This test strip is made by AgaMatrix who also makes the iBGStar meter for Sanfoni. Agamatrix primary makes low cost meters that are sold under different names, usually store names such as Target's Up and Up meter.
The test strips for those meters is exactly the same except the notch is cut deeper making them useless in the iBGStar. I have a friend who is a chemical engineer and he took apart both strips and couldn't find any other difference.
But there is another difference. The cost for AgaMatrix's box of 50 test strips can be purchase on Amazon for $15. Sanfoni being a Pharmaceutical company wants to keep the cost artificially high for these strips.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Jamie L. Average strip, wickedly overpriced
The meter is really great if you have an iPhone 4S or earlier (won't work in an iPhone 5).
Unfortunately, the benefits do not outweigh the fact that this meter and the strips are wildly overpriced. You can get essentially the same function out of a $15 meter with $10 (per 50) strips.
Don't throw your money away.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Sandy U For iPads and pre-5 iPhones
While I was satisfied with my previous Bayer USB Contour meter, when I went from my old MacBook to my new iPad I discovered I had no USB port, so I tried the iBG Star, which fits the docking port on both my iPhone 4 and iPad 3.
During the transition from one to the other, I used both meters to compare readings, which often proved exactly identical.
If you calibrate one strip from each new container, using the supplied test solution, you may find, as I did, that you actually get more accurate results than with your previous meter; apparently, testing the strips calibrates the meter. Incidentally, the iBG Star strips cost half what my Contour strips did.
Two issues: Once you download a reading from the meter to your iDevice, you can't delete that reading or change it, even if it's wrong: "357? Really? Why aren't I dead already?"
Also, Notes (e.g., "Pre-Lunch," "Post-Dinner," etc.), after you input them, aren't saved on your meter, just on the last iDevice you used, so you'll need to re-enter that same info again if you're trying to keep current on more than one iDevice at a time.
However, all in all, easiest/best meter I've ever used.

Rated 5 out of 5 Love This!
I love this system. It's the first time I can instantly see my results in quantity and make instant adjustments to my insulin based on the graphs and logbooks. Strips are expensive, but not a whole lot more than my Freestyle test strips, and so worth the extra money not to have to hand key in all my numbers into my mac. Love it.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by TheLimeyGeek Do they work ?
Not sure if these are working correctly, readings seemed high, so did a few comparison tests with my trusty Contour unit and as I suspected, the were different.
Its not ALL of the tests, but I cannot trust this unit, so may revert back to my Contour until I hear the issues are resolved with either the tester or the strips.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by slap18 over priced, not such a good solution
I bought this and was very disapointed. The accuracy is in issue and the meter plug in is a hassle as I still need to carry test strips and lancing device. The test strips are outragously priced and not covered under my health insurance or Medicare. I like the MyGlucoHealth solution so much more usable as it works with my other phones, pc and my wifi router. Plus strips are much better priced and covered under my insurance.
