Facial Scrub

One of the quickest ways to improve the texture of your skin is to use a facial scrub. Your skin is constantly producing new skin cells. Unfortunately, the dead ones aren't always sloughed quickly enough. As a result, they can build up. This is especially true as we get older and skin cell regeneration and sloughing slows down. Facial scrubs contain ingredients that lift away dead skin cells that cause your skin to look dull. Face scrubs may be helpful if you suffer from congested pores. They help remove dead skin cells that clog pores and contribute to pimples and blackheads. Facial scrubs also wash away impurities like oil, traces of make-up and bacteria. You may notice your skin looks smoother and brighter after using a facial scrub. That's because dead skin cells have been sloughed off and "fresher" skin cells underneath are visible.

Types of Facial Scrubs

Not all facial scrubs are the same. Some are better for certain skin types than others. Facial scrubs for dry skin are usually made with moisturizing ingredients that help your skin hold onto water. Oily and blemish-prone skin can benefit from a deep-cleansing facial scrub that's oil-free and non-comedogenic. A gentle scrub with rounded beads works best for sensitive skin. There is a variety of beauty formulations available. Most facial scrubs are used after a cleanser and contain tiny granules that massage your skin while lifting away dead skin cells. Some skin care products have added ingredients like essential oils, herbs, fruit or fruit enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants, oatmeal or honey. These ingredients help to brighten your complexion and improve the texture of your skin. A facial scrub is ideal for "waking up" your skin so you look and feel more refreshed. Use one before a special occasion when you want your skin to look its best. Facial scrubs can cause minor skin irritation in some people. This is more common if you have sensitive skin. Always choose a facial scrub that's right for your skin type and follow the directions on the container. If you experience redness or irritation, you may be using an exfoliating scrub too often or too aggressively or using a product that's not right for your skin type. If the redness or irritation persists, talk to your dermatologist.
