This gel works well with wash and go curly styles. I love their regular aloe gel for my buns and braid outs, and this is just as good with curly textures. No crunchy feeling, just soft hold. This product is now part of my spring/summer curly routine. Great price too. I bought 4.

This curl activator is AMAZING! It defines my frizzy curly 3C hair into bouncy curls that pop. I usually stay away from gels because some are sticky, flaky, and you have to rinse it out the following day, but this gel is the complete opposite. It's very moisturizing and truly individualizes my curls. I follow these steps to get bouncy, frizz-free curls... I wash and deep condition my hair. I then part my hair into 10 sections and evenly distribute Smooth 'N Shine Curl Activator throughout each section while blowing one section at a time. THE RESULTS... Bouncy, Moisturized Curls with magnificent body. By blow drying/diffusing my hair I'm able to rock these curls without having to wet or co-wash my hair for approximately 3 days. To maintain this look I wrap my hair at night with 5 bobby pins, and place a scarf over my hair. When I remove the bobby pins the following day my curls just fall down on my shoulders.

This product works excellent on both natural and relaxed hair. I used it when my hair was natural and now that it's relaxed I'm still getting great results. Eco works great on natural hair but since my hair is relaxed it left my hair too crunchy, stiff and stringy looking. I have alot of wavy texture with curly ends so once this product dries it has hold but is still fluffy, shiny and soft. Great for defining curls and scrunching relaxed hair-LOVE IT!

I have 4a Natural African-American/Caribbean hair, and I was a little skeptical about this product because the word "activator" to me implied some type of chemical alteration and after recently completing my 18 month transition to natural hair from a relaxer that's the last thing I wanted to do!!! But I must say this product is fabulous! It smells great and really takes my tight curls to the next level, it brings out a very defined curl pattern. The key is to use it with a styling gel to get both hold and definition, as this product by itself provides very little hold in my opinion. I recommend Eco Styler with Olive Oil Styling Gel for its moisture + hold properties. I chose not to use a leave-in underneath it and my hair feels moisturized and well defined. I experimented with a creamy leave-in conditioner + using this product + styling gel and got icky white hair boogers - not a good look! I'll say that if you choose to use a leave-in, maybe try using a spray rather than a creamy one to prevent any residue. My hair looks and feels great and for less than $3-4 this is a great product I can pick up at most stores which is a win win for a product junkie like myself:) P.S. A lot of ppl via blogs and youtube have given the new formula a bad rap (the one with the picture of the aloe vera plant on it), my review is based on the new formula and it worked great in my opinion as I didn't have an opportunity to try the original one.

I am a mix between African American and Spanish so my hair is very thick and curly. Compared to the product I used before which was greasy and sticky this is a dream. Smells great, light weight, makes my hair look shiny and glossy without the goo. I love it!!! People can now pass their fingers through my hair with out getting slime on their hands. I just love it!!!

I wet my natural hair in the morning and apply this gel. I dries quickly but does not dry hair out. At first I was skeptical about trying a curl activator for my natural hair thinking it may look a wet jherri curl. But it did not. It defined my curls and and kept them moistorized all day long. This is a all in one product. I love it.
