This product did exactly what the box said. I am blonde and I wanted to go slightly darker but it turned my blonde to a very strong ash. I read the reviews and decided to try it out. Well yes it smells bad, but nothing you can't tolerate. It took the ash out of my hair and brought me to a very pretty blonde. I thought that I would have to at least do a touch up of my roots but I didn't have to it looks as if I just dyed my hair. I would definately use this product again and yes I highly recommend this product.

My natural hair color is a sandy blonde. i dyed it dark brown and it faded. So I then dyed it BLACK! Im pale white and it made me look like a vampire. I didn't want to damage it with bleach so i tried the Color Oops. I had to get 2 boxes because my hair is a little past my shoulders. The stuff smells like boiled eggs, but so what it works! Its a little watery, so i leaned over the sink and applied it all over very quickly. Then rubbed it through real good. piled it on top and put a shower cap on. after the 20 min. i rinsed for a while.. shampooed rinsed.. shampooed rinsed again and then conditioned real good then rinsed. The shoe polish black was gone! Now it's an auburn color and so healthy! i might go get 2 more boxes and repeat to get it back to the dark blonde. Just get a real good deep conditioner and leave it on while the hot water warms back up, then do a final rinse. Do not buy any bleach products, they cause damage. Color Ooops has NO Bleach.

My hair is naturally dark but I have been going to a professional salon for several years getting blonde color and highlights. I got tired of the cost of keeping it up and how fast my dark roots would grow out, so one day I decided to get some non permanent hair color and dye my hair back dark. Well I messed up. My hair ended up being jet black. It would not wash out. Thank goodness for Color OOps. I used it and it got the jet black out. It didnt go back to being blonde but the golden brown was much better than jet black. It worked great and didnt damage my hair. I kept rinsing it good just like it said. It is a life saver.

I have used this stuff a few times.the first time was when I dyed my hair black.after a week of it black and calling many salons to see how much to get the black out,which would of cost over $100.00 to get it done.I found this and in one day the black was gone.it turned my hair into a light brown/blonde.I love this stuff and use it when I want to start over with a knew color.

I bought this after reading all the great reviews, however, after sitting in the stench for 20 minutes, spending 25 minutes in a lukewarm shower, and conditioning my newly brittle hair, it didn't take any of the color out! I still have light brown roots, and jet black hair. What a waste! Do not buy!!!

My naturally dark brown hair turned black when an inexperienced stylist attempted to give me a deeper shade of chocolate brown for the winter using a permanent Level 3 dye. I washed it 3 times hoping it would fade out, but it didn't in the least. The only solution the salon could offer was to bleach it out.

I have had this happen before and had to resort to bleach which left my hair dry, brittle and broken. Luckily this time I found this product instead and used it about 3 days after it was colored. The application was as easy as an at-home coloring kit and I thought the smell wasn't as bad as other reviewers claimed. I left it on the exact amount of time specified and rinsed it out for about 20 minutes in the shower. The product allegedly lifts the dye particles from your hair so you can rinse them off. Your rinse water will be saturated with color, so be prepared for that. If you choose NOT to rinse it in the shower, you might want to enlist the help of a friend because your arms will get tired.

Fully rinsing it out is key - according to the package, if you neglect to rinse it long enough, the dye particles will reattach themselves to your hair and the color will return. Even after 20 minutes of rinsing, I did see this happen - within a few hours my hair darkened a little.

The product eventually lightened my hair to a splotchy medium orange brown which I was then able to fully and evenly cover up with a dark brown dye about 4 hours later. When that new semi-permanent dye faded out months later, the splotchy orange color did not reappear - no show-through occurred whatsoever.

My hair felt a little brittle afterwards, but not nearly as bad as the after-effects of bleach. No doubt the chemicals in this product are harsh, but in my personal experience, bleach is worse.

I later mentioned this product to my new stylist who never heard of it. She was skeptical of its results and wasn't interested in offering it as a solution to her other clients, claiming that bleach was better. Perhaps she was just protecting the salon's business and income? After that discussion, I vowed to post a review to spread the good news that stylists are trying to hide.

Ladies, if you're left with color you hate and you've been told that bleach is the only option, try this first. Just be sure to follow the directions exactly and rinse, rinse, rinse!

I'm 60 and have been coloring my partially grey for a while now with med ash brown - my color. Decided to try dk. burgundy. OMG - turned black w/ burgandy in sun. I looked like a stupid old lady. My hair is very fine and I was afraid but I read most of the reviews and tried it. I was amazed that it worked and didn't fry my baby fine hair. I didn't even think it smelled that aweful and certainly didn't after - I did follow the instructions for rinsing. I didn't even use new dye after cause the color is okay - a little brassy but definately can live with the color and wanted to let my hair recover. The only negative I found was that it did drip after about 10 minutes so just be careful of that. Excellent product.

This product was difficult to use because it is so runny! It smells terrible and the smell does not even go away when you wash it out! It did not remove all the color from my hair and left me with a nasty brassy Orange color and my previously silky smooth hair now feels rough and damaged! I would never recommend this product to someone and will not use it again!

I am reaaaaallyyyy impressed with this product. My hair came out too dark, it was almost black. I picked up one box of Color Oops at CVS, and used it once I got home. Amazing.

1.) It is gentle, and after I washed out the product, my hair felt very silky. I thought it would damage my hair, because it lightened it so much, but it honestly didn't. It felt like it does when I get out of the shower after conditioning it.

2.) It DID lighten my hair, to a light brown with even a blond base. It was pretty much my natural hair color again.

3.) I like it because you can dye your hair the same day after you've used Color Oops, that's how gentle it is. It isn't like bleach. I have used bleach in my hair to lighten it before, and it was HORRIBLE. So dry, like hay, and springy like rubber-bands. Color Oops was super gentle...

The only negative thing about this product, was the odor, but it really wasn't even that bad. It kind of smelled like eggs, but that's nothing a little yummy smelling shampoo can't fix. Overall, I love this. I do recommend it 100%.

I am a natural redhead..mature lady, the color now fading I freshen it up with Preference...tried a difference color from neutrise..Yikes big mistake turned pinky/orange...Color OOps, realy saved the day, in 20 min, bad color gone and back to a clean reddish blond. I used Triple Moisture, conditioner from Neutrogena, left on for several minutes. My hair came out silky and fresh. Also I don't find the smell of Color oops any worse than hair color. Good Luck

I am a natural red head. I always wanted to dye my hair jet black, but was too attached to my natural hair color to do so. I went jet black anyways because I thought I'd like it and quickly got tired of it. I used semi-permanent first, and when it started to fade I put permanent on top of that. I found this product and read the reviews last night. I purchased Color Ooops today and just finished the process. Application is very easy. Rinse time is 20 minutes (with an additional 5 after shampooing again) which was a bit of a pain because my hot water started to run out, but after all was said and done it worked great. It left no traces of black in my hair. The only bad thing is that it smells funny, but not as bad as other reviews claim. It's comparable to the bad smell experience of dying your hair in the first place, so it's nothing you shouldn't be familiar with.

After my goth phase ended, all that was left was the black hair. As anyone who has dyed their hair black knows, it covers everything. Having long since tired of it, I tried Color Oops.

The good: It was incredibly easy to use. I did add the use of my space heater for a little heat application to boost the process. The black came out to a lovely deep reddish brown, which is darker than my natural shade but much less boring. I didn't even need to re-dye.

The bad: My roommate might want to kill me for making the bathroom smell like the pits of Hades. Also, my hair is quite dry afterwards, so get a good deep conditioner for after. Also, expect your water heater to not last the full rinse cycle.

All told, a process, but I love the lack of the Morticia black! Two years of permanent black dye, gone in one fell swoop.

I was trying to color my hair back to my natural color (medium brown) for family pictures, instead it turned BLACK. I hated the color so i found this online by accident and went straight to the store. Yes it smells bad but who cares! It works! At first i was scared before i washed it out but after i did it already looked a million times better. with in 2 days of washing and rinsing repeatadly it's back to natural! I've not had any problems with the texture of my hair. Follow the directions... rinse A LOT, and use a lot of conditioner. I have a slight redish tint to my hair but it looks great. Also, it's very thin so make sure u have towels. It made it easier to work through hair though! And use and old towel.... it's gonna smell really bad.

I accidently dyed my hair goth black, and I tried everything to get it out because I decided I want to go blonde. I came across this product read mixed reviews so I decided to man up and do it tonight. I followed the directions, left it on for 20 minutes and then took a shower and rinsed over and over and it brought my hair to a nice light brown/ strawberry blonde color. Very tolerable, I'm going to leave it for a few days before I bleach it. Overall I loved the product. Oh, and for those people saying that the smell lingers on your hair, it does NOT, I showered adn washed my hair 2 times and my hair smells like shampoo, so I'm not sure if you just weren't washing it or waht but it worked for me just fine.

My hair is afro natural and going a bit gray in the front. I dyed it with a semi permanent color from Natural Instincts which turned my hair gothic black. I didn't like it but I put up with it thinking it would wash out eventually. There I was almost a year later and it still hadn't washed out. I finally applied this stuff and what everyone says about the smell is true. It made my hair smell like burnt rubber. It removed most of the color, enough to remind me that my hair is actually dark brown and not black. The grays though, they are still darkly stained at the ends. The stuff didn't damage my hair at all. The damage comes from having to wash it over and over to get rid of the smell. Ick! I might actually try this again in a few to see if it will remove what's left. Not sure if it's worth it though at this point. We'll see.

I received a bad hair color from a national salon that is named after a famous Talk show host in NYC. Anyways, I used this product and it will only work on hair that is a level 6-10( lighter hair texture that has been colored darker. If you are starting out with a level 1-5 darker hair color that has been lightened( highlights ect) it will only make your lightened hair a orange color. Overall, this product is great for hair that is light and has been colored darker, to remove that color. Not reccomended for dark hair that has been lightened to go back to your regular hair color. It will only make it orange/ red tones. Another key to this product is please rinse, rinse, rinse to remove as much chemical as possible. try and rinse like 20 minutes. I had to lay on the countertop near the kitchen sink, and have someone rinse this chemical off for 20 minutes before shampooing. trust me please rinse. Also this product will make your hair soft. Which was nice, but still left my highlights orange/red. Go back then and color darker for levels 1-5 hair. levels 6-10 can leave it as is. Make sure to condition hair too.

in march (which was about 10 months ago), i got hideous blonde highlights on my already dyed medium brown hair. my hair was dyed to my natural color, but i have dyed it many times before that. once i got the highlights, i HATED them. i decided to go to a different salon the next day, and dye my hair dark brown with a little tint of auburn to cover the highlights. you guessed it, came out pitch black. at the time i didn't care, i was soo happy to get rid of the blonde. but of course, the black would not get lighter, and every single time i tried to dye it lighter, it would just get darker. i got tired of dying my roots, and the darkness. after reading though hundreds of reviews, i finally purchased 2 boxes of color oops, since my hair is way past shoulder length. i also bought a box of medium brown hair dye, just in case. i left it in for the recommended 20 minutes, then rinsed and shampooed over and over and over. i rinsed for a good 40 minutes total. rinsing is VERY important! the color oops itself was very runny, almost like water..so i decided to throw on my bathing suit and apply it all in the shower. i then deep conditioned me hair once i was done rinsing. as for the final results, a very dark brown color with an auburnish tint. i was hoping it would lighten my hair a little closer to my natural medium brown color, because my roots are still noticeably lighter then the rest of my hair, but with all of the dark dying that i've done to it, i was VERY happy with the results after just one treatment. i didn't think anything would be able to take the blackness out of my hair except for bleaching. i am happy with the results, i did not even have to redye it. i would like to use color oops again maybe in a few weeks to lighten it even more, but as of right now i'm perfectly happy with how it is. i'm sure that if i didn't dye it so much from the time i got it dyed black, it would be even lighter. the one negative thing about this product was the smell. the smell itself was bad, but not as bad as some people describe it, but it did smell up the whole upstairs of my house which was unpleasant but it was so worth it. here is a link to a picture i took, right before i used color oops, and then after. my hair has layers and layers of dye on it, so i'm sure it will take a few treatments to lighten it to my natural color. I dyed my hair darkest brown, and the result was totally jet, coal, goth black. Nothing brown about it. I used Color Oops (did the strand test even!) and left it on for 15 minutes. The rinse time is crazy long, but I was strict about it. I now have dark brown hair. I was warned by co-workers that I'd need to recolor immediately, but I don't have to at all. It looks GREAT!

This product is a GREAT buy!!!It saved me from walking around with Elvira hair! I had long highlighted, light brown hair - then I decided to go to a dark brown. Which, surprise: turned out black! I bought 2 boxes of the Color Oops product, and my hair is now the perfect shade I was trying for in the first place: a chcolate/reddish brown. I could not be happier. It is a little smelly, but hey - I would put up with anything that worked to fix a hair disaster! Heads up - rinse the WHOLE time it tells you to, and don't be alarmed when you don't actually "see' the dark color rinsing out; it is still working!

