Description:
Hemp Seed Hearts are a “super food” with a variety of uses including eating them straight as a snack; sprinkled on other foods, fruits or vegetables; used as a garnish on a wide array of prepared foods or salads; added and mixed into sauces, dips, marinades, yogurts, power drinks or smoothies; or used in baking as an ingredient in breads, muffins or cookies. They can be used as you would any other seed or nut.
Hemp Seed Hearts are a source of high quality, plant based protein. Analysis of hemp food proteins has shown that the protein content in hemp foods is not only present in high amounts, but is also of a very high quality. Hemp protein is also very high in dietary fibre.
Our Hemp Seed Hearts contain one of the highest concentrations of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) categorized as Omega-6 and Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) in an ideal 3:1 ratio. EFAs are vital for good health but cannot be manufactured by our body, and so they must be present in our diet through the foods we eat.
Three tablespoons of Hemp Seed Hearts (30g) provide 770 kJ of energy, 180 calories and 10g of protein. As a source of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids, they provide 9g of Omega-6 and 3g of Omega-3 per 30 grams serving.
Hemp Seed Hearts contain zero trans-fat. They are very high in phosphorus and are a good source of the essential B Vitamins that comprise the Vitamin B complex. They also contain niacin (vitamin B3), an excellent source of thiamine (vitamin B1), and are high in vitamin B6 and folate (vitamin B9).
Hemp Seed Hearts are free from gluten, cholesterol, nuts, sodium and lactose and, being plant-based, they are a food product and ingredient that cater to persons with gluten and lactose intolerance, and various ethnic and religious dietary requirements. Being a source of essential B vitamins, especially vitamin B1 and folate makes them nutritious and wholesome for children and pregnant women.
Our suggestion for an overall good healthy start to your day: three or four tablespoons of hemp seed hearts on top of your favourite cereal, fruit and/or yogurt for breakfast. You will likely feel nutritionally satisfied for several hours. Keep refrigerated after opening..
