- Real Idaho potatoes in a creamy cheese sauce
- Add milk and margarine
- Preheat oven to 450°F
- In an ungreased 1-1/2 quart casserole, combine 1-3/4 cups boiling water, 2 tablespoons margarine or butter, 2/3 cup milk, potato sauce mix and potato slices
- Bake uncovered about 20 minutes or until top is light brown and potatoes are tender (bake 5 minutes longer for more golden brown top and softer potatoes)
- Remove from oven (sauce will thicken upon standing)
- In a 2-quart saucepan, combine 1-3/4 cups hot water, 2 tablespoons margarine or butter, 2/3 cup milk, potato sauce mix and potato slices
- Heat over high heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Carefully watch heat to avoid boil over
- Reduce heat; cover and simmer about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are tender and sauce is desired consistency (sauce will thicken as it stands)