I dyed my hair tonight from dirty blonde to a medium brown color, except it came out JET black. I was very upset and my friend told me about Color Oops. I went and bought it [$] tried it on a strip of hair and it worked. I applied it to my whole head and it brought the black right out! It left my hair darker than when I started and with more of a red tint, but I don't mind as long as it's not black. I had to touch up a few spots that were still black and rewash my hair, but it worked well and i'm pleased. Alright guys; here's the scoop. Like many of the other women, I (a natural medium brunette) died my hair and it came out a shade of mortifying, goth black. Desperate to correct it, I was left with no choice but to use a color remover because color lighteners are not nearly as reliable or gentle on your hair. After reading the good, bad, and ugly of the reviews, I decided (very apprehensively) to bite the bullet and grab some of this stuff. Now, there's quite a few things you need to keep in mind; 1.) Buy TWO boxes if your hair is shoulder length or longer (or if it's really thick) because you do NOT want this to be splotchy! 2.) A lot of the "bad reviewers" mention such things as their hair turning brassy or orange, or even their dark color returning after awhile… I honestly do not know why they are surprised because it clearly states in the instructions that these things are possible. 3.) Rinse, rinse, RINSE! Do NOT skimp on rinsing (and shampooing repeatedly!) because it is a vital part of this process. Even if your arms feel like they are going to fall off, do not stop after five or ten minutes. The whole point of this process is that it shrinks the dye molecules to the point where you can rinse it back out, thus if you do not meticulously rinse, your hair will not lighten OR (like I mentioned earlier) your undesired hair color will return after awhile due to leftover dye molecules. I would recommend that ANYONE with shoulder length or really thick hair should shampoo and rinse for thirty minutes… the more the better. 4.) Yes, this stuff does smell horrible but it's merely unpleasant, not unbearable. Also it is the consistency of "elephant snot" as a previous reviewer mentioned but it makes it much easier to work through your hair quickly. The instructions state that once the two bottles are mixed, you need to swiftly work through your hair because the mixture will begin to oxidize rapidly. Basically, I suggest doing this quickly and somewhere where you don't care if it smells like rotten eggs for a couple of days (i.e. NOT your bedroom or bathroom, if feasible). Personally, I would rather put up with the stench than have goth hair for a long time. 5.) Lastly, this stuff WILL work for you if you just read the instructions. If you are hesitant, I recommend that you give this stuff a try. Even if it does turn your hair orange or brassy, don't be alarmed, and have a box or two of extra dye on hand of your desired color and no one will ever see it. Also, one last thing to keep in mind as well, hair will be SUPER porous due to this process (it will grab new color much more easily and turn darker as a result) so make sure you either snatch a color that's a little bit lighter than you would pick or make sure to condition your hair like mad afterwards (by soaking your hair in a protein dense conditioner and leaving it under a shower cap for thirty minutes or more).
As a Walgreen's Beauty Advisor (beautician and cosmetics cashier) I would advise this to anyone that has had a "boo boo" because even if it doesn't turn it back to your natural color, it's gentle enough where you can dye it the very same day. I cannot stress enough to the READ THE INSTRUCTIONS though! :)

My natural Hair color is Dark Blonde, I decided to go Light/Med Brown for a few years now and just 2 weeks ago I tried to dye it a little darker brown and it turned BLACK! I looked horrible!
I asked a salon stylist what would be the best thing to do and she said they would have to basically bleach it, remove my natural pigment from my hair! I did not like that so I decided to sulk for a few days, not wanting to go to work. My co-worker told me about Color Oops, going back to my original color without bleaching or removing natural pigment from my hair!
It did what exactly advertised. I didn't think it would go back to natural, just because I've been dying it for all these years, but one box removed most the color, then the other completely gave me my natural color back!
Color Oops is a LIFESAVER! Defiantly will use again if I have to.

I have dark brown hair with natural reddish in it. I dyed it non-permanent midnight black about a month ago. I got color oops earlier today and just got done recently using it. My hair is now drying. My mom says she can see my natural color and that it's not as black. I can't really tell yet. I may use the other box tomorrow. I guess it's OK. DID NOT turn my hair white or orange. Granted it's not completely dry but I don't think the color will change much.

I dyed my hair black (non-permanent) for part of my Halloween costume and then got sick of looking like an emo/goth chick. So! I decided I'd permanent-dye it light brown. What I got was about 1/4" light orange roots with black hair. I panicked and literally called every salon in this city and the next (about 30 salons) and they were all closed - it being a Sunday and all. I was seriously considering calling in sick to work tomorrow lol Then my best friend told me about Color Oops. I figured it was worth a shot and [$] was a heck of a lot better than 150+ I'd be spending at the salon. The results? So close to my natural hair color it's scary! Okay 3 weeks ago I decided to have my hair professionally dyed back to the color of my natural hair, which is dark brown. My hair came out black. i used a semi permanent black hair coloring product and it was supposed to wash out in 6-8 weeks which didn't happen so i decided to remove it myself and bought color oops...i followed the directions the right way,the product smelled horrible i kept wanting to puke from it the whole time,and i was angry to see it didn't even work!! don't buy it if you're trying remove black hair dye,it won't work!!and dispose of the bottle you mixed it in immediately in an outside trash can,it will make your whole house smell bad!!

I had my dishwater blonde hair professionally colored to a reddish brown, complete with purple highlights. It was fun for a few days, but not something I could live with long term. Color Oops took me to a really nice strawberry blonde - not my natural color but I didn't care. It looked and felt great. After about ten days of my normal shampooing, I noticed even the strawberry blonde was washing out, and now I really am back to a darker, natural blonde. I am sooooo happy. Thanks you Color Oops. I didn't have to go back to the salon or spend a fortune on color correction. And yes, the smell is unfortunate, but no worse than a perm. It's a small price to pay!

I have very light red hair with not grey but rather bright white all over. I decided to try and go one shade darker than my normal hair. OMG IT WAS a aweful!!! I ended up with Dark MAROON Hair! This is a life saver. I have Company VIP's coming to our office in 2 days. It was 1:00 in the morning and I tried to wash some of the color out. No luck. I found a 24 hour Walgreens after reading reviews and said I had nothing to lose.
Follow the directions. Your hair will be really dry so get a good conditioner. I got Clairol's Nice'n easy color seal. It's the same conditioner that you use after you color. Works great. I ended up with a very light cinnamon color and it looks very natural. I would tell everyone to use this product when you have a hair color oops! Thank GOD for this wonderful product

IT REALLY WORKS!!! i am very happy with my results. i have been coloring my hair with Clairol's Natural Instincts for about 4 years and recently, it has left my hair: (1) unevenly colored--with the roots lighter than the rest of hair & (2) the rest of my hair length [not the root area] was soaking up so much color that it looked black & muddy. it was black even tho i was coloring it with a semi-permanent med/lt brown. the problem is that coloring has made my hair is so pourous, that it soaks up color like a sponge. also, i have VERY fine, thin hair, and semi-permanent (supposedly gentle) hair coloring has made my hair even more fragile. as a consequence, i was extremely scared to use a color remover on my hair. i read about Color Oops and many other color removers: Colorzap, Uncolor, Colorfix, The One & Only, and more. I found out that Color Oops is different from all the others in that it is sulphur based (more gentle than other color removers, i.e., not bleachy). i had to use the most gentle product i could find. i read a ton of reviews, and since soooo many people have had luck with Color Oops & because it seemed to be the most gentle of the color removers, i thought i'd give it a try. viola!! it worked great. i planned on recoloring, but i am happy with the color it is now, a sort of auburn. in addition, because my hair is lighter now, the grey in my roots is not as noticable. i'm sure i will recolor sometime soon (my grey roots do need covering), but the color i am now after using color oops is nice and i think it looks much better! also, the smell is nasty when you're using it, but my hair smells fine after shampooing/ conditioining/ blowdrying just one time.

I have natural "dirty" or "dishwater" blond hair and have been coloring my hair for the past 20 something years. About four months ago a girl asked me, "What color IS your hair? Sometimes it looks blond, sometimes it looks strawberry and sometimes it looks light brown", so I decided it was definitely time for a change! I decided to color it a little bit darker than I had been and the first time I did this, I thought it to be a bit too dark (although it really wasn't dark at all!) So I went to a beauty supply store and talked to a girl there who seemed to be very knowledgeable and talked me into purchasing a highlight kit. I had bought one at [@] but it did not come with a cap and needle and there was NO way I was going to do this by free-hand! I have pretty thick hair and it's just past my shoulders. Well, I put the highlights in and was so proud of myself! They looked great!So about a month and a half later I noticed that my hair was looking dingy (drab) and decided to highlight it again. I also purchased a color to put all over that was closer to my natural color and then did the highlights after coloring. This time it did not come out as well. (I think it was because I used a different all over color that was not quite as dark as the previous time I colored all over before highlighting). It looked good, but not as good. So I thought I'd get a little bit darker of a color the next time. This product works miracles! I am a natural dark ash blond who bleaches or has highlights as my roots grow in--thus most of my hair is light blonde.

I decided to become a redhead using Natural Instincts and completely regretted it! I had left the Natural Instincts on much longer than the box said to really get a deep red, and despite this, Color Oops still really pulled it off my hair.

I followed the box directions to the letter (except for not bothering with the strand test), and 99% of the red came out and my blond is back! I would recommend buying 2 boxes if you have a lot of hair...I have long hair and I think all the red would have come out if I had used 2 boxes to really saturate the back, hard to reach places. It left my hair in great condition, no breakage/falling out/etc. Wonderful product, will use again if I need to!

I was trying to go back to my original medium/light brown shade that was growing out about an inch or two after having had lightned and highlighted hair for a year or so. So the top/roots were brown and the rest of my hair, which I had just had cut yesterday to the nape of my neck, was highlighted/blonde. I bought a medium natural cool brown shade that I thought matched my natural color. NOT!! I ended up with very dark brown hair, almost black on the ends. I read the reviews here and then this morning went out and bought the Extra strenth Oops. I did a test patch for 20 minutes and thought it was too light, so I kept the product on my hair for only 15 minutes and then rinsed and shampooed for the 20 minutes recommended. It's about the same story you've read on here dozens of times. I meant to dye my hair dark brown, and of course it came out PITCH BLACK. I was so upset. I must have cried for about an hour. I did everything I could find to get the color to fade out: baking soda, dish soap, prell, and of course NONE of it worked. The black just wasn't budging. I read a significant amount of reviews on this product, and afraid as I was that I was going to go bald, I tried it. Incredible product. Although it didn't remove ALL of the black, it did make my hair colour considerably softer. I suffered NO hair loss from using this product. Although it smelled, it was as bad some people say it was. Open up a door or window and you'll be fine. I encourage you to rinse, rinse, rinse when you use this product. I know that if I had rinsed a bit more, the black would have bit lifted even more than it was. I love this product. I read a negative review that said something about the users of this product review right after it was used, and how the stripped colour would eventually return. This is false. My hair mishap and use of this product was about a week and a half ago, and the black hasn't returned in the least. Now all I have to do is wait for November to roll around and I can get my hair back to brown. I constantly thank God for Color Oops. It definitely saved me face.

I cannot believe how well this worked! It is a week before my wedding and my golden-brown demi-permanent hair color turned out black. I was really upset! I have used both the rgeular strength and extra strength of this product. Both time I had processed hair and my hair is naturally coarse, dry and curly.
I had used dark brown hair dye on my auburn hair and it came out black. I hoped the black would fade and months later used color oops. I used the regular strength twice and it removed most of my black dye. I would have used the extra strength but couldnt find it anywhere.
The second time I dyed my auburn hair medium brown and wanted to remove it to my natural color. I found a extra strength box of color oops and it removed 95% of the color. It left my hair pretty dry but was highly effective. Color Oops is way less damaging than bleach.
This product is very effective if you use as directed! Leave on for 2 minutes, shampoo and rinse for like 20 minutes. Yes, it smells bad but it's cheap, easy to use and way cheaper than going to a salon. It does smell bad but nothing worse than typical hair dye to me.

My situation was this, my boyfriend had been dying his hair black for about 8 years and his original color is auburn. While I was putting this on I had a hearty chuckle thinking about the reviewer who said it looked and smelled like elephant snot.. because it certainly does! It is also very runny so it would be best to have someone help you put it on if you can. I used this product when I picked up a box of 'Dark Brown' hair coloring and it turned my hair JET BLACK.. my hair was already dark brown (I was just trying to cover grays) so I don't understand why so many people seem to be having this problem. Anyways it looked awful and after washing it with Dawn and Head and Shoulders within 12 hours without much change, I decided to give this product a shot as a last resort.
When I was in the shower I was very concerned that the water was not changing colors. I was actually getting very disheartened. I recently dyed my hair using a dark brown. To my surprise my hair came out jet black. I called the 800 number on the color box and all the woman could tell me was to wash my hair with a cheap shampoo, which did not work at all. I decided to use Oops because my hair was already a mess. I have naturally dark brown hair but wanted to try a "soft black" just to add some depth and polish. Turns out soft black = goth black and was a bit too harsh. The next day after trying to fade it out with dish soap I decided to go and buy some Oops. I was happily surprised with the results. I only left the product on for half of the recommended time (10 minutes) but I found that was all I needed. It is still slightly darker than my natural color but pretty much the results I was looking for from my initial experiment. 1. I'm Asian with thin, fine hair and it worked for me.
2. I was trying to get Clairol Black dye out two days after I dyed my hair.
3. First things first. Before you actually use the product OPEN ALL WINDOWS!!! It's ammonia and bleach free but it smelled aweful and fumed up my entire bath and bedroom, and they are not small rooms!
4. Take out your contact lenses, the fume was so bad it left my eyes burning and now a day later my eyes are really really red.
5. I left it on for 10 minutes the first time and didn't work completely so I did it again right after for 10 more minutes and it took most color out.
6. I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed until my arms were sore.
7. Use good conditioner, the product can be damaging to your hair
8. I don't know if it's the product or the result of washing my hair for 15 minutes, but LOTS of my hair fell out.

I bought this after reading several good reviews. I had a really bad dye job done at a salon (I asked for dark chocolate and got dark purple!) I had to get that out! So I tried this, and while it does stink and is pretty watery, it coated my shoulder length, semi-thick hair pretty well. It promises to return you to your original color, which it did not for me. I went from being dark purple to a more believable auburn red. I then coated that with a light ash blonde semi-permanent, and now i have a more believable shade of reddish brown. Did it bring me back to my original color? No. Did it make it so I could live with this hair color? Yes.

The product does make your hair feel waxy when you rinse it out, but as long as you use a good leave-in conditioner it doesn't leave it feeling fried or brittle. Mine actually feels pretty nice (for having it died on Sat, hair color removed on Sun, and new color added on Mon!)

I do recommend this to people who absolutely cannot live with what they have dyed their hair, but you have to be realistic. Don't expect a miracle or your hair to be exactly the way it was.

Have you ever had one of those times? I did. I had perm 2 weeks ago, don't ask what possessed me to do that beyond I was tired of stick straight baby fine hair that did nothing but hang limp in our humidity. I have horrible luck when it comes to coloring my hair.
My hair is bleached and over the years I have tried several times to put color back into my hair...I always end up with something funky. This latest time it was lowlighted dark blonde but of coarse it came out a horrible dark gray.
Once again I used Color Oops and it took the dark gray out and turned the lowlights a really pretty gold.

I am a natural blond who ventured into the hair dying world on a spontaneous whim when I decided I would like to have red hair. It was great the first couple days, but as the color faded, my natural color started turning my red to orange. I decided at that point I didn't want to mess with any hair dyes and I just wanted my natural color back. So after searching the web, as I'm sure many have done before me, I found this product. The reviews made me kind of nervous because it either seemed to work great or not work at all. Figuring I had nothing left to lose, I gave it a shot.
I am very happy with the end results. Maybe it's because my hair wasn't too drastic of a change, or maybe it's because my natural hair is a very light blond, but either way, it restored my hair to it;s natural color.
There is one downside, and that's how dry it makes your hair, but a deep conditioning will take care of that. The smell isn't too bad, but I found it nauseating to be in a small hot bathroom with all the chemicals and steam. I hope this review is helpful to someone out there!

1. Have hair longer than shoulder length? Get two boxes.

2. When washing the color oops solution out of your hair, it is VERY important to shampoo your hair for a MAXIMUM of five minutes. If you do not do this, the undesirable color you were trying to get rid of will come back. Many people on this site complained about Color oops being only temporary. I assure you, the results are not temporary if you shampoo thoroughly. I shampooed twice just to make sure, (my hair is long).

