This product was recommended by my Gynecologist about six years ago. The instructions were to take one orally and insert one internally at bedtime. The good bacteria counteract the bad in my system so there are less female problems. I feel much better physically.
It is quite expensive, but if you follow sales, it cuts down on the cost. If you are lactose intolerent, this Digestive Health has no milk products.

It did seem to help me with gas and gave me regular solid bowel movements, then after taking two weeks I started to notice some side effects. I'm noticing an occassional cramp on my right side and feeling nausea with slight headaches and feel like I can not get enough rest. Apparently this probiotic is not for me.

Walgreen's was far more expensive than other web site sources, and the product came after almost a week with June expiration codes. If a 90 day supply expires in June - well, you can do the math! I returned it at a store location which was very inconvenient.

Taking culturell daily has been beneficial to my health. My doctor was pleased, when she was informed I was taking it daily.

Both scientific literature and personal experience suggests this product helps t okeep your intestines healthy when you need to take antibiotics. I've found taking capsules once or twice a day will prevent diarrhea and other problems, such as yeast infections, often associated with antibiotics.
For best results, take a capsule each day when you are taking antibiotics. Try to take it between does of antibiotics. For example, if you take antibiotics morning and night, take Culturelle at lunch.
Then be sure to take a capsule or two a day for a month or more after you finish the antibiotics, as well as eating yogurt with live cultures (probiotics) every day.. But the Culturelle is the proven and best way to get the healthy bacteria back to work again. There is a lot of evidence to show that even a single course of antibiotics changes our intestinal bacteria ("flora") for months, and this may have health consequences.
Use Florastor as well for even better results.
I am a college professor and have been a microbiologist for over 30 years.

I bought it for my cat's diarrhea, and ended up using it myself. I can't eat dairy products so I started taking it too. Most probiotics seem to contain dairy products, so it was a great find. This is a product that I plan to use the rest of my life for myself and my cat to keep up our immune system.
