If you want to increase your HDL to LDL ratio, taking up to 2,000 mg of niacin under your doctor's supervision can certainly work. This brand of naicin is less expensive than most other brands and the time release has allowed me to work up to 1,000 mg in the morning and evening without flushing. Niacin is certainly lower cost and has potentially far fewer side effects than do any of the statins.

I've tried several brands that abvertise that they are no flush. Natrol is the only one that does what it advertises.