3. Once your hair has the color oops formula washed out and has been shampooed thoroughly, you should dye your hair your natural color. Color oops will leave your hair slightly discolored and splotchy, so dying it will fix this issue. Just make sure your hair isn't damaged before you dye. You may even want to use some conditioner on your hair before you dye.

4. DO NOT LEAVE THE DYE IN FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES!!!! At this point your hair will be very porous from the color oops. Leaving in any color longer than five minutes will result in very dark, dark results. Do a strand test first to see what the optimal dying time may be. 3 minutes might even be better.

5. Call up the number on the box for advice. A consultant will tell you how to get the best results with the product, depending on your hair type and needs.

Big Big Huge Mistake!!!!!!

Not only does my hair as well as my house stink (which I could have lived with), but my hair is FRIED, not a gentle product at all.

I started with black hair (I know, once you go black you can not go back). I put the product in anyways because I must have read about 50 reviews all stating they have black hair and color opps worked wonders.

Within minutes my whole head was evenly turning orange, which the cosmitician said would be a normal color for it to turn if I had decided to use bleach. (Which I might have well have used bleach, seen as how badly damaged my hair is now)!
I did exactly what the directions told me to do and assuming my hair would turn orange I had done some research as to what color to pick that would hide the orange or atleast blend in nicely with it so I bought a natural brown.
Not only is the top half of my head brownish with orange streaks the bottom half turned back to black.

I have done many at-home-dye jobs and right now I feel like I have just returned home from a salon....In MY CASE.....A BIG MISTAKE.
I would not recommend this product to anyone including an enemy!That's how strongly I feel about this product.

I dyed my hair what I thought was going to be a darker blond than I am naturally, when my hair ended up a grayish color I colored it with "ash" brown, When that turned my hair greenish, I then just went to black (out of frustration) to just cover it all up. I dyed my hair with semi-permanent black die after having it chemically straightened. After about a month the color still wasn't fading, & my golden brown roots were starting to show. My mom's hair stylist said there wasn't really such a thing as semi-permanent black, it usually stays in. I knew I was in trouble already bc of the porous state of my hair when I dyed it & bc it was so much darker than my natural color. That's when I found this product. Its the ONLY non-salon brand I could find to erase smei-permanent dye. It worked in taking out a LOT of the black, but my hair is not its natural color. Its a dark brown but looks so much better than the dull black. The box does say you can repeat immediately afterwards if necessary. I didn't have enough product to do it (I have thick hair), but I'm sure if I would have it would be its natural medium brown. I didn't need to recolor it nor did it add any brassiness like other color erasers I've used in the past.

I went to a salon and payed $75 for a "dark brown" all over color. It turned out JET BLACK. I was horrified. Even my little sister said "whats on your head?". I tried everything, using DAWN, using dandruff shampoo. Even rising my hair in scorching water. I bawled my eyes out for hours. I talked to my friend who told me to use color oops. I was so nervous to try it and i kept thinking it would come out terrible. I kept it in for 18 mintues and rinsed it out. I started getting upset when the water ran clear. But when i got out of the shower it looked AMAZING. It was dark brown with carmel highlights. I couldnt believe my old jet black hair looked like this now. IT REALLY WORKS. who ever invented this needs a big hug :)

I wanted to go from brown/black to dark/med brown. I followed package directions. Color did lift but the 20+ minutes rinsing, awful smell and the mess left on the towel were not a plus. Then, per directions, I colored with a light brown (to bring it to the dark/med brown desired) for a minimal amount of time (since the hair was already absorbent). My hair went back to the original color I wanted to get rid off to begin with! The product seems gentle at first, but then I noticed that my hair was drier than ever! This product seems like a good idea which still needs perfecting.

This product is wonderful in my opinion. I am an African American female with locks. I recently had my hair color professionally done at a local salon and it went horribly wrong. I had two toned hair which was orange at the roots and strawberry red throught my locks. I went back to get it fixed, but it didn't help. I finally tried Color oops to see if I could get rid of the red and make it all one color. It worked perfectly and was very easy to use. It does have a slightly unpleasant smell and should be discarded as soon as possible, because the smell gets much worse.

This stuff is a miracle in a box!

Long story short. I went to a salon and asked the stylist to dye my cherry blond hair the color of my roots (dark brown). What does the stylist do? She dyes my hair Goth black, no joke. After she dyed my hair I wanted to cry - thinking I'd have to endure onyx black hair for several month, or pay a fortune to have the process reversed.

Yet my worst fears were satiated with a miracle in an 8 dollar box. In about twenty minutes I went from pitch black, gothic hair, back to my cherry blond color.

Hair dye does come with an undo button, a ctrl z, a reset - it's called "Color Oops."

Don't let the negative reviews on this page scare you. If I can go from night black to cherry blond in the span of twenty minutes, I'm sure whatever hair debacle you are currently faced with will not be an issue. Also, for those worried about damaging already damaged hair, my hair is the epitome of over-colored/processed/ironed hair/anything you can think of, and the product didn't do me any damage that a bottle of conditioner can't fix. It won't make your hair fall out!

My only warning is that you use color oops within a 24 hour span of the dye job. My results came out so well because I used the product about 12 hours after my dye job/hair blunder. I'm guessing most of the negative reviews on this site come from those who attempted using the product after the 24 window of time.

Hair care does come with a reset button, and it's called "Color oops!" I guess this wasn't a short story after all.

I have natural dark blonde hair. I dyed my hair a 'medium brown' but it turned out JET BLACK. I kept it though. I had the color in my hair for OVER a month. And i decided to go back to blonde, but to do so it needed to be lighter. I used Color Opps and my hair isnt dark blonde again, but it is a light brown and WAY lighter than the black. I havent re-dyed it jet and i probably wont, i love the color!

Just tried this on hair that had been dyed 'soft black' about 6 weeks ago, and this product accpomlished absolutely nothing, except for noticably drying my hair out (about the same as with bleaching). The black did not even fade, there went [$]down the drain, literally!

I used the OOPS color remover kit last night. I had colored my hair TWICE over the weekend. It went WAY dark almost black. I am normally a Dark Blonde. I am so glad I read the reviews first so I knew how very important it was to RINSE RINSE RINSE(20 minutes or more).. the more I RINSED the more my natural color came back. I also washed it about 4 times while rinsing. When I was done rinsing I put a very good conditioner on my hair and then put a shower hat over it for about 30 minutes.. it looks Great.. I am so happy with the results I will never ever color without a box of this in my closet again!

This is truly a miracle formula. I am a natural blonde, and a few months ago I dyed the blonde to red. After the red began to fade, I dyed it a light brown. But the brown vanished completely after just a few days, so I figured I'd go darker. So last night I dyed it again. Jet-black. Not good. Horrifying, in fact. I did some internet research and found this product, used it for 15 minutes today on my hair, and now the jet-black mistake is a gorgeous brown-sugar color with dark brown lowlights and even a few shiny near-golden highlights. It's even prettier than the brown that didn't hold, and far better than the black. I recommended "Color Oops" to my mom, who also dyes her own hair. The smell is not that bad, and it's really a very small price to pay in order to fix your hair-color mistake.

okay so i just used this product and i loveeee it. i have been dying my hair jet black for about 3 yrs now. recently, i started to realize how it used to look so bright black when i was first dying it and now it looked so dull even right after dyes.
so i bought this product planning on using it then re dying my hair black to make it look like it was the first time i ever dyed it. it took sooo much color out!!! my hair right now it reddish brown- after 3 yrs of dying it black!!! im soo happy that it did what it sed it would do... i havent dyed it black again yet im about to go do that now...

this product shouldnt be used without dyeing it after. it will leave you hair a pretty odd color so make sure u have something in mind when you use it...

Did not remove a bit of color from my hair after TWO treatments! What a waste of money and time. TOTAL RIP OFF. Not to mention it smell terrible, and the smell is still in my hair after three shampoos. I did manage to remove shine and body from my hair.

i just bought this product yesterday.i had dyed my hair jet black like a month ago thinking i would like it.before i dyed it black it was dark blonde.well i purchased color oops.did everything the instruction said exactly.It took out all of the black and left my hair brown with red tints.that is all well and good but its just not my thing.so since the thing on the color oops box said you can re-dye your hair the same day,i did.i tried to dye it dark blonde.well after i dyed it again it came out black.that makes me think that maybe you should wait a few days after using color oop to re-dye your hair again.has anyone on here experienced the same problem?so now i am going to do the color oops again and wait a few days befor coloring it again.if anyone has had this happen to them let me know how you went about fixing it without going to the solon.dont get me wrong the color oops does work it got my jet black hair color out.so i would recommend this product to anyone.just consider waiting a few days before recoloring.maybe even wait a week.[@]

I am sitting here not believing how well this product worked! Last night I decided to color my hair a shade darker than my medium brown shade I had been using for years. Well, you guessed it, my hair turned jet black! I washed it with Dawn, used hot olive oil...nothing worked. I was on the internet until 4 am looking for different options other than a salon, and found this sight with all these reviews, and thoguht what the heck, it can't get any worse. So i did the strand test and noticed it was about 6 min when the color started to fade...so I put it in my hair, the product is really thin, but so is my shoulder length hair and i used almost the whole bottle. After 6-7 minutes I rinsed and rinsed then washed and washed about 5 times. I started to blow dry my hair and noticed it was bright orangy, and saw a splotch of brown where I missed, so I used some more Oops in that area. This time I am thinking I will have to recolor my hair b/c it was so orangy (but I expected that)Anyway..I left it in for 5 min, then rinsed and shampooed again 4 times. I put a really thick conditioner in towel dried hair and let it sit for 20 min. I showered and rinsed again. SURPRISE!!! This time my hair is a chocolatey brown, all the orange is now gone?!!?! WEIRD!! It must have oxidized?!? Well, I am very happy with this color and am leaving it alone for now! My scalp is a little tingly, but my hair is soft and a beautiful color. I hope it stays!! OH, the product does stink, but COME ON! It is not worse than Nair or other beauty products we women torture ourselves with!! The people complaining about the stink are overreacting in my opinion!!

Wow. Just wow. My hair has been a million colors in the last year--everything from red to green to blue and most recently black. In fact, it was black with a green hue because of dyeing black over red chunks. I was about to dye it black again, hoping to get rid of the green, when I found Color Oops. I bought it, came home, and within 15 minutes, my hair was back to my natural color, which I haven't seen in easily 15 years. I can't decide if I like it or not because it seems so odd to see it. Other comments talked about the smell, but I didn't think it was so bad. Frankly, it wasn't that much worse than regular hair color is. I don't know yet if I'm going to dye it again (I was going to go auburn red). I'll give it a day or two to decide. Also, my hair is pretty damaged from all the dyeing, but it feels great now. It also doesn't look as damaged. I HIGHLY recommend this and I plan to tell everyone I talk to about this product. It's absolutely amazing!

I had my hair colored by my stylist today, and, since I was going darker than my original color, she suggested I also dye my eyebrows. It looked ok, but it was just too much of a drastic change for me, and I wanted the color gone. I used this product only on my eyebrows, and it worked great. It was quick, strong, and gentle. Whew. I'm back to normal.

I'm going to write this review it two parts. I will come back and update in a couple days. Because your hair darkens after using it. I am a natural golden blonde, fair skinned gal with light green eyes. One day being a little bored and looking to change my look (as well as save money) I decided to dye my hair Loreal Medium Golden Brown. Mistake #1. My hair turned too orange/brassy. I should've picked an ash or neutral shade to tone down the gold in my hair. So wanting to change it a little darker and make my eyes stand out, I chose a non-permanent dark burgundy so it could fade out if I didn't like it. Mistake #2. This made me look older and was not at all flattering with my skin tone. Enter the Color Oops. After reading literally 100's of reviews on Amazon as well as Walgreen's and watching a YouTube video, I felt I had enough info, tips and courage to try Color Oops. I purchased 2 boxes because I have thick hair to the middle of my back. Did a patch test to see if I was allergic. I also did a strand test a couple days before using it on my head. I mixed an equal capful of each 2 oz bottle and did a 15 minute and a 20 minute test on strands. I gave myself a haircut a couple days earlier after the dye jobs so I used this hair. The strands looked like they had almost all of the color removed and were very blonde with the solution. I washed/rinsed and put them aside noticing the next day they darkened up quite a bit, to a dark blonde almost brunette but without red tones. I still went ahead and used the Color Oops. Bring a radio to listen to while in bathroom/shower because using this product takes some time. I mixed first bottle and applied to head. It's very runny and be careful shaking it gently, gasses build up in bottle and spray out a little when you open it. Don't get it in your eyes! I used almost both bottles, one would not have been enough for my head. I also kept my hair untangled and combed it with a comb to apply the product evenly. Then I used a shower cap and timed it for 20 minutes. I made sure there were no drafts and I sat in a warm room. The smell was not as bad as people were saying. One girl in her review wrote it smells like "lemon fart". Perfect description! I thought Yellowstone hot springs were bad, but honestly I don't think Color Oops smelled as awful as I'd expected. After 20 minutes I got into shower and I rinsed it from hair, shampooed/rinsed/shampooed, then rinsed for 20 minutes with very warm water. Rinsing is key. This was actually the worst part for me. I wanted the water to be very warm/hot, cold would close the hair shaft and you won't be able to rinse dye molecules out. I actually felt like I was going to pass out (kinda scary) from the heat and smell together and 20 minutes is a long time. Radio helps. After all of that I applied Original Hair Mayonnaise Conditioner and sat for 20 minutes with it on my hair. Then rinsed some more. When I towel dried hair I noticed almost all color was removed, roots were brassy/light blonde and ends were dark blonde/light brunette. I was happy it was almost back to normal. It has now been an hour and my hair has darkened up almost to the color it was before this whole ordeal. It has less burgundy but it is a reddish brunette color. The ends are dark and roots are still orangey/brassy, like a copper penny. Wonderful? Not so much. But my hair feels healthy like before, doesn't feel damaged. But I always use lots of shower conditioner and leave in conditioners. It also doesn't smell sulfury anymore, maybe just when it's wet. So I will wait a couple days before I use any more products to try to fix my hair. I also think it will darken up some more. Honestly girls, if you have gorgeous hair to begin with, don't mess with it! But if you're reading this, you're probably in the same boat as me, and want to try to fix a mistake you made by trying to do your own hair. So bottom line, Color Oops didn't work for me. It didn't bring it back ANYWHERE close to my natural color. And I followed directions to a tee. I also used the product a week after the colorings, and one was non-permanent dye. I had high hopes for Color Oops but I'm left disappointed. I guess I'm in minority though. So if you feel your hair can't get any worse, maybe give it a go. But if you have the money, have a professional fix your hair. I wasted [$] altogether using this product. And I'm back in square one.

