This product was used on me in the hospital and I was very impressed that they would endorse this product so I purchased for my home. I have used it several times and I am thrilled with how easy and accruate this product was. I would highly recommend for parents with kids. Very quick swipe across the head and you have your reading.

Our pediatrician only uses the professional model of this thermometer, so I bought one 9 years ago when my daughter was a baby. I've checked it against the professional version at the doctor's office and found it is as accurate as the user, varying only by a tenth of a degree between scans once you get used to how to scan. You must get it flat across the forehead as any angle will cause it to average in the room temperature. I love that it's fast and easy to clean. I simply wipe it off with an alcohol wipe between kids during flu season. I'm back to buy another one because I left the last one at a hotel. If I could ask for it to be improved, I would like a back light to make it easy to read at night.

This is a great product! I have used it on every member of my family but mostly my nine month old daughter. It scans very quickly and accurate.

Very good thermometer for small kids, since you only need to brush it against the forehead, so it is easy to do and don't have to try and stick it in their ear or mouth.

I have purchased, tried and returned every other temporal or behind-the -ear thermometer available. Left our 1st Exergen at some family's house, and I recently got the Vicks $50 behind-the-ear therm to try it out --- Worthless. Took it back and got the Exergen again, which I should've done in the 1st place b/c I know it works. It is more expensive than a lot of the others, @ $50, but the cheaper $25 or $30 ones are pretty much useless. They are not reliable or accurate; the variance or range in readings from these cheaper ones is quite drastic, 1.5 to 2 degrees difference. Very difficult to get a good reading on the others.
I've found the Exergen is the most accurate, usually all readings within 0.5 degrees. We have an infant, and on multiple occasions I have compared the reading to a rectal temp at the same time, and it has always been within 0.5 degree. The difficulty with an infant or toddler is getting a good reading, with the kid moving and all. But you quickly get the hang of it. To be on the safe side, I generally take 2 or 3 readings to be sure. This is really a must have if you prefer to monitor a fever as closely as I do and are a stickler for accuracy. Obviously, the best method is rectal, but it's not practical trying to take a baby's rectal temp over and over.
Some say these are not accurate on babies their head or temporal artery is not big enough to get a good reading, but like I said, I've compared it to rectal and it's darn close. Hope this helps and saves you some time trying and returning the other crummy thermometers. Even more, I hope it deters some parent from buying a crummy one and mistakenly believing it to be accurate.
