The Simple Science of the Fertility Scope™ Ovulation Predictor

Fertility Scope™ is an optical devise which allows a woman to predict the ovulation phase of her cycle in order to know the days of the month during which she is most likely to conceive. It consists of a small cylindrical container about the size of a lipstick tube, an auto-focus eyepiece and a small slide where the saliva sample is placed and illuminated with an LED (light emitting diode) when a button is pressed.

How does Fertility Scope™ work?
Fertility Scope™ uses a woman's saliva to pinpoint her periods of fertility and infertility by employing a technique similar to staining done in laboratories. It operates on the principle that saliva forms a "ferning" pattern when dried resulting from the biochemical and hormonal changes (estrogen) taking place in the body during her fertile days. These delicate "fern-like" shapes, which look like frost on a windowpane, are readily identified when observed through the Fertility Scope™ personal fertility microscope. Women who wish to conceive can track the patterns of the crystals in order to choose the optimal days for intercourse.

There are no products available that can guarantee success in achieving pregnancy. Fertility Scope™ has been designed to assist in conception, and is not intended for contraception.

It is necessary that you test first thing in the morning before rinsing your mouth with water or brushing your teeth and never after eating, drinking or smoking. These activities will interfere with a true reading of your saliva hormonal level and will compromise the accuracy of the results.

Fertility Scope™ will determine in minutes if you can become pregnant on any given day. Simply:

• Place a drop of saliva (upon awakening) on the Fertility Scope™ by toughing the slide with your tongue.
• Wait for saliva to completely dry
• View the results through the ocular lens.

Interpreting the results:

1. Infertile ~ You will see a random pattern of spots and lines indicating no ovulation.
2. Possible Not Likely ~ Small patterns like the leaves of ferns begin to appear. Ovulation will probably occur in 3-4 days; conception is not likely
3. Fertile ~ Fern leaf patterns are not dominant throughout the specimen. Ovulation is probably in progress and conception is highly likely. Fertility lasts from 3 days before to 1 day before ovulation.
