This product works fine for me and my dog. I've seen the mixed reviews and all dogs are different. My dog is scared of the machine and trmbles like leaf from the time I turn it on until the time we're done. She's a smallish dog (beagle) and about 10 minutes and she's good to go for another week. My dog endures it. She's got a very sweet temperment. Other dogs might not endure it.
I'd read the reviews and was surprised at how effective it was for my situation. But before I bought it, I asked if it didn't work could I bring it back and the cashier told me I had 30 days to bring it back with a receipt, So with nothing to lose, I gave it a try.

This thing doesn't work for anything. I find it hard to believe that it would even work on human finger nails! BIG waste of money!

I bought this for my dog (a Jack Russell Terrier) who keeps his nails short in the Summer by digging in the yard but come Winter, they grow to horrible lengths. I thought this would be easy to use and it made sense to me. I turned it on and my dog ran away. I hunted him down and held him in my lap and brought the electronic file to his nail, as soon as it touched the nail, he jerked his paw back and jumped off my lap and ran away again. I tried this on my Dad's dog (a Cairn Terrier) and she did the same thing. I tried it on my sister's dog (a Chihuahua) and the same thing happened. I gave it to my other sister who has three dogs (a Border Collie, a Beagle and a Dachshund) and she said the same thing happened with her and them. I don't recommend this to anyone. Maybe if you got it for free to try, it wouldn't be so bad but I wouldn't waste my money. We ended up just throwing it away which seemed like a huge waste.

May be fine for cats for small dogs, but not very suitable for use on large dogs. Trims a small amount with each use. Large nails wear the sandpaper quickly. Expected more from the product.

I was skeptical after reading some of these comments but for the money it was worth a shot. my dogs nails have been on the loose for way to long now. Just bought it today as a matter of fact. i did what the instructions said, about gettin your dog aquainted with it and its sounds. Every time she touched it with her nose she got a treat. and after not even a few times she was layin on her back and soakin up the pedicure. it does have a foul smell but what do you expect. it isn't all that powerful but then again your not strippin the floor or anything. i filed all four paws in one sitting. tomorrow i will file a little bit more, as her nails were outa control. Take your time, and let your animal learn to love it. P.S. do it outside and your house wont smell like heated nails. :) try filing both ways to see which is better. my dog didn't like the products recommened way.

I bought this because my dog hates having her nails clipped, but it was no good either. It frayed her nails and wasn't easy to use and you couldn't tell where you were on the nail during the trimming. The noise bothered my dog as much as her hearing the clippers and holding her first foot to clip. Save your money and go to a professional at least your dog won't be mad at you!
