I do not like this meter at all. I had used a One Touch and found it to be very accurate, giving very close values to thise tested by the lab at the doctors. The contour gives readings 30-40 points higher and there is no way to adjust this accuracy.

They tell me all the meters these days are equally accurate. The Bayer Contour lancets are relatively more painless because you need less than half the blood needed by some meters, and I appreciate that since I have found this to be a nifty little meter. It is small and fits in my purse well and fits in my hand well. It uses a lesser amount of blood, .6 and I like that I have results in only 5 seconds since I check myself four times a day or more. Unfortunately I just found that my insurance won't pay for this monitor any more so I have to choose another one which I've narrowed down to a ACCU-CHEK® Aviva since that is one of the two choices now available to me. I left my Bayer Contour meter in the car over a long freezing weekend and received helpful, professional information on the 1-800 number when I called to inquire about possible damage to it (they checked the electronics over the phone, and my meter appeared to be still accurate).

I have this and a OneTouch Ultra Mini (my "backup" meter at work). Overall, I prefer this to the Mini.
The strips can be pricy ($1 each without insurance), but the no coding is nice. Plug in the strip and there you go. It also has a 14 & 7 day average as well as a 500 memory. The best part to me is the data is downloadable (you have to get the cable from Bayer).
The case is fairly compact...but I admit not as compact as the UltraMini. Still...better than any other meter I have seen out there

Not crazy about the Microlet lancets, but i have to use it to know whats going on with my sugar.

Great I have had it since Feb 2007 and it works fine. It is bulky but very accurate and doesn't need a lot of blood. Has an alarm and you can hook it up to your computer for an easy transfer of data.
