I've been using this hair dye for a while now and I am hooked. It works good and even comes with the bleaching kit if you want to bleach before coloring. I think most people that have problems with this dye don't follow the directions. If you are bleaching it is a lot more work. First you have to wash your hair, then completely dry it, then bleach, then wash and completely dry again before coloring. If you forget to shampoo and dry your hair between each step, the color will wash out. If you follow the directions, however, it works great and you get nice bright color. I leave the color portion in my hair for about 1 hour and I have pretty purple hair for nearly 4 months. I've even used just the color on my dark brown hair and it makes a fun highlighted area instead of a bold bright color.

Rated 3 out of 5 by asianpersuasion Works! Definitely need to use a better bleach kit
I'm Asian. I have dark Asian hair. Splat works. Kinda. It came out more of a purplish auburn? I'm positive it would've worked if I had used a better bleach kit and not the one that came with it. The bleach kit only turned my hair to an almost normal light brown.
I'm trying it again, but with a better bleach kit next week. Have to let the hair breathe!

Rated 4 out of 5 by heather I Love the color!! its overly cute! but the only thing i hated was it faded so easily ): i didnt even wash my hair as much as i usually do and it faded in two weeks. I Loved The Bright Barney Purple!!! It Was So Cute And It Went great With The Black in My Hair.. Only Thing Bad About It Was How Fast It Came Out. And I Leave it in for an hour or ore just because it helps the color soak in more and using tinfoil helps a lot.

I dyed a big chunk of my hair purple, and I love it, I had originally only planned on doing it once then letting it fade but I love it so much and got so many compliments I've kept it for about 6 months now.
If you don't have much experience dyeing your own hair then GET SOMEONE TO HELP it can get very messy very easily. Make sure you put vaseline or something around your hairline and ears so you don't stain them, and I wouldn't bother with the gloves that come in the box, they're hopeless, I got a box of latex-free gloves from the drug store and they work much better.
Be warned, it WILL DRIP but I used make up remover wipes on my bathroom counter and floor and it cleaned everything up.
The purple does fade to a nice pink-ish after about 3 weeks, but it still looks great.
In the instructions it says to leave the dye in your hair for about 30 minutes for a longer-lasting color, but I generally leave it on at least 45. You will want to use a little more conditioner than usual, cos it will dry your hair out a bit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Lovergurl77983 Its good for 1st timers.
I've dyed my hair with many dye brands before & last summer i thought i'd give this hair color a shot after my previous dye job didn't work. Here's my results.
Color: Great color purple but it fades quickly into a pretty pink color after 6/8 or so washes.
Stains: Of course all dye products will stain, mostly reds but purple doesn't stain too bad.
Price: A little high for the quality of the dye.
Remember to always wash semi permanent hair with cold to luke warm water, don't wash hair everyday & use color protector shampoo's & conditioners. :)

I was such a skeptic. I was SOOSOSOSOS afraid that the bleach would ruin my light brown hair. It did not at ALL! and it bleached the color out of my hair well. As for the dye. After I rinsed it out it looked great, but after my first shower it looks more like a faded pink. I suggest keeping the dye in for AT LEASSTT, 45 min so it has time to set.