I'm 16, and for my birthday I went to San Diego with my friend to meet up with some other friends and have a great time. While there, my friend who lives in San Diego dyed my hair jet-black. I liked it for awhile, then returned to my hometown only to find out about 7 people I know ALSO dyed their hair black. After about a month, I lost all interest in my hair color, and desired to dye it dark brown (my natural color is a light-brown).My friends told me the only way to get a dark brown color was to bleach it. I knew this would damage my hair, so I did NOT want to do that. I called my local salon and asked their opinion. I used this product after dying mt hair medium golden brown,well,my hair wasn't medium golden brown,it was almost black,it was a ugly muddy brown! Used color oops and wow!!!!! I made the mistake of coloring hair while giving the dogs a bath and left it on too long. My hair went from medium red to an ashy black. I used color oops and in the 20 minutes processing it completely removed all of the dark color and color build up and made my hair back to the natural color and soft and shiny.

I am 49 yrs old with mostly gray hair. It has been years and years since I colored it, but I got a bug up my butt and decided to give auburn red a try. Prior to going gray, I was a dark ash blonde. So ok, I went to the store and purchased Colorsilk Medium Auburn and dyed my hair.

I was horribly disappointed with the auburn color results. So while trying to figure out how soon I could re-dye my hair, I found this web site with all the reviews for Color Oops. After reading about 50 reviews, I decided it can't get much worse than what I had.

So off to Walgreens I went, picked up the Color Oops and a box of Medium Ash Blonde color just in case I needed it. I cut a small chuck of hair from the side of my head and first tried the Oops with the test hair. Figured out I only needed to leave in the solution about 10 minutes to remove the red from my hair.

After the test hair, I proceeded to do my full head of hair. Left it on 10 minutes then jumped into the shower for about 20 minutes of rinsing, shampooing and conditioning, in that order, three times each.

Got out of the shower, and now my hair is a golden blonde. No additional color needed and I'm as happy as a clam. Not quite sure how I ended up with blonde hair since my starting color was gray, but hey, I'll take it! :)

My hair is naturally medium brown and I usually dye it dark brown. I used a brand I don't usually use (Nice 'N Easy, natural dark brown) and it turned my hair totally black. I already have pasty skin so I looked goth and gross. I was going to just let it fade out, but I found Color Oops and decided to give it a try. It took out almost all of the dye and took my hair basically back to its normal color. There were a couple darker spots but I'm pretty sure it's just because of user-error (I didn't spend enough time making sure I saturated all of my hair with the product because I'm too impatient). Generally, the product is amazing considering so many people spend sooo much money to get their hair professionally stripped in salons. I would recommend taking the time to do the strand test so you know how long to leave it in, and making sure you get ALL of your hair so you don't have streaks or splotches of dye left over after. Great product!

I have been dyeing my hair black for the last year. And decided to go back to my natural colour (blonde). I first read the reviews on here and thought that this product would work because so many people who were trying to get rid of black hair (the hardest colour to remove) said it worked for them. I followed the instructions carefully and it didn't do anything to my hair... at all. It maybe stripped away the slightest amount of colour, but nothing noticble. For how much I paid, I felt ripped off. Anyone looking to get rid of black hair is better off seeking advice from a professional.

Okay, Ladies--- if you are reading this, it probably means that you're desperate for something to save you from the STUPID mistake you just made! (I was in your shoes this morning!). If you dyed your hair a horrific color and immediately regretted it, then stop reading this, jump in your car and go to Walgreens [...] to purchase this product! The one thing I would say is that I shouldn't have left it on my hair for the entire 20 minutes. It made my hair orangy-brown. Then I decided to cover it up with another dye right away-- yeah...good idea. WRONG. I didn't fully read the directions, messed up and ended up in the same boat AGAIN. Stupid girl. Anyway, I purchased ANOTHER box of Color Oops, didn't leave it on very long and ended up with a wonderful dark brown shade with a hint off auburn. Oh, did I mention that I was trying to fix my hair after dyeing it JET BLACK?! So, yeah...if it worked on black hair, I'm sure it will work for you (unless you used one with bleach-- in that case I don't think it will work). Just remember to READ the directions completely. Yes. Completely. And don't go far from a mirror while it's setting so that you can see if it's getting too brassy.

I love this stuff. I was extremely skeptical at first, but decided I had nothing to lose. I dyed my hair Manic Panic's Atomic Turquoise a week ago and got sick of the color really quickly. I bought some Color Oops, but when I got home and read the directions it clearly says it will not work on bright pinks, blues, greens or purples, but I did a test strip and it worked! And quickly too. It smells, but not as bad as bleach. It's very easy to use. It didn't itch or irritate my scalp and there was no visible damage. I don't know how they do it, but this stuff is amazing. Highly recommended.

This product is unreal. I once used "Un-Color" to get black out of my hair and it took multiple passes and I was left with a black stripe across what was otherwise red hair... this product would have worked SOOOO much better, had I known about it.

It did just what it said. It removed a too-dark brown color from my hair and left me with a lovely mid-auburn. Now, I see people on here have missed the point. This product is generally NOT the end result, it's only the first of two parts needed to get the color you want. I LIKE my hair auburn/red, so I'm totally fine leaving it as-is. But it only removes dark color from your own hair, which will leave you with either a natural lighter color, or- if you've bleached your hair in the past, it will lift your hair to the lightest shade you bleached it. This is NOT supposed to be the end result! AFTER you do this you can no go ahead and RE-DYE your hair to the desired shade. Or- if you're like me, you might be surprised that you LIKE what you're left with & you stop here.

I can't get over how even my color is now. And, I felt no damage was caused whatsoever. Phenomenal. I didn't know such a thing was possible!

Now, about the smell. You previous reviewers had me scared I was going to stink up the neighborhood. Not so. While I admit I work with chemicals frequently (as a painter), and am therefore accustomed to odd odors, this was just completely a non-issue. Yes, it smells of sulphur. But I didn't notice the smell (while processing) after 5 minutes, and it wasn't bad. Admittedly, I was a little surprised that I smelled it more after I was done (though I did nothing else to my hair but wash, condition and dry it) and the smell lingered until I washed it again the next day. But- completely tolerable. I'll call this stuff a minor miracle! (If it automatically knew what my PERFECT shade was and created that too, then it would be a MAJOR miracle, but that's just asking too much.)

Okay, I have naturally dark brown, almost-black hair, with almost no red in it. I've been trying to create my own darkest-red shade, and keep missing the mark by a little. Two dyes ago, I went super dark brown (not on purpose), and yesterday I picked a red that was too light for my roots so my roots were bright red & my ends were still.... almost black. What I wanted to do was skip this step (I should know better!) and just get a medium dark red/brown... but it didn't happen.

Now that I've added the "Oops" to it, now everything is the lightest shade of red my hair has endured previously, which is the perfect foil for the deep red I wanted. That does mean a re-dye, people! I can't get over the reviews people put on here that the color CREATED by Oops is awful. And usually orange-y. (Fine for me because that's what I was going for anyway!) Well, this isn't supposed to be the final result, folks! The third step is to then RE-dye your lightened hair to the shade you were going for in the first place! PLEASE take note. This product does exactly what it says it does, and better than "Un-Color" or bleach that I've used in the past. (Though I was going from black to auburn, not dark brown to auburn, so I cannot attest to how well it does with blacks, which usually have tar in them.)

Also- the smell? Okay, it's not lilies, but come on. You think THAT's bad? It was mild at best. I'm a painter, so I work with chemicals regularly, so I may be jaded or accustomed to it. Well...I'm sorry that I needed this product. But SO glad it was out there. I accidently died my hair GREENISH GREY...well, I chose a medium ash blonde and put it on my hair (my natural color is light brown and I'd been doing bright blonde highlights). I wanted an allover color. What I ended up with was RED roots (where my hair had been brown) and GREENISH GREY hair (where my hair had been highlighted). It was HORRIFIC. I was going to try to dye over it but thought I'd try this product instead. WOW! is all I have to say. It took out ALL of the GREENISH GREY hair and it lightened the red roots to a strawberry blonde. The rest of my hair is a great honey blonde. The color is really pretty! (prettier than what I had before I screwed up). The only bad thing is that the roots are a little different color (more strawberry blonde) but I think I can remedy that with a toner. What a lifesaver.

I dyed my hair from my natural blonde color, to burgundy red (which most of you know is a dark reddish purple), well I absolutely loved the color, but it faded after I dyed it twice in 3 weeks..So I decided rather than buy 2-3 boxes of permanent dye a month to keep up with it..that I would rather go back to my blonde..I originally was going to dye it back blonde with a blonde dye, but I saw this hair removal kit in my local drug store, and I thought eh I'll give it a try, because I never have before..ok BIGGGGG MISTAKE..After dying my hair for years and even sometimes leaving dye on for too long, or dying repeatedly in a few weeks span, I have NEVER EVER IN MY LIFE, LOST MY HAIR LIKE I DID WITH THIS KIT. I only left it on for 20 minutes like the package stated (just enough time to see the orangey color to my hair surface) and afterwards I washed my hair about 10 times in the shower and rinsed and watched almost half my hair go down the drain...It's been around 11 days and each day I have washed my hair so many times (in my head I'm thinking for some reason that this stuff is indestructable and maybe it needs to be rinsed out more) However each day, I see my hair thinning more..it even looks like I got a haircut, because I have lost so much hair that it is sitting shorter against my shoulders...My hair looks so nasty and I regret ever buying it..The goal of this product is YES TO REMOVE THE COLOR..IT DID JUST THAT AND MORE..I want my hair back! I was very skeptical that this product would actually work, especially as I saw NO dye washing out of my hair as I was rinsing, rinsing, rinsing for 20 minutes. BUT wow! I am unbelievably impressed. Here's my saga: Have been trying to "go natural" for the past 18 months with the help of stylists. The color was looking dull and mousy... not nice w/ my skin tone at all. On a whim, I went to Walgreens yesterday afternoon and bought an all-over dye that was called "Lightest Golden Brown". A store employee familiar with the products helped me pick it, and said it would lighten me up nicely. (At the time, my hair was a medium brown color with some dark blonde in it). Well, the result was awful. Not a bad color per se, if you wanted a rich chocolate brown with russet highlights, but totally not what I was looking for. It took my hair several shades darker... just awful. So I researched online last night and came across these reviews for Color Oops. Bought it and some Revlon Frost and Glow at the store this morning. Left Color Oops processing on my hair for 25 minutes. Then shampooed and rinsed for about 20 minutes total, including after using copious amounts of conditioner. Could not believe the result when I started to comb it out. My hair is a gorgeous sun-kissed light brown... stunning. It looks like I spent $200 at the salon. It's my dream color - amazing. I think it's actually a bit lighter than my natural color, but it's the look I was going for all along when I first bought the original dye kit that did not do the job. I am going to return the Revlon highlights kit - don't even need it as Color Oops gave me such an incredibly good result. I am starting to think my stylist had messed up my color and I finally got my true color (although a welcome touch lighter) back. Oh also - I just don't get what everyone is saying about the horrible smell. I did not think it was bad - AT ALL. I almost didn't use this product because of the warnings of the smell, but I think it's totally fine. If you have a similiar story to mine, do not hesitate to use this product. After buying "darkest natural brown" and instead getting what looked like "goth at midnight" I thought I was going to die! I found about this product last night and I woke up this morning and went to the closest walgreen to pick it up. I have to say it is pretty awesome! I am asian and I have naturally black hair. My hair is sort of thick and long, but I end up only needing one box versus two when I dye my hair. I been dying it for a few years and about 6 months ago, I dyed it jet black. I got so tired of it and realize it made my skin really pale. Not waiting to wait and fade it out, I went to the salon wanting medium brown hair and I came home with BLUE-BLACK HAIR. This is after she even corrected my previous black hair with bleach, so I was in total shock! Well, I started to research about dyes and I stumble onto this product. I had nothing to lose and love the thought that it had no bleach or ammonia. I didn't want to damage my hair anymore, because I was planning to go back to the salon and get it redone.
What I caution is to do a TEST STRAND! It will help you figure out how long to put the solution in. I did one and I realize I only needed to put it in for 6 MINUTES despite the product saying for 20 mins. My hair came back this lighter-auburn brownish color. Any longer my hair would be orange or something. THIS IS POWERFUL. Since I am asian this color suits me. There are strands where its a little lighter because of the bleach done at the salon to correct my hair. I am completely satisfied and totally recommend this product. If only I found it before I went to the salon and wasted 4 hours there. This whole process took me 50 mins. This made my hair a little dry but nothing that leave in conditioner for a week or so won't fix.
OH yeah, this product does not smell that bad. After reading other reviews, I was hesitant, but seriously it just smell like any other dye that you put in your hair. I had to read like 200 reviews on here to push myself to do it, and I am really glad I did.

yeah sooooo i had my hair black but let it grow out for a few months so i could go chocolate brown... i used color oops and it made patches all over my hair and made my softness disappear.
I am sooooo sooo sooo mad and advise that no1 uses this product. oh yeah and the smell is discusting. smells like diarihaa mixed with tangerines. its gross. were much better off bleaching. now i have to bleach and dye over..

Color Oops took out several months of various nearly-black colors! I was truly amazed! It took my hair color to a light brown with a bright orangish tint to it. My hair was then ready to be re-dyed a new, more natural color. Be careful if re-dying immediately after using Color Oops, they are not lying about hair grabbing the color really quickly. I left the new color on no more than five minutes before washing it out and it was already darker than expected. It's a nice, medium brown now, and my hair feels healthy and smooth! The stuff does smell really nasty, but it's worth saving the money over expensive salon treatments and colorings. A great product!

To say this stuff smells bad is a complete understatement! I almost vomited - no kidding - it's that bad. And it doesnt leave your head when you are done. Even the prettiest smelling shampoo can't help.
The product did what the directions said it would. My hair is currently a nice orange color, not the brown I had. Now Im ready for the color I actually wanted.
I shampooed and rinsed just like the directions said. I used a junk removing shampoo and then conditioned my hair, wrapped it in a towel without rinsing and let it sit for 10min and rinsed for anther 5 minutes. My hair is surprising soft.
Now Im off to apply new color!

