I've been using this product for about 10 years. I have never tried another brand and I have no immediate plans to ever do so! My hair is naturally dark brown and this color completely covers my gray and gives me lots of reddish highlights. On average I color my hair about every 8 weeks.

Chosing to go red and searching for the right shade is a tricky thin. Red is super saturated with about every color pigment. Many reds use concentrations of blue, violet, or orange to achieve the formula for a color. The intense colors may have a plum or burgundy tone, or an extreme bright copper. Fine for the daring, but not for the true-red wannabes.
This shade is perfect. Vibrant, rich, and believable. It is striking, but not overwhelming.INot too light or dark. It has 'brown' in the shade name, which means it is a more warm red that gives it balance. Men do love redheads, and this color is a winner. Trust me! Excellence is also a great product.

When the grays started coming in, I tried having my hair colored in a salon but they never got the color I wanted, i.e., a little lighter and a little redder than my natural brown. Then I saw an add for L'Oreal Excellence and loved the color they showed, which was light reddish brown. I used that for years and switched to medium reddish brown for better coverage as my natural color got grayer. Everyone just assumes it's my natural color -- even a dermatologist looking at it close up! And it leaves my hair with a beautiful, healthy shine. One recommendation (from a hair stylist) -- on touch-ups, only touch up the roots. Don't spread it through all of your hair like it says to do in the instructions. (Spreading to the older hair dries it out.)

I've received more compliments from using this product; even from professional hair dressers. It leaves your hair shiny and doesn't dry it out at all. It completely covers my stubborn gray hair and lasts a long time. It's radiant enough that it gets noticed, yet conservative enough to have a natural look, not too shocking. Its absolutely perfect. I really love it.

My daughter likes this so much that she asked me to buy it and send it to her while she's deployed in Iraq. She said it makes her feel better about herself while she's far from home!
