This is a antihistamine, not a decongestant so it's not fair to compare it to Claritin D as that has an additional decongestant ingredient (pseudoephedrine) and that is why you can no longer buy it off the shelf but have to get entered into a database and have the pharmacist sell it to you. No prescription needed, but it is sort of regulated by tracking who purchases it. So far I have not been able to tell any difference between this product and Loratidine (Claritin)

This medication works for some time but overall is not affective. I bought a box and unfortunately I used whole box but am on my way out to buy some Claritin D. The pharmacist recmmended this and said it does the same thing but it doesn't. I saved money at the moment but overall am losing more than I initially paid.

Does not cause drowsiness, like so many other antihistamine medications.