This product may work very well in romoving a box color from your hair, but it does not tone down or remove highlights or any extreme lightener. It does not bring your hair back to match the rest of your hair either, it may look a little reddish and quite a bit lighter than norm. Highlighting/lightening is done by using a bleaching agent and leaves the hair more porus than it was previously. During this process, it lifts the hair shaft to allow the highlights/lightener to penetrate deeper inside the hair shaft to eliminate the old color. Damage. This product cannot remove that, it's bleached inside and out. This product leaves your hair feeling even more damaged so if you must use this to remove a box color, it may do the job just fine but I'll bet your hair will still feel damaged, expecially if you have hard water. If your attempting to remove a blonde color, only use it once and plan to restore your hair health afterward by using a protein treatment found at a Beauty retailer. (ex: Aphogee Two-Step Protein Treatment.) You could even use mayonnaise..leave on 1-2 hours and only rinse, do not wash out until the next morning and plan on using a moisturizing shampoo and possibly a leave-in conditioner as well.

Fabulous!! I was so nervous to use this but it works amazing! I had brown hair that I wanted to dye a "Natural dark brown"...but it came out BLACK AS CAN BE! I was really bummed and tried all the home remedies: Head & Shoulders, baking soda etc...and it washed out a tiny bit but not much...it was still super black. So I went with Color Oops and now my hair is a nice deep brown color and I am super happy! The roots are a tiny bit lighter than my hair but that is barely noticable unless you are staring at the roots.

This stuff totally totally worked for me....and I learned to never try to color my hair that dark again on my own.

Like many others on here, I made the mistake of trying to color my highlighted blonde hair back to my natural medium brown. Well, it ended up black. After going to the salon to have it fixed (they stripped it and re-dyed it), it was still black-ish (HUGE waste of money). I was hoping it would fade, so I had been washing with Prell and Head and Shoulders without much luck. I was scared at first to process my hair any more, but I'm so glad I did. Yes, the smell is pretty bad and tends to linger, but you can handle it. My hair was a light auburn and then I colored it a light ash brown to cover the red tone. Make sure to get an ash and a lighter color than you want so it's not too dark. My hair looks fantastic and doesn't feel too dry. I ABSOLUTELY recommend this product.

After reading different reviews I decided to give this stuff a try. I have been dying my hair different shades of red for over three years, usually the same color but not always. The very last time I dyed my hair, it came out three different tones/shades and looked very ruddish to me. So, I decided that I end with the red & go for something different. Maybe dye my hair a dark chocolate brown color with golden highlights. I followed the directions with Color Oops. It seemed to be a little watery to me (IT MAY BE DRIPPING ALL OVER IF YOU AREN'T CAREFUL It almost dripped into my eye the first 10 seconds I started putting it on!!!!) This stuff is not the consistency of regular hair dye. Once I realized this though, it went on fairly well. My hair is medium length so I had plenty to cover my whole head. Waited the 20 mins.... (It doesn't look like it's working) The results come after you get out of the shower. You have to shampoo and rinse two times in a row for it to work well. When I got out I had the exact shade that was displayed on the box. A dirty blonde/brownish/orangish color. Basically, A CLEAN SLATE to re-dye my hair. I wish it didn't state 'takes you back to your natural hair color' it should be phrased 'allows you to achieve your natural hair color with hairdye of your choice' because pretty much that's what it does. Think of it as a clean slate. Either way, the color (whatever you want to desribe it as) was even all over. I waited until it dried and used the color that I had picked out right after. It worked well, I have no more red peeking through......It's the chocolate brown with golden highlights that I wanted. No red peeking through at all which is what would of happened had I not used the Color Oops. Good stuff. Oh and it did feel very strange once it was all washed out, your hair FEELS damaged......but don't worry!!! IT ISN'T! It feels/looks like I only used regular hair dye. Ok so Ive become a hair color junkie. My husband is deployed and it seems I had went through every hair color you can think of (bleached blonde to deep chocolate brown.) In my continued fit of boredom I turned it dark burgundy. So much for people saying that red is hard to keep, it would NOT go away. Ugh!

So I tried Color Oops. I did the test strand and it grabbed quickly but turned it very brassy. I put in on my head and thankfully I watched it every few minutes instead of just leaving it in for the 20 minutes it recommended. Within in 5 minutes it was turning strawberry blonde. In about 6 minutes it had changed the color of the entire shaft.. the previous color had just evaporated.

I jumped in the shower did the 2 shampoos every 5 minutes process, and put on a protein conditioner. My hair suprisingly felt great and afterwards I used one of Natural Instincts Brass Free Hair colors. It did grab dark like the Color Oops directions said. But I didnt care at that point (and it was the lightest color in the Brass Free collection.)

My hair is still on my head, shiny and is NOT burgundy. I would say thats a success.

I had a complete miss dye about 2 or 3 months ago. My natural hair color is a dirty blond and before this dye my hair was a light brown. I got sick of the light brown and wanted to go darker brown and my mom did it at home. It was horrible. I have very very layered thick hair and the top layers were Jet Black, the middle dark brown, and the underneath was the same light brown as before. I had this color like I said for 3 months about and then I heard about this product. I went and got it after I read most of these reviews.

My hair is probably one of the thickest head of hair that you have ever seen. Basically I have A LOT of hair. So that might have been a reason it didn't take me back to my normal color. But I used it and did exactly what it said. My hair went from a tie dye black color to an even red brown. I basically used this to get rid of my black and that is what it did. It was a very long process and didn't get my natural color but somehow it gave me a color that I really like. So all in all it was a good deal for me : )

Basically I think it would work great on an average thickness hair but not on extremely thick heads like me.

i used a permanant hair color on my hair, with henna compound no less. but i was extremely desperate to get this black hair color out of my hair. it was supposed to be a dark brown to mask the errors of a bad highlight. so...it turned black in the coloring prossess so not what i was after. anyway did a little research on the web and found color oops. it took me a couple of days to get the courage to use it because of the henna, but i just used it and it took all the color off i was back to my natural color with the bad highlights. but i used a light brown hair dye without henna this time. im COMPLETLY happy with my results.

My stylist suggested that I add a little red to my hair for a more youthful look. I made a huge mistake by buying a dark brown burgundy, my hair is normally light to med brown. My hair grabbed the dark brown burgandy and looked black with a wine color, I hated it, I do not like unnatural colors on my hair...I was very upset and hated how I looked. After reading many of the comments online about this product, I rushed out to pick it up. I MUST CAUTION YOU!! WATCH THE CLOCK AND WATCH YOUR HAIR. After only 8 min. my hair was a pale yellow, it stripped everything out of my hair in only minutes...have a box of your hair color that you want handy, but leave on hair only 5 minutes at the most, since your hair is now lightened it will grab the color. I've been dying my light brown hair light golden blonde forever. Last summer I decided to go platinum and I loved how it looked on me..so did everyone else. But the last time I bleached it I went swimming the very next morning and fried my hair really bad. I mean really bad! So I was too afraid to bleach it anymore after that. A few months later I had brown roots coming in and knew I had to do something but bleaching was out of the question so I got my old golden blonde dye for my roots and was just gonna deal with the golden roots on platinum hair until my hair was in better shape to color all over. Then one day out of no where I got out of the shower with green hair! I hadn't used any new products and was told it was probably the water that did it. I got most of it out but you could still see some. So I went to a salon and showed the lady my mess of a head..the damage..the 4 colors I had at that point- plantinum, gold and brown roots..and the green. She was afraid to bleach it so she suggested doing my roots then adding the dye to the rest of my hair the last 10 mins. She brought out 2 swatches, one had ash blondes and one had light golden blondes. I told her no ash..because I found out the hard way what happens when ash is put on bleached hair..it turns gray! I picked the light golden blonde which looked exactly like my old color. So she finished my hair and toned it twice..dried it and it was some weird light brown shade with a grayish-green tint. I hated it!! I would rather walk around with my roots showing then the bigger mess she created for me! She must have decided that ash would come out better even though I told her no and she used it anyway! I was so sick to my stomach that night and everytime I looked in the mirror I didn't recognize myself! It looked like some odd color you'd find on an old lady wig! I remembered seeing Color Oops when I was searching the store for something to remove the green in my hair so I got online and started reading reviews. I decided that it was worth a try..but I was really scared I would end up with some strange orange color..or worse, I would have tons of breakage. I did a test strand and could see my old blonde color coming back after 10 mins, didn't notice any damage. I then put it on my whole head for the full 20 and followed the directions to a T. I used Redken rescuse force deep conditioner, rinsed, used my regular Redken conditioner, then blow dried my hair. It was blonde again!! No gray or green or brown anywhere! It was a pretty light golden blonde like the color I wanted in the first place. It was slightly brassy but it looked soooo much better. It's been 4 days and now it looks even better. The slight brassiness is gone and I look like a natural blonde! It didnt take the rest of my hair back to platinum which I am happy about..because now I one even shade of blonde..my roots match beautifully. I think that anyone who is thinking about using this must keep in mind that it will definitely take your hair a lot lighter but it depends on what color dyes you used in the first place. Someone that went from blonde to black might end up with a very light brown. And someone who went from blonde to red might end up orange..or strawberry blonde. Definitely do a strand test! I pulled my hair up and pulled out a small section..blow dried it when I was done and compared it to the rest of my hair. I suggest doing that if possible to see the results.

I recently made the "huge mistake" of coloring my ash blonde hair to brown. I thought it would turn out mouse brown, but no, it went to an auburne with lots of red, brassy stuff going on, and this was from my "stylist". Anyways, I tried this product and I was amazed..it stripped it back at least 2 color tones, but definitely not back to it's original color..and I went darker, not lighter. Well here's the crazy thing, It went back 2 tones and then a few hours later it went dark again, not as dark but still....dark with a lot of brassy stuff. Oh well back to the drawing board, I'm afraid to keep messing with it. I suppose I'll let it rest for a few days and then maybe try the "Color Oops" again...it definitely was an improvement from what it was before applying the product.

I accidentally dyed my hair blackest black..Stupid me didn't read the color on the box. I was looking for a dark brown. I called two hair salons; they said about $105.00 to fix.. Mom said check the internet. I found Color Oops for a price even i could afford. My mom put it in my hair like a dye goes in. waited 20 minutes and rinsed. Seriously, before trying this product I must have read hundreds of reviews and was a little scared but super glad that I took the plunge and used it. Last Saturday I woke up and decided it was time for a change and I was tired of being blonde so I went to the store and decided to be daring and dye my light blonde hair a lovely shade of reddish brown "sangria". well it turned out more red than brown and looked pretty cool. I talked with some friends and they informed me that it would turn pink in a couple of days bc of the blonde underneath it and told me i should put some more brown in. well i should of took my chances because after adding brown to the red it was very two toned. I panicked headed back to the store and grabbed another box of the sangria color that I liked so much before i added the brown. Well it came out nice and I got a lot of compliments on it but it still looked a little two toned and as a few days went by, the color started to fade a little funny. Well, I had picked up a box of Ooops at the same time I had brought the brown to add in for precautionary measures. Since I already had the box at home and was already starting to get tired of my drastic new look and non of my clothes seemed to look good with it I gave it a try. I did the strand test first to see if the full 20 minutes was needed (in my case it was - 3 boxes of color later). The strand test came out good so I decided to do the rest of my hair. I didn't think that the smell was nearly as terrible as so many other people made it out to be. I've smelled box colors that were worse than that so I guess it didn't bother me at all. I saw a difference after just the first ten minutes, all the color was lifting and you could see blonde again. I was amazed that it worked that quick! At the end of my 20 minutes I hopped in the shower and rinsed for 5 minutes, shampooed, rinsed for another 5 minutes, shampooed again, rinsed another 5 minutes, and then shampooed one more time. Rinsed again for 5 minutes and then put a deep conditioner on my hair. I left it in for about 5 minutes and then rinsed a last time for another 5 minutes. After 30 minutes of rinsing and shampooing I was done. When I got out of the shower, I was a blonde again! It was a little bit hard to brush my hair (most likely because of all the shampooing & rinsing - I have fine hair that tangles easy). I put some leave in conditioner in and towel dried it enough where it was damp and blew it dry. After coloring my hair for the last twelve years (always lightening it) I had forgotten what my natural color actually looked like! My hair came out to be it's natural lovely dirty blonde color and I couldn't be happier! The product didnt damage my hair at all, I would really recommend a top of the line deep conditioner though. The one that I used wasn't quite good enough in this case. But my hair looks great, feels great and I'm happy to be a blonde again! I seriously cannot get over how well this product worked!

Last night after hearing about Color Oops and reading the reviews I decided "What the heck, I'll give it a try" since I had covered up a very light blonde color with Jet black. I have very thick strong hair and It had constantly been fading into a charcoal gray ugly looking kind of color so I would just re-apply the black all over again...
I am the type of girl that loves drastic changes and to be honest with you, 6 months of black is the longest I've ever stuck to a color for, but it was for the sake of my hair because I was under the impression that "The only way to remove black dye was by bleaching/stripping it" and I just wasn't ready to do that since my hair was giving many signs of damage, I'm surprized I even have hair left after all I've done to it, so I was just planning on letting it grow out...
Well I tried Color Oops and it completely removed all the black right off!
When I was applying the product to my hair I immediately noticed the very awful smell, which normally doesn't bother me much, but I have athsma... I felt a tickle in my throat so I tried coughing it off, bad move... I felt my airways get tightened on the spot and there, I had an athsma attack. I hadn't experienced one this bad in about 3 years and mind you I color my hair all the time, hair dye smell doesn't bother me or my lungs, not even ammonia smell, but for some reason this rotton egg type of smell immediately gave me a reaction. I just pulled my inhaler out and within about 2 minutes it was all over. Left it in my hair for the 20 minutes and wrapped it up in paper towells since it was dripping much. Washed it out for about 15 minutes. My hair looked un-even because I had about 2 inches of new growth which had already been altered with the permanent black dye (These came out to be a nice medium golden brown, kind of like J-lo's hair). And whatever I had previously lightened went right back to a light blonde. No signs of red even though in the past I had pink and purple streeks which where also covered with the black.

So the whole reason why I tried this product was to see if it actually worked, now that it did, I'm going for a candy apple red all over! Can't wait! I will definitely use it again in the future, but next time I'll make sure I use some type of oxygen mask or something like it. :-)

I wanted to color my hair because it had grown alot out and I wanted a nice golden brown ( it was a brownish on top and blonde on bottom)...well it turned burgandy/dark alburn. Oops took that out and left it where I started. I should left the color alone then. Well dumb me went and colored again too soon and ...well even darker oops once more saved the day...then I figured I put an ash blonde...well that looked ok, but it had greenish tones-so I added a golden brown and..dark alburn again...so I have had one heck of a week full of tears. I gave it one more try, and yes perfection.. I Color oops, and it didnt take it back to the light brown blonde I started with..but it took out all the dark..and I was left with an light orange/blonde.. With all the research I did I then put a semi permanant suede brown. It turned my hair into a beautiful golden brown almost a strawberry blonde. I love my hair. Suprised its still there..lol I trimed my ends,few layers... deep conditioned. Never use permanent hair color. Especially if your hair is like mine. Each time I colored I only lefted it on 5 minutes and it soaked it all up. The last time, 2-3 minutes was all I left the semi permanent on. SO use a rince, something that washes out in a month or two. Or get it colored by a professional. Goodluck. OOps will help u save ur day- along witha little faith. ;)

This was a life saver! I had the worst experiance colouring my hair last night. I started dying my hair after work at 10 pm and the power went out! I'm on well water, and the water doesn't run without electricity. I had to rinse in the dark, with ice cold bottles of water. Needless to say it didn't set properly. I bought this after reading mixed reviews. It seriously doesn't smell as bad as some people are saying, it's pretty faint. I left it in for the recommended 20 minutes and shampooed twice. It did turn my hair a red/orange but it wasn't bad. It even removed reminates of 2 month old hair dye. I was able to re-colour the same day, and it looks great. I couldn't be happier. I would keep a box of this in my cabinet for an emergency. Awesome product.

