

SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include bloodshot eyes; blurred vision; changes in eyelash growth; eye dryness, itching, or discomfort; feeling of having something in your eye; headache; increased tear production. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience chest pain; darkening of the eyelid or eye color; eye or eyelid crusting, discharge, inflammation, irritation, pain, or swelling; severe headache or dizziness; slow heartbeat; or vision changes. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. Overdose:

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

Additional Information:

TO PREVENT WASTE WHEN USING THIS MEDICINE, do not squeeze the bottle. Turn bottle right side up immediately after a drop is released. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out. CHECK WITH YOUR PHARMACIST about how to dispose of unused medicine.
