Step 1: R1 Cooling Gel with Lactokine
Cools and hydrates the skin to relieve discomfort and irritation, and helps promote healing in irradiated skin.
After skin and tissue have been irradiated, the destroyed cells release oxygen radicals that harm healthy cells and create substances that raise the temperature of the skin and tissue. This results in the onset of skin and tissue damage.
R1 Cooling Gel cools the skin while providing intense hydration. It contains Lactokine, which helps protect skin against inflammation. As you progress through radiation treatment, it will also provide cooling relief for skin discomfort and irritation that may occur.
How It WorksR1 Cooling Gel is a water-based gel designed to quickly draw the heat out of a burn by acting as a heat exchanger. Heat energy is spread over the whole gel surface because the material conforms to the uneven burn surface. At the outer surface of the gel, the heat is released by transfer into the air.
A study on thermal burns that used a cooling gel (without Lactokine) found it effective in decreasing the temperature of the dermis after burning, thereby resulting in a reduction of burn progression.*

Step 2: R2 Soothing Lotion with Lactokine
Protects, nurtures, moisturizes and helps promote healing in irradiated skin. R2 Soothing Lotion also contains sunscreen protection.
Radiaderm R2 Soothing Lotion with Lactokine continues the skincare therapy started with R1 Cooling Gel. The lotion moisturizes, builds the skin's defense and calms inflammation and redness, helping to rejuvenate damaged skin stressed by radiation therapy. The soothing and nurturing benefits of R2 can continue after radiation therapy is complete, as it can be incorporated into daily skincare routines.
Broad-Spectrum Protection for your Skin
R2 Soothing Lotion contains UVB SPF 20 and high UVA filters offering broad-spectrum protection for the skin. If you must be in the sun, your skin should be protected from the harmful rays, especially in the areas where radiation treatment has occurred. UVA is the portion of ultraviolet rays responsible for damage to the DNA of the skin cells, which can lead to the development of skin cancer. R2 Soothing Lotion's active ingredient, Avobenzone, offers excellent UVA protection.
Anti-Inflammatory Activity (Human Skin Study)**
Skin redness was induced by UV exposure to 1.5 MED (minimal erythemal dose of each individual). Lactokine fluid significantly moderated redness compared to an untreated control and thus dramatically reduced the critical inflamed skin status, exhibiting calming and soothing properties.
Reduction in redness - suppressed the inflammatory response within a five-day period.
The duration of inflammation is shortened.

Use immediately after treatment. Apply a generous layer to the affected or treatment area daily. Do not rub into skin. The gel is most effective when applied in a thick layer and allowed to remain in contact with the skin for a minimum of 20 minutes. For the first minute, a slight tingling may occur. Then, it quickly cools and hydrates the skin, relieving discomfort and irritation and soothing redness, inflammation and burns.