I naturally have dark blonde hair that I've been dying for the past year or so to darker shades. I tried a deep auburn and was appalled -- it looked awful and fake. I decided to strip my hair rather than dye over it. Color Oops seemed a far better choice than the typical harsh color stripper. While the product was a bit drippy during application, it ultimately stayed on my hair and certainly didn't smell any worse than the hair color I'd used that same morning. I left Color Oops on for twenty minutes, then rinsed . . . and rinsed . . . and rinsed! After two washings (using violet-based shampoo meant to take out brassy tones), my hair was completely retored to its natural color. It only took one application, which is great, and didn't damage my hair (I followed the provided suggestion of using a deep conditioner immediately after removing the hair color). Thanks to this product, I will never again feel the need to color my hair!

One day in October I decided to dye my light Dirty Blonde hair to a darker brown. I did this on my own (actually my mom did) and it didnt dye all my hair. So i got another box a couple days later and it turned my hair close to black. I freaked out and got it professionally colored. It was still dark, but I dealt with it. Then a couple months later (March actually) I came across color oops. So i decided to try it and I actually did so tonight. No visible color was washed out when i rinsed and washed several times. Then I blow dried my hair right after and my hair was a shade or two lighter. It did make a difference but it didnt bring me back to my natural blonde color. Maybe tomarro it will be lighter? but THE SMELL IS ABSOLUTLEY AWFUL AND DISGUSTING.

It may not have made my hair the natural color because my hair was died for so long (5 months) so if you are in this same situation watch out! Dont be disappointed if your color does not completly return to its natural
color. It will lighten your color but wont fully take it out.

I had my hair colored at a professional salon. Instead of the beautiful medium red I asked for, I came away with a dark black-brown that glowed purple red in the sun! It was so artificial looking. I was horrified. Rather than put a pillowcase over my head like the elephant man, I researched on the net and came across this website. (Thank you to all who commented before me.) I used it that very day. It pulled everything out. Exactly like it says in the directions, I came away with a altered base that was ready to accept any color I wanted. I picked a warm brown. It did grab the color a little aggressively like the info says.( They recommend picking a lighter shade than you want because of this. I should have listened.) But the end result is a very natural brown that I can live with. It was very gentle to my hair. Years ago I had a similar incident in which I went back to the salon to do what is called a french shampoo to pull color out. They mix peroxide with shampoo. It only lifts maybe one to two shades and it left my hair feeling like straw. It was very damaging. I knew not to try that again. I loved this product. Isn't chemistry amazing?

I have been dying my hair for years. I have almost always used store bought hair color either from a beauty supply store or a boxed brand like walgreens carries. I am all about dramatic looks, so I decided this spring break to bleach in some nice paramore style highlights, and take the rest of my hair to a really dark brown. I put in highlights first, then foiled in the dark color. As my sister foiled in the brown, she ran out and decided to use a box of a "similar" (in her opinion) color she had. It (that "similar" color) turned out to be black and white (I seriously bleached, its my style ok) hair around my face, and brown in the back. Not good. I went to walgreens after reading mixed reviews and chose this product over the other brand they carry (it looked old and id never heard of it). I used it to great results. The process was quick and simple. It also really does not smell that bad, these people are pansys. It left my hair a light orangey brown with my highlights. Very paramore. I am now in the process of dying over that color. The black was completely removed, and my hair, though it had two different browns in it, was one even color.

NOTES:

-I used this product within 12 hours of dying my hair.
-I used a dye brush to apply it evenly.
-My hair has been dyed countless times, and never before has it been stripped.
-My past 6 dye jobs have all been the same feria espresso brown (very dark) which I love. This new dye I used was Garnier (i liked) and my sisters "similar" dye that turned black was loriel or something.
-My natural hair color is probably a light to mid ash brown, I dont remember.
-My hair isn't really any more damaged than before, only a tad dry.
-I am Caucasian and have fine hair, but a lot of it (thick and past my shoulders in length). I made 1 box work.


KEEP IN MIND:

This will not remove any bleaching, only color. So if you have lightened your hair it wont go back to the original darker color. Once this process of removing color is complete, go ahead and dye your hair again (with better luck). This is not meant to create a finished look, only to aid in removing a bad one.

I did not excpect this to work miracles after all my hair has been dyed black for 8 months now. I looked all over the internet trying to find something to work. It was very easy to use especially if you are used to dying your own hair. I saw some difference it lightened the back of my head up from black to a med brown but did not do anything for the rest. Now my hair in the back looks blotchy. It did lighten my hair up from a deep black to a very dark brown. Suprisingly did not do much for the top of my hair either were the growth is coming in I had placed a med dark shade of brown at the top so I could work on growing out my black so that it would not look completely gross. This product would be good if your hair is all one shade or a med brown or lighter color. Definitely will not use again.

So, I decided to dye my hair for the first time ever! My natural color is dirty blonde to medium brown. I dyed it medium auburn (permanent) and it turned my roots a very brassy orange but the rest of my hair looked fine...until I washed it then I ended up with this orange glow!!! Yuck! So, desperately, I decided to get some semi-permanent medium brown to darken the orange. It worked...but my roots were definitely a different color than the rest of my hair. So, I read up on Color Oops and decided to give it a whirl. I was so scared that all of my hair would turn a light orange!! I followed the directions exactly...and voila!! All of the reds and oranges came out and my hair ended up a shade lighter than my natural hair color...which I love!!!!! My roots ended up a natural yellowish color...but not gross looking at all. I cannot believe this actually worked. My hair seems a little dry but nothing a good deep conditioning wouldn't fix. I have no regrets!!! Hope it works as well for you!!!

this prodcut was fantastic. I had tried to color my hair with black tips. It didn't get like the picture I saw and I didn't know what to use. I didn't want to pay a salon either. I have to give a review because I would not be sitting here with a beautiful color on my hair now if it were not for the reviews I read on this website. It felt good to know I am not the only one with this problem - some of the stories were a lot worse!! I hope I can help someone else. I naturally have light brown hair which I have been highlighting for a few years. My brown roots were growing in and I felt my highlights were way too blonde and just too much. Also I looked pale and older. I went to a professional colorist and I told him that I wanted to warm up my color a few shades because it was too blonde. Well he sure warmed it up, because somehow, the top layer of my head was bright bright red and the underlayer was the perfect light golden brown!! Boy did I have a rough few days of teasing from my family and funny looks from other parents at my kid's school! Anyway, after washing my hair at least 24 times in 5 days with dandruff shampoo and combing the shampoo with a fine tooth comb, the color faded a little, but I can tell the red was there to stay. It was not flattering on me. I cannot believe I still even have hair after all that. Now this is what I did: I summoned the courage to buy Color Oops (regular strength conditioning formula). I was very nervous as I have a knack for making things like this worse the more I touch it. (In my teens and 20s I had color mistakes and had to use those stripping all the color removers, which were extremely damaging.) I tried the strand test, which did not really work for me. So I said, what could be worse than this? I read the mostly great reviews and decided to go for it. I put it on for 20 minutes. When I rinsed, the top layer that was red turned a nasty yellow color. I washed and rinsed for 10 minutes. Again the next day. Then I read more reviews and got a great tip from a woman with a similar situation. I bought a box of Loreal Preference hair color in Natural Dark Blonde. I found the key was to get the natural tones (on the box it says warm, cool or natural) because it is neutral and does not add reds or yellows. I did a strand test (very important!!!). Again, I was terrified! Will it turn green, blue, red again? A lot of people said to get a lighter shade than you want because your hair is pourous from all the processing and will suck up any color like a sponge - also do not leave on for the entire 30 minutes. I rinsed after 5 minutes. Guess what? It was the perfect shade of light golden brown with very subtle highlights coming through - gorgeous!! No red, no yellow!! I jumped for joy through the house and my family was as happy that this hair disaster was over as I was! A week later the color has not faded nor changed. The funny stares are being replaced with lots of compliments. The important things to know are to do a strand test on the new color. Color Oops works, but you have to follow the directions and I noticed the people who were not happy either probably did not wash and rinse enough or they did not redye. It did not bring my color back to its lightest so I had to redye. Maybe I needed to use another box? But the important thing is in the end, I got the color I desired in the first place. Also, my hair was pretty damaged from ironing, highlights, coloring and all the shampooing, then Color Oops. Now, after using the latest haircolor and the conditioner that comes with it, it is healthy and soft as silk. Go figure? I thought for sure I'd have to get it all chopped off! Oh and the last thing I want to mention is the smell of the Color Oops was worth the result. It goes away. You get your color back. It is a very small price to pay!

This created more problems! First it did not lift the color evenly from the whole head...nearest the roots lifted to orangey while the middle of my hair lifted maybe a single shade and the roots maybe two shades lighter. When I redyed my hair I ended up with two breaks in color at these places. And worse it damaged my hair making it more pourous so that it picked up color even more intensely and now is darker than when I started (even though I chose a shade two shades lighter.) I used light brown but believe me, the middle is black and the roots are auburn. YUCK. I am very unhappy with this product and wish I had just spent the money for professional color correction but will have to wait for my hair to grow out due to the damage this product did. I had very healthy hair before this treatment. I definitly would not trust the reviews again! Buyer Beware!

This is the worst product ever. After researching for days and reading all the great reviews about it i decided to give it a try.[...] I followed the directions precisely! making sure everything was correct. Started out with soft black hair dye that i put on about a month ago (my hair is naturally med-dark brownish) after i washed and washed and washed like the directions said i got out and noticed an orange tint to my hair. Sooo i didnt freak out at first, i blow dried my hair than freaked out cause my hair was red. It was def lighter but it was nowhere near my original color. I have been coloring my hair constantly for the last 12 years. I honestly couldn't even remember what my natural hair color looked like. After coloring my hair an unflattering flat dark brown, almost black color, I wanted to go lighter. I (stupidly) used two other hair coloring products in an attempt to lighten it, but they only made my hair darker. I decided that the only way to get back to my medium brown color was to strip the color off. After reading all of the positive reviews, I ran off to Walgreens to buy Color Oops. I have to say, it worked really well. The product is definitely runnier than hair color, but I didn't have a problem with it dripping. I followed the directions to a T, and my hair is now probably two shades lighter than my natural color. I have lightened my hair in the past, so getting my "real" color back it probably isn't possible at this point. It's now a golden light brown, and I actually don't plan on coloring it anytime soon. The one problem - it smells HORRIBLE. Kind of like rotten eggs mixed with rotting chicken. Plan on chucking the stuff outside immediately after using it because it will stink up your whole house. All in all, I'm very pleased.

I've been dyeing my natually medium/dark blonde hair for the past four years to any color under the sun (red, dark brown, strawberry blonde, etc). Now that I'm over college and starting a new life in a new city I decided that I would go back to being a blonde again. I bought a box of medium ashe blonde a few months ago and it just made my hair an even nastier redish blonde color (probably because of the leftover red dyes from the old color). I had decided to let it "wash out" but it never did. I tried this product today and I didn't do a strand test and left it on for 20 minutes. If I were to do this again I would do a test first because my hair turned out very very blonde, but it did work very well for me. I am in the process of using another dye over it to tone down the bright blonde my hair became.

I love that this worked considering my small budget at the moment. I would say if you're on the fence about it, just buy it and try it, but definately do a strand test first. Also the smell isn't so bad, just a little perm-y smelling.

okay, so... i have dark brown hair naturally and a couple of months ago i put a lot of red in it. then i decided i didnt like the red so i dyed it back to dark brown, but it didnt last and washed out quickly... soooo i decided to dye it yet again to a soft black by nice n easy. HUGE MISTAKE! my hair turned out pitch black like elvira and angelina jolie during her goth phase. i dyed it on a thursday night and did the process at 4:20 pm on Saturday afternoon, after deciding that the color was very horrendous. needless to say, it was horrible. i knew i had to do something. i took a chance and bought this product. it worked amazingly! i applied it to my hair and then let it sit for 20 mins. i jumped in the shower and let it rinse out a bit, applied shampoo, and then rinsed for 20 mins. i applied shampoo again twice and then rinsed. then i added conditioner. i dried my hair and it was back to the natural brown with a bit of natural red in it. it looks fabulous!!! it smells terrible, but that's okay, it will go away in a day or two. bottom line, i have my beautiful brown hair back and will no longer be receiving staresthis product is awesome!

I had dyed my hair JET BLACK over a month ago i hated it because i felt it made me look like a plain jane..i reviewed this product for about a week before i decided to try it. my worst fear was it making my hair fall out since i use to dye it every other week so my hair isnt in the best shape...anyways i used this it turned my hair ultra light brown during the process i was shocked that i saw NO BLACK at all in my hair...i rinsed it out after 20 minutes and washed it (as it says to do) and went to bed thinking i had ultra light brown hair not really what i wanted but what ever the black was out..woke up and my hair was dark brown...its not what i wanted either but its better than black im using another one today..my hair was NOT damaged at all!! but over all this stuff works i just know now i would have to re-dye it the same day the color im going for! I loved this hair product. I have been lightening my hair for a little over a year now. I have had my hair all shades of colors. Recently I decided to have some red low lights put in and my hair was darkened all over from it (toner was put in too). I hated it. I searched the internet and was going to do Born Blond- but after consulting with a friend who used to be a stylist I decided against it. I found this product on the internet and bought it. It works! My hair is now beautifully Blond- and it still looks highlighted. My natural color is brown, but blond is the color for me. And the bad smell is from the sulfur in it- if you've ever smelled sulfur rocks in nature you'll recognize the smell. It's not that bad.

