I wanted to write this review to help others find this product. I've been trying to use natural products for a while and recently have had a very itchy scalp so I started using Alba's Coconut Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner. I usually buy it from Target @ $12 for 10 oz. It's better than regular products because it uses natural sources for their cleaning ingredients, but the ingredients are still too harsh.
I guess I should back up and say I am white with very sensitive skin and scalp and fine, curly/frizzy, dry, thin hair. Basically a combination for disaster. Oh, did I mention I have oily, acne prone skin on top of all that! My problem is trying to find a product that is moisturizing without being too oily to break out my scalp. I also need something that will not be too heavy so as to weigh down my fine hair. Not an easy task.
I recently researched natural oils online from some Black hair sites. I loved the idea, but it's hard to find the right products that work for white (caucasian) hair as well. I found a product line that uses all natural ingredients and lots of natural oils. Sounds good, except the price $18/bottle for shampoo/conditioner and only an 8-10 oz bottle.
I thought oh well, I'll give it a try and if it works it's well worth the money. I noticed right away the shampoo worked well, but would take a little more than usual which would make it much more expensive to use long term. The main problem was the moisturizing conditioner would not glide through my hair thus not detangling it, which is a huge problem for curly hair. I tried the conditioner I purchased for my son which was created for dry/flakey scalps and it did glide well, but didn't moisturize so I tried mixing them together. It was a good combination, but again very expensive.
I had also tried their soap which made my face red, so when I faithfully came back to purchase some Shea Moisture soap I thought I would give this a try since it was on sale a little. The size of the bottle is great, because it is very sudsy and only takes a little. I like to slather it on so I used a quarter size, but you could definitely use less with great results. I noticed after using the matching conditioner when I first combed my hair after showering it was very detangled, didn't shed as much and my hair just felt smoother.
The big test came after I let my hair air dry into natural curls, which after using the above mentioned brands would dry and become almost stiff and crunchy. Yuck! My hair was nice an soft, smelled great, my scalp was barely itchy (hoping it gets better after using for a little longer since this was my first use).
To make a long story short, I would VERY highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for soft, great smelling hair!

It's great to find a shampoo that doesn't have the toxic chemicals in it! Wish it came in a larger bottle, but a little does go a long way. I find that I cannot use this everyday as I get a build up on my hair (this is the reason for 4 stars and not 5). About every three days, I alternate with clarifying shampoo. It does give volume and softens the hair. Overall, a great product!

I have been meaning to try the Shea Moisture Organic Raw Shea Butter line for months now, one of friends had actually began using this product line and she swears by it. So I thought its about time I give it a try. This shampoo does what it said it would. My hair is manageable after just one wash. I can actually detangle without using a conditioner, yet my scalp and my hair is left clean of impurities. I love this product and will continue using it. I also use the Masque, Restorative conditioner and the Yucca and Aloe milk and have have already recommended this to friends.

If your hair craves moisture and you want a shampoo that cleans but doesn't rob your hair of it's moisture than this is the shampoo for you! I have been using this shampoo for about a year and can't find anything better that is Organic/All Natural!!

started using Shea Moisture because of sensitive scalp and allergies to parabens/parafins and other harsh chemicals. I have locks and needed natural products to keep them from being brittle. I love this product and use all of them to include the oil. My hair has never been healthier and in the three years I have had my locks, they are oh so soft and halfway down my back. I always recommend this product to anyone who asks about my locks and to all of my friends. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't find these products.

Do not go with any other shampoo and matching conditioner without trying this first! it works the best on dry hair, hair that's been colored and hair that has split dead ends.. I have used this for months and switched to W*N to try it and was highly disappointed :( I will be buying much more of this!!
