This is a wonderful, useful gadget. I originally got it for my kids to use with their crafting projects but now I am thinking I will need to buy my own. It is that cool. Ironically, I got a box of holiday gifts in the mail that I need to wrap and I am so excited to break this out and use it for that purpose. The nicest part is how easy it cuts- it glides right over the paper and cuts just what is sent through the glider tab underneath (I even used it on top of my wooden table and no scratches/marks at all). Best feature, in my opinion, is the ability to cut a pretty straight line using the measuring guide in front of the mouse or running it along a ruler. Really cool tool.

Is it wrong for me to say that I'm in love with some scissors? Seriously, the Scissor Mouse is not your mama's pair of scissors. Instead, it looks like a computer mouse but it cuts paper. All you do is place what you want to cut on a flat surface and make sure that the paper goes in between the mouse and the paper glide, which also protects the cutting blade from being exposed. Once the paper is in place, press down and roll the scissor forward using the same hand movement you would for a computer mouse.
What you end up getting are long, clean cut lines.
This is perfect for gift wrapping and when you are using large sheets of paper. It eliminates all those pesky chippy cuts I always got when I used conventional scissors.
The Scissor Mouse can also make large wavy cuts which made it very popular with my daughter who had to do some school projects. She was able to make her "ocean waves" all by herself. Our Scissor Mouse came in a bright zebra design making it a fun and safe addition to my daughter's school supplies and easy to keep track of in the house.
You can be sure I won't be doing any more gift wrapping without having these scissors nearby.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by MsFandango Does a Good Job with Long Cuts
The Scissor Mouse works beautifully for straight or slightly curved cuts across the full width of a piece of paper. I will probably use it most for cutting wrapping paper. Note: there is a funny red do-hicky on the bottom of the scissor mouse that looks like it should be peeled off before using it. Don't peel it off! It is the paper guide and is necessary for your mouse to work properly.
I found that the Scissor Mouse easily cut through 2 sheets of regular printer paper and through thicker paper as well. The package also claims the Scissor Mouse won't harm surfaces. There was no sign of damage on any of the surfaces I tried cutting on, which is nice insurance if I forget myself and use it on my antique dining room table.
The mouse works best if you start it a little ways back from the edge of your paper on a hard flat surface. The mouse is not designed to cut shapes from the middle of a page, and tends to get hung up if you don't cut all the way to the far edge (like if you were trying to cut fringes in your paper to make a hula skirt or something). As for the curves promised by the ads, it works well on long, gentle curves that go all the way across the sheet. This tool is not appropriate for cutting out small curved shapes, but they never claim that it is.
I especially like the handy see-through ruled guide that helps you cut a straight line. It is also easy to use with a straight edge, but keep in mind that the width of the tool means you can't cut directly against the straight edge. The best feature is that the blade is completely retracted, making it safe for kids and clumsy people such as myself. You can also throw it in a bag and not worry about cutting your hand when you reach in to pull it out (I did that once with and X-acto blade- OUCH!).
All in all, a somewhat limited application in the arts and crafts room, but does an excellent job of what it says it does. I think it is worth owning just for cutting gift wrap. I hate using regular scissors for the job- I can never get it straight.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by CrafterwithKids Great idea
This is a very neat idea. It's perfect for cutting out different layouts and shapes. Just put it on a flat table and go.
It's very nice for folks that aren't great with scissors.

Got this for my son who lost his scissor privileges because he cut too many non-paper products. Seemed perfect- easy to use, fun looking and could make curved cuts. This broke after 1 use. Now the paper bunches up after 1/2 the page. No curves happening. In the end, good idea but a piece of junk.