I recently decided to darken my hair, you know that seems to be the trend now a days, so I went to the store and bought Clairol Nice n Easy soft black. Soft black my husband say's how many shades of black have you ever seen. He laughed and I colored. Well 45 mins later it's all washed and ready to dry and omg! It's midnight black!!! I hurry and grab all the "home remidies" for emergency color removal and not one put a dent, so I grab my lap top and start researching. I was AMAZED by this product. I had very light bleached hair. I dyed it a dark red/plum color. I was not happy with the results and decided to try color oops to get my hair light enough to recolor. My expectations for this product were not high. I only hoped to get my hair light enough so that I could dye it light brown with no hint of red. dyed my hair black like a lot of other people and decided it made me look washed out n a little depressed.i almost didnt use this because of the mixed reviews... and noone had pix of before and after which i thought would be majorly helpful... so i took before and after pix for people like me who need more reassurance. so this stuff is basically like water not "runny" n its not any worse than regular hair dye.i only did the top of my head and left the underneath black... and there was plenty of the left over so i drenched my hair with it. after i put it in it didnt seem like this was gunna work.after 15 min i checked and only the spots where i used to have highlights looked like it was getting lighter...i ended up leaving it in for an hour.my hair looked a dark carmel brownish colori washed it out wit lots of shampoo and intensive conditioner for 15 min. later when it was almost dry i washed it again.it was pretty dry at the ends when it was done...today it looks like it did darken a bit. i washed it again and deep conditioned for and hour or 2 (just left it in my hair with a plastic bag) and its not dry feeling anymore.so its medium brown at the top n gets darker to the ends... which isnt to bad for me since i just wanted to get the black out n was planning on bleaching it after with highlights meant for dark hair.im waiting a few days to do that though.so basicallygets black outbut if you had a dark color underneath its guna leave it a dark color still.better than trying to bleach it straight from black to a light color.im putting links to pictures from before during and after for reluctant people like me... if they dont work... The important thing to remember about this product is that it removes pigments, not bleach. That means if you used a blonde color on your hair it will remove only the pigment/toner part of the dye. You will be left with bright very light orange or yellow hair- BUT DON'T PANIC! Just make sure you also purchase a semi-permanent color to go over it. I tried to color my hair strawberry blonde but it came out dark orange, used Color OOps and it got out the orange but I was also left with bright yellow hair. This was a great base for a medium caramel blonde semi-permanent and it looks great!

I have colored my hair for 20 years. My natural color is dirty blonde and I have always lightened it to a lighter blonde. Well last night I decided to do the stupidest thing I think I ever did and I colored my hair red with Furia. Not only did my hair come out some bizarre burgandy but it didn't take to all my hair. The top was burgandy with horrible blonde streaks and the rest looked like a putrid muddy brown. I looked like a t-shirt that got washed with red clothes and it ran on me. Needless to say I freaked out and started investigating what to do at home because I didn't have the money to pay a colorists hundreds to fix this. So this morning I ran to Walgreens and picked up two boxes of color oops just in case. Well I followed the directions exactly but my hair looked like it was turning orange and I started to worry it wouldn't work. I left it in for twenty minutes in a warm room and finally rinsed it out in the shower washing it twice and conditioning it a lot. When I dried my hair low and behold it was blonde again. It was much lighter thn my natural color and had a bit of natural looking auburn highlights but let me tell you I am soooo happy that the burgandy is gone and it was dark dark burgandy! I know I'll need to use a toner and recolor my hair but it looks worlds better than what it did. I wll never ever make that stupid mistake again with color I swear! But this stuff was so worth it for me and saved me from a nightmare! I would have payed a ton at the stylist and [$] later my hair looks pretty close to what it was before pretty cool. Yes it does have a sulfur smell but it doesn't smell nearly as bad as hair dye does to me and those on here that are complaining about the smell must wear nose plugs when they color their hair because that stinks way worse!

This product was a total waste of money. My natural hair color is a medium brown. I decided to dye it black just a few days ago....something new. Well, I hate it. Heard about this product through my colorist I usually go to...$10 a box compared to $120 for the salon, I figured I'd try the box. I had to buy 2 of the boxes. A friend of mine had to help me and the lightest we could get it down to was just a tough of light brown. Keep in mind that was with the product sitting in my hair for over an hour. "20 minutues??...." After just a few hours, I attempted to put a color back in my hair. Afterall, the box does say that you can re-color that same day. No wording of how long to wait or anything. Just "same day"....so I proceed to put the closest color that is to my natural, just as the box says to, and what does it do?....turns my hair right back to JET BLACK....except it almost looks GRAY. Needless to say I am disgusted. I wasted over $30 at Walgreens and although I knew I probably couldn't get a refund, I still tried and was told no. Even though the "beauty advisor" or w/e her title was, helped me through each of the products. So now I'm stuck with black/gray hair and a [$] dent in my pocket.....

I, like many others, decided to dye my hair black. Big mistake! I have used other color removing products in the past (I dye my hair a lot) and none worked like they said they would. most of them damaged my hair bad. I looked color oops up on the internet and read the reviews. I ran to the store and grabbed some and I just got done rinsing. Its awsome. I am going to have to stock up in case I decide to be brave again and experiment! It smells a little bad, but not as bad as the dye that I use. Minor inconveinence for a great product that works!

This horrible landfill smelling product works so well I was able to tolerate the smell as Im sure many others have. I had Blue/Black in my naturally VERY LONG blonde hair and it worked like a breeze. Conditoned very well and was good to go.

I recently went to my stylist to have my hair color returned to its original brown, and had her add a burgundy cellophane over the top. The results were MUCH too dark, and the burgundy looked pink. In the daylight it was even worse. I wanted to crawl under a ROCK for 4 months until it faded.

I read all the product reviews here for Color Oops, and decided to give it a shot, because anything HAD to be better then what I HAD.

I was terrified at first to try it.

I used two bottles, because I have hair past my shoulders and it is very thick.
Applying the product was super easy.
I left the product on my hair for the full 20 minutes that the directions instruct. When your hair is wet, its hard to gauge the true color correction of the product as it works, but at the end of 20 minutes, I DID see lightening of my hair occurring.

Note that this product strips your hair of allll styling product and it leaves it literally SQUEAKY clean. The rinsing process is LONG, and I used water as hot as I could stand.

After this, I saturated my hair with Cholesterol Hair Condiotioning Cream (also available at Walgreens) and sat under a heat cap for 30 minutes.

The RESULT?

SUCCESS!!!!
I can only liken it to time traveling back to the day BEFORE I got the bad color!!!
I am SOOO pleased with this stuff.

I haven't rinsed my hair since July. I am now naturally salt and pepper. Lately I noticed my gray was violet and I only wanted to get back to the salt and pepper. Went to Sxxxxs and asked the beauty consultant there who suggested I use the Darkest Warm Brown rinse to tone down the violet. Well to my surprise after application not only was my hair still violet but now it was green and yellow also. Rushed online and saw information on Oops. Took a little advice from everyone, applied the awfull smelling life saver in a bottle, sat under the dryer for about 10 minutes and followed directions on box. Use a conditioner and everything will be alright. It turned me back to the salt and pepper which is okay. Good Luck, but give it a chance!!

This product is amazing! I used it after using black hair dye for 4 months and it restored my hair to it's natural shade of brown. I definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to get rid of darker color and can not afford to go to a hair salon. The hair salon is just too expensive and why pay the money when there is an effective product for about $10. It's extremely gentle with no bleach. NOTE: If you dyed your hair lighter than your natural color and now want to remove it, expect orange. I've read so many reviews complaining about orange hair. Do not hold it against the product because it warns you not only in the directions but on the box too. If you have a lighter color and want to dye it darker my recommendation is to just dye it that color right away. This product is more for people like me who dyed their hair black and want to go lighter again.

I had pretty, dirty blonde hair. Because I'm an idiot I decided to dye my hair red. I used Revlon Colorist and it was the wrong color so I used Feria. The color was bright red so the next day I went to a salon and that woman turned my hair a black-purple! I was so upset I cried. I looked this stuff up, did a strand test and it really worked! My hair looks a little orange but I like it! Color oops took three colorings out of my hair. And the stuff dosn't smell that bad! It smells citrusy! It's the best stuff in the whole world! Use it! You will literally save yourself 100's of dollars (trust me, I know...), and you'll probably like the color it turns out.

Yesterday I went to my normal stylist. I had blonde highlights on light brown hair for 4 years, so it was time for a change. Very excited for the change I talked to the stylist telling her I wanted brown lowlights with just the slightest hint of red. Well... she decided to do all over color: RED. After my mom and I told her we hated it (I have pale skin so it looked horrid on me)she put on top of that a medium brown. It reduced the red a little but not as much as we wanted. Today we both knew I could not keep it. Upon research we came across Color Oops...who ever thought of this is a GENIUS!!!! The smell wasn't unbearable, it was fast, easy...totally worth every penny!! If you hate a bad hair color job- Get this product- you will not be sorry!! Now, it made my hair look like a dark strawberry blonde, I love it :)

Going stir-crazy on vacation from school, I used a semi-permanent dye to darken my medium-brown hair. Because I was a little over-eager, I ended up with JET BLACK (Almost blue!!) hair! It did not look natural. I looked like I was wearing a wig. It was awful.

This product is a hair saver! It smells really bad and burns a little bit but my hair is restored to almost its natural color. It is a little darker but I like it. Use this if you went black and you regret the decision!

Note: I used it about 24 hours after I dyed.

yes it does smell a little ,but no more than when you color your hair. I had some serious red overtones from years of coloring and wanted to get back to being a brunette.Even though the product states its for darker colors I thought
I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. It worked great,but I did as suggested and did some deep conditioning before using this product then again afterwards. I waited till the next day then re-colored closer to my natural color. I again did some deep conditioning afterwards. It really stripped the overtones out. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely use this product again. The instructions aren't difficult at all.

Ok, so I was VERY desperate. I'm 15 years old and I had natural Blonde hair and my mom decided one day to have me go to the salon and get the underneath part of my hair dyed Magenta. It was really cute, and I liked it a lot, because I love standing out. And I was excited because it was the first time I have ever dyed my hair. But, my basketball coach didn't. So I figured I would just let the color fade. But, unlike the first two times I dyed it pink, what was SUPPOSED to be a two week dye, turned into two months. I was getting very desperate because I don't really like the way the bench feels. ha. So, I looked on the internet for ANYTHING I could find and I came across Color Oops. Normally I don't trust reviews but I was up for anything at this point. So about an hour ago I went to walgreens and bought it. Although it said not to use one pinks and only for recent dyes, I figured I would try and I am very glad I did. The smell isn't strong and doesn't smell that bad. I found this product on this website and was so excited I could finally fix thedreadful mistake I had made by dying my hair. My hair is normally a medium reddish brown. My hair is naturally a dark brown and of course I wanted something I didn't have which was a beautiful blonde. After many months of heavy highlights and much breakage due to the bleach i was sick of the roots and maintenance so I decided I wanted my brown back. Well, 2 nights ago i went to the store and picked up some dark brown hair dye...of course it turned me pretty much jet black, almost dark purplish. I thought I could live with it until it faded but tonight decided to look into things on the internet, that is when I found Color oops! It stripped the black out and at first left me orangie and sordof pinkinsh so I had to add more color. I used Natural Instincts golden brown (something a bit ighter that what I wanted) but since my hair was so pourous from the damage it ended up turning m y hair to the color I desired, thankgod! I dyed my hair red after 2 years of nothing and I immediately regretted it. For a month and a half I've been using a stripping shampoo and trying to redye over it, but to no avail. The red persevered. Until now, mwahahaha. I used the Color Oops, not really expecting much, since I had dyed over the color a couple of times and it said it would only work on the first layer of color. But it worked on ALL of the colors, yay! I am a blonde again and I am so happy! No more red for me ever again! (or if i go crazy again, I know what to do)

On Christmas Eve at 4.00 I thought it would be fun to change from my strawberry blonde to a mid brown (which is my natural color) BIG mistake. The mid brown reacted with my lightened porous hair and went a dark Goth "Elvis" shade. Of course all the stores had closed to I suffered the ridicule of Christmas parties (thank goodness for Santa hats!)having time on Christmas day I researched online and came across all these reviews for Color Opps. 8.30 this morning I was outside the pharmacy with my money in hand. By 10.30 I was normal again! Thank you Thank you. It was either this or the clippers were coming out for a buzz cut! The product was easy to use, I rinsed and rinsed and finished with an intense conditioning masque. My hair is soft and glossy, a little darker than before but I like it. I don't notice the smell to be any worse than when I dye and after three shampoos and intense conditioner there is barely a residual odor. Next time I color I'll have a box standing by and would highly recommend to all "accidental Goths".

I am in disbelief over this product. I had light blonde hair until 3 months ago when some BAD hairdresser made me a bruntte. I tried to fix it myself twice but the color was really sticking. This was at a last resort before I went and paid the big bucks at a salon. Needless to say I am a blonde again!! I may have left it on abit to long because I think I am a shade lighter than before, but who cares...I got my hair back!! My hair is not nearly as damaged as I thought it would be. I had dark blonde hair with roots! So I purchased a lt. brown color...my hair turned black!! I hated it! So I purchased this, and it lightened my hair just enough. I would only recommend this if you dyed your hair a really dark color, and your natural color is light.

I've dyed my black three times just to keep up with the roots that came in and eventually I became weary of having to go through this process every two months. I came to the conclusion that I wanted a change before leaving for our Christmas vacation but couldn't make an appointment in time. I've tried stripping a dark color long ago but it only made my roots this awful yellow, the middle orange, and the tips bright red...which made it horrible to dye evenly. It looked like my head was raining fire. Plus, my hair was dry afterwards. I'd decided to try this product and not only did it live up to it's standards, I'm not even sure if I really want to re-dye my hair. It turned out a really pretty deep red/brown. My hair smells little like rotten eggs (even after two sessions of shampoo and three rinses) but I really don't mind. It's still soft and the black is gone!

This product was great. Last time my hair was colored the girl went way to dark for me. It was getting darker with each touch up. I had to get back to lighter brown. Now, this oops product will kind of take your hair to an orangy color(at least for me) but when I colored over it with a medium brown it turned out really good. Several yrs. ago I used the other product by L'Oreal that stripped my hair and it did not work too good. But this OOPS was gentle although it smelled. It worked that's all I know and I'm satisfied with it - not harsh on the hair. I would recommend but just don't panic if you get an orangy color at first.

I read so many great reviews on this product, and ended up being very dissapointed. I had wanted to dye my hair dark brown from my light natural brown color, and it ended up looking almost black! So I got Color Oops and tried it. It smelled horrible and the smell stayed in my hair for the next few days, no matter how much I rinsed.
I thought it worked after I got out of the shower and blow-dried my hair, because the color was almost back to it's original shade but had a tint of red it in for some reason. The next day, it seemed to be almost the same color as when I dyed it, but I thought maybe I was going crazy. 2 days later, my hair color was back to the poopey black brown color I had accidently dyed it in the first place.
I read a few more articles that rated this product as a 1, and a few of them had the same problem. Most people write their reviews right after they wash the Color Oops out, but if you wait, the color seems to turn back to the dreaded color you didn't want.
I was VERY dissapointed!

