I was told about this product many years ago when I did outside sales. Because I was in and out of my car during the cold months, I kept a tickle in my throat and seemed to always have a "clearing throat" cough. One of my customers told me about Fisherman's friend and it worked almost immediately. I have to admit, I spit it out the first time I tasted it (LOL) but once I got past the taste I was fine. I don't use it on a regular basis because I changed jobs and very rarely get a cold but when I do, I head to Walgreens looking for Fisherman's Friend.

I've used Fishermans Friend for many years. I highly recommend them for anyone who is in need of cough relief. I warn 'you'll ever love this or hate it' and you'll know right away. Some of the reactions have brought me a burst of laughter. I am one who loves the gritty texture and the almost licorice taste. It works for me and lets me sleep at night .
side effects? just relief from cough and cold symptoms .
what can I say I am a true fan, and I'm not alone. There's lots of us that swear by them.

It doesn't work quite as well as it seems when first tried. In other words it's rather tricky to get it to work as hoped. Aside from that, it doesn't seem to work for sore throat. It temporarily clears entirely your whole upper resporatory system, especially your nose, of any stuffyness. It very temporarily completely stops your nose from running. But then, it actually causes your nose to run--similar to Robitussin--much more than it did before you took the tablet. So I donot recommend it for runny nose, despite its temporary effect on that symptom, but at most for stuffy nose symptoms, perhaps. I also don't have any strong feeling that it is any good for coughs, rather than exasperating the problem. But then again, nothing much works for a cough. Finally, one whole tablet is too strong, so I break mine in half, and put yhe other half back in the bag. Although I basically think they basically don't work, they have such an amazing initial effect--a totally refreshing and clean feeling--that I am still experimenting with them on my symptoms from time to time.

These handy lozenges were responsible, in part, to a very good Christmas Cantata. At the rehearsal, women coughed while the men sang and then men coughed while the women sang. Performance? Don't recall any coughing because of the Fisherman's Friend.....and, after all, wasn't He?

These don't taste good, like the candy throat lozenges do, but they are the only thing that really helps a bad cough. Extremely good cough drops.
