Earl Grey, Scented Black Tea
A more aromatic version of the Earl's traditional black tea scented with the essence of bergamot.
Tazo Earl Grey is blended with some of the world's most sought after teas from the high elevation gardens of Nuwara Eliya, Uva and Dimbula in Sri Lanka and Assam in Northeast India. These rich, bright and brisk teas are scented with only pure essence of bergamot, a citrus fruit with subtle lemon and spicy lavender notes harvested during early winter in Southern Italy. If it tastes like Tazo Early Grey is from another place and time, that's because it is.
Tazo\ta' -zo\n.[It, tazisto modif of Ba, tazor](ca 4786 B.C.) 9: a salutation or greeting used by Druids and many fifth century residents of Easter Island, usually accompanied by a wave of the hand.
At various times throughout history, Tazo has surfaced among the more advanced cultures of the day as an inspirational addition to the routines of daily life. Some tealogists now believe that Tazo was valued even more than money by many civilizations and may have actually been used as currency by the earliest explorers.
How to Make a Great Cup of Tea
Earl Grey Scented Black Tea can be prepared as a hot or iced tea.
For each fragrant cup of hot tea, use one bag. Bring freshly drawn cold filtered water to a boil and pour into cup over filterbag. Allow to steep for five minutes. Gently squeeze bag and remove.
As an iced tea, Earl Grey is a pleasant departure from traditional iced tea. To prepare, place two bags in an eight ounce container and steep as above. Remove bags and pour hot tea into a tall glass filled with ice.