This is the best new thing in your haircolor wardrobe! Any time you change to a different brand/color, and things go so badly that you don't want to leave the house...or color "Grabs," that one area.....it's Color Oops, to the rescue!!! This product really works. My roots were showing and I had wanted to color my hair so that it matches my natural hair color, which is dark brown (almost black). Loreal has a soft black hair color which looked dark brown on the box, when I had used it, my hair turned pitch black instead. I was told that I had to use bleach to strip down my hair, however I read the product reviews for Color Oops and found a lot of positive feedback. After using this product, my hair turned dark brown from pitch black, which is what I originally wanted. The product was very easy to use and the smell is not bad at all. It does not smell any worse than applying hair color.

(I left it on my hair for 15 mins, instead of 20 and had tested a strand of hair prior to using it.)

Since my natural hair is dark and I had used dark color before, I had no need to recolor my hair after using Color Oops.

I recently decided it was a good idea to dye my hair bright red. Althought it was a pretty color it wasn't appropreiate for my current job. So in an attempt to fix this problem I created I dyed my hair the next day dark brown. It turned out PURPLE! I was so disappointed. I actually had to go to work like that for a few days. I realized soon that i need to fix it and tryed several hair salons. They were going to charge me 120$. So I found this product and used it right away. It turned my hair back to my natural medium brown with alittle hint of auburn red. Which is fine bc its just a color shade over from my natural color. I was so happy. I have naturally redish dark blonde hair, and I decided to dye my hair black. I would have loved the color, but as I have found out, my red-ish darkblonde hair does not let me dye my hair black verry well because you can see it through the black dye. My friend recommended it to me, she said that it was fantastic because she always dyes her hair all kinds of colors. I should not have listened to her. I bought two boxes of this product, just in case. I followed all of the directions, thinking it would work. I stepped out of the shower and blow dried my hair. It looked horrible. It did not get much of the black out, except for some baseball size light brown SPOTS...
and you were still able to see the red. Thinking that it cant get any worse, i tried it with the other box, and it didnt get worse, it just didnt change at all. Later I found out from my friend at school that the back of my head was orange/brown. Emo kids kept on complimenting my hair, every one else just starred at my hair. I had to redye it black 3 times in a row so that the supposed permanent color would stay on my hair...how nice....

This has been a crazy weekend for me and my hair. I've had every imaginable color out there. Started with black and the origional plan was to use color oops to rid the black, bleach and tone my hair to a nice blonde. However, i was pleasantly surprised that after using color oops my hair was a nice healthy reddish brown. i loved it more than my intended hair color so i returned the blonde shades and bought a red instead. I hadn't had red hair for the longest time i could remember so i was excited to try something a lot of ppl hadnt seen me with. Unfortunately, the red i bought turned my roots bright auburn and the rest of my hair black..AGAIN! i broke down crying knowing i'd had this beautiful red color and somehow ruined it. i still dunno how that red haircolor turned my hair black again but it was out to buy some more color oops. two boxes later again and i had an even prettier auburn. i learned my lesson the first time and have decided not to mess with it for now. its lighter (almost blonde) at the roots and some pretty browns and reds all over. love it. i was really shocked at how well this stuff worked and believe it or not, it took me to a desired color alone without anymore haircolor. the biggest downside is that it smells horrible and will follow you around for days but overall color oops is easy to use, gentle and colorless so no mess. it did the job for me!!

Okay so like i saw my friend at school and she had light pink color in her hair so i went to the store and got some pink hair die. I put it in and it was hot pink!! I have had it for about 2 weeks and now i am board of it! so i went to walgreens and got color oops. i put it in and washed it twice and it just didn't work. so i did it a second round and still no color is out!!!!!!!! I bought this today after reading all the wonderful reviews on it, but they LIE! I had about an inch and a half of roots showing (light brown) and the rest was dyed black. Work was hassling me about having two-toned hair (I'm military) and demanded that I strip it or cut it off. I tried this product and now have about 4 different tones of RED. (EVEN MY ROOTS TURNED RED WHERE THERE WAS NO DYE.) I left it on for the required 20 minutes and washed twice and conditioned as the box said and this is a DISASTER. I don't even know if I can dye this to a light brown with how much red there is, I will most likely be forced to bleach it and wait a few weeks to try to dye it to a light brown.

I'm naturally blonde. I was light blonde when I was a kid, but as I grew older my hair turned darker and kinda mousey (I'm 24). I used to occasionally use Revlon Colorsilk when I wanted a slight change, since it usually gives highlights instead of drastic overall color changes (maybe because it's cheap, but I love it). This time I tried Garnier Nutrisse 100% color in a strawberry blonde color, and GOOD LORD it turned bright auburn red. Nothing blonde about it.

Color oops took the red out and brought me back to my original haircolor, when I was a kid! It's not entirely dry yet, but I can tell that it's lighter than before I ever colored it, but natural looking. There's no red left except in two tiny spots where I didn't put enough product(hahaha!), but the rest of the results are perfect. I ran a comb through it while it was developing to make coverage more even.
As for the smell.... yeah, there's a smell. The second ingrediant is "hydrosulfite": the sulfite part contains one sulphur molecule to every three oxygen...... SO that's why people complain of it smelling like all sorts of different things. The sulphur. No amount of fragrance they added covered up that smell. And no amount of fancy pants shampoos will initially cover it up either.

Use it if you need to. It works. DO NOT use it before a hot date, or around anyone who doesn't have a sense of humor. I'm assuming, like all haircolor products, the smell will fade in a day or two. Here's hoping!

okay, i died my hair jet black about 3 months ago, i figured after time that the color would eventually fade back to natural brown color. After months went by and trying to dye my hair over and over, nothing worked, and i gave up! It worked on my hair and I was amazed. Normally I don't believe any comments written about a product because they never seem to live up to expectaions. I had colored my hair a dark red about 3 or 4 times, re-layering the color, and it took it all out. To the point that my hair is a lighter blonde.

okay, so i am a ballet performance major at an arts college. one week i decided to get my hair dyed a light blond (up form medium brown). my hair got bleached and colored, and for a few days, it looked good. as the color started to settle, though, it turned an almost neon yellow! my pointe instructor gave me the most disapproving look i've ever seen, so i decided to try and find a way to get my old color back. this stuff didn't seem to make a difference at first, as the bleached hair and the color were virtually the same, but after using this stuff and applying a medium brown hair colorant, i am looking like my old self again. it really does work on lightened hair, so don't be a skeptic!
The only reason I only give this product a 4 of 5 is that the online instructions for the product were different from the ones that came in the box. The online ones were more descriptive, particularly about conditioner and rinse times.

Okay so I have been coloring my hair since I was 16 and I have lost sight of my natural hair color. I bought this 2 days ago because I have gone from blonde to a burgandy blackish brown. I was sick of compounding salon and box color. So I put this on and washed it 4 times as instructed and holy cow! It took my hair back to a brassy blonde on top and the bottom was blondish brown. I was so happy! So I then put on a natural dark brown box colour and I only waited 5 minutes then I rinsed and conditioned like mad and I have a Beautiful natural looking dark brown hair color! This product is a miracle worker!!! My hair was NOT brittle, if you dye your hair afterwards leave the box color conditioner on your hair for 10minutes and you will NOT have brittle hair.

Being out of money and bored I grabbed a box of color off the shelf and stepped into a hair nightmare. My hair went from dark blond to red to jet black with the texture of straw. In desperation I decided to try Color Oops, I really had no faith that it would work but other options involved lots of money and time. I followed the directions, prayed and it worked!!! I am amazed and extremely happy with my new color (a light brown/dark blond.) I don't know if it was the product,the prayer or both but I am thrilled and recommend trying it if you have a similar situation.

I did same as most went dark for boredom and a change...well CHANGE I got! I am naturally some color blonde!?!? I was strawberry blonde as a child and it was so pretty..BUT ya know when we get older our lite blonde hair tends to darken somewhat...THIS PRODUCT GAVE ME BACK MY strawberry blonde hair...i am almost speechless it's like lookin at my childhood photo!! HAVE I been dying my hair that long...I thought!! Also I have VERY FINE hair and so I was VERY HESITANT and believe me I did PLENTY of research before this decision. I was about to give up and face the idea that there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I could do and I would just have to wait forever for it to grow out and being miserable in the meantime. ALSO PLEASE people remember this will only work if you went DARKER than your natural color...as I see some people putting this product down BUT failing to mention their color situation!!! So, I have been using Sun-In in my hair for over 3 years. My hair looked bleach blond..it was beautiful. It went with my skin tone and everything. I forgot what I looked like with my natural hair color, so i got pictures out, and decided to dye my hair back to its natural hair color. Well, once a professional dyed it...i hated it. It was such a big change. I literally cried over my hair!! Every time I looked in the mirror I looked so different. I wanted my beautiful bleach blond hair back. I was gonna just wait until the dye washed out..but a professional hair stylist said the dye might stain my hair..so i was so ticked off..and scared. I did research online and I bought color oops. I was scared to try it because the reviews said it smelled horrible and sometimes it didn't turn back to the hair color before. I used color oops and it didn't smell as bad as i thought it would smell at all. It turned my hair back to its blond!!! Its still a tad darker than the bleach blond..but its still bright blond and i LOVE IT! i am so happy to be back to normal looking. My hair isnt damaged at ALL ..its silky smooth.

I am greatly disappointed after reading so many great reviews on this product. I did a swatch test before to make sure it didn't damage my hair and find out how long to leave it on and to see how much of the color it would take out. However, after applying it to the rest of my hair it didn't take out any of the color and it made it horribly dry and brittle (even after deep-conditioning it). I am unsure of what the difference in use was because I did the same for both. I would not use it again (if the case were I needed a second application) because of all the damage it caused to my hair.

I went to a salon to get my hair dyed to dark brown. I had medium brown hair with faded highlights before. After she was done my hair turned out JET BLACK. I was rather shocked and dissappointed!! She told me it would fade after a few washes. After 1-2 washes, I noticed little fading. I was desperate and went out to buy Color Oops after reading all the reviews here and from a friend. I did a strand test and it changed colors in 10 mins so I began to put it all over my head. After about 18-20 mins I saw a really light brassy brown color. The black was GONE!!! =)
I was really happy...now my hair looks auburn/orangey/reddish brown, which is not so bad looking! I'm gonna tone it after a week or so. BUY this product if you HATE how gothic your hair looks and want to go back to a lighter shade of brown. Highly recommend this! Not damaging at all, just use conditioner! Follow directions carefully too!

I decided to go darker for the fall and winter season. I chose a medium brown. I colored my hair last night and i was horrified. It was jet black with purple highlights. This morning, I called Clairol and was told that there is no way of lightening it at home and that I needed to go to a salon. Well, I started searching the web and came across this product. I went to Rite Aid after reading almost all of the reviews. I came home and did a patch test. I left it on for the full 20 mins that it tells you to. It removed all the black but left it a little lighter than I wanted. I decided to go ahead and do all of my hair. I just kept checking and when I noticed it was the color i wanted, I began the rinse process. It is a wonderful product. I am back to the color I was last night and I'm not so sure that I want to take the chance and go darker. I highly reccommend you use Color Oops.

I got my hair colored to cover some natural lightening by the sun-I have medium to dark brown hair-well i went to my stylist and she left the color on too long and my hair came out jet black! I was horrified-I felt like Morticia from the Adams family! I was mad so I didnt go back to the stylist who messed it up-so I figured I would just be stuck with it-well I did some searching on the internet and found color oops-i read all the reviews and I purchased it the next day and did the strand test-looked good so I did it and my hair came out great! It is brown again and a very pretty brown-much what I was wanting it to look like when I went to the hairdresser. I think it is the best color I have ever had on my hair actually! The product is easy to use and the smell wasnt as bad as people posted-just be sure to throw it out in an outside trash can when done:) Very pleased with this product-would recommend!

I started with medium brown hair with golden and reddish highlights. I wanted to go dark brown for the winter and used Natural Insticts Medium brown. It was fine at first but as the weeks went by it started to look dull and boring and flat. I just thought it looked sorta cheap. I used Color Oops after about 2 weeks. My hair is totally back to normal, my hightlights and everything. Didn't seem too harsh, my hair feels pretty good. Pretty miraculous.

I dye my hair pretty regularly, but it seems like my hair always fades to a redish brown color. I decided (since the weather was getting cooler) to go for a deeper brown on my WAIST LENGTH hair. Well, it turned Jet Black!!! It was horrifying. I tried the dish soap, head and shoulders, and even laundry detergent tricks to try to fade it - to no avail. I stopped at a hair salon yesterday to ask about corrective color. The stylist looked at me and said "I can probably do something, but it's going to be expensive...at least $200 depending on how much time it takes". $200 for a [$] mistake!! OMG this stuff saved me. I tried to color my light blond hair a medium brown. It turned out a horrid color of dull black at the roots with gray strands. It was awful. Looked like a cheap ugly halloween witches wig. I rushed to the store and bought color oops. It corrected my hair back to its original color. Thank God!!!!

I have colored my hair for years, you name the color, I've done it once. I have had my hair dine both professionally and I have done it myself when funds were tight. Well, my natural color is a light golden brown. I had been dying it a shade or so darker, but I decided I wanted to go for a change and dye it a deep, rich BROWN - - instead, it came out BLACK!!! I was mortified! I had NEVER had this happen and didn't know what to do next! SO, I searched around online for some help. I shampooed over and over again to no avail, and I dried it and thought to myself, "maybe this isn't so bad.... maybe you an make this work!" But NO! It was BAD!!! I was really nervous about trying this product, (the whole "unknown" factor!) but I'm so glad I did. I colored my hair about a month ago, thinking I wanted a shade darker and it ended up looking more gothic than dark and sexy. I lived with it for a while and considered going to my stylist for color correction. But it can be such an expensive process that I did some research on home remedies and found Color Oops. The color I ended up with was a just slightly brassy auburn, but my hair usually does that anyway. My recommendations are to definitely do the strand test and then throw everything out outside when you're done, because it will stink up your bathroom if you leave it in the trash! :) Good luck!

I purchased a total of four boxes of this product and it did not work. I spent [$] for nothing. I needed four boxes because of the thickness for my hair it takes two boxes and one time. When I spoke to the company yesterday they told me to purchase two more boxes because it may take more then once to remove the color. It didn't work. I contacted the company for a refund but I never heard anything back. I tried to go from black to my natural color which is light brown. This product sucks and do not recommend you use it.
