To be effective, sunscreen must be applied liberally to all exposed skin.  This product is intended for "targeted" protection, either in conjunction with another sunscreen (to be used for the full body), or when only small areas of skin are exposed, such as the hands and face. For full protection, apply an ample coat to the face and/or any exposed skin, then rub in to reduce whitening effect. Starts working on application.  For maintained protection, sunscreen reapplication is recommended every 40 minutes or after swimming, sweating, and/or towel drying as needed. Children under 6 months of age, ask a doctor.
