WND 2 is an iron-fortified medical food powder that is free of nonessential amino acids for children and adults with inborn errors of the urea cycle (waste nitrogen disorders). The product provides the essential amino acids as well as carbohydrate, fat, essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. Use under direct and continuing supervision of a doctor.

Fat provides 23% of total calories in WND 2. The fat source is soy oil. Soy oil is a source of the essential omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids: linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid.

Protein equivalents provide 8% of total calories for WND 2. The product provides only the essential amino acids and does not contain nonessential amino acids (see Amino Acids table).

Carbohydrate
Carbohydrate provides 69% of total calories in WND 2. The carbohydrate blend is 57% corn syrup solids, 36% sucrose (table sugar), and 7% modified corn starch. The sucrose in the product helps mask the taste of the amino acids. WND 2 is lactose-free.

Vitamin and mineral levels in WND 2 are generally appropriate for both children and adults.

Metabolic clinician should consult with patients about the correct amounts of water and powder.

Pour desired amount of water into a suitable container. Add powder and mix well. Consume immediately or cover and refrigerate prepared beverage. Use within 48 hours. Shake well before serving.

Throw away prepared unrefrigerated beverage left in cup within 1 hour after consumption begins.

Powder Storage (cans)

Store unopened cans at room temperature. After opening can, keep tightly covered, store in a dry area, and use contents within 1 month. Do not freeze powder or prepared formula. Avoid excessive heat. Use by date on bottom of can.
