What is Cosamin DS?
Cosamin DSŪ is a
dietary supplement that contains a combination of glucosamine,
chondroitin and manganese. Glucosamine and chondroitin are compounds similar to those found in
the joints of healthy people. Some people believe that they may work together to reduce the
pain and stiffness of osteoarthritis.
Cosamin DSŪ side effects
Cosamin DSŪ is
generally well tolerated with few side effects. In studies, some people reported intestinal
gas, tiredness, itching, and heartburn. In theory, glucosamine may
lead to increased blood sugar in people with diabetes by reducing the production of insulin in
the body or making the body less sensitive to insulin. Check with your doctor before using
glucosamine products if you have diabetes. Since glucosamine is derived from the shellfish,
people with shellfish allergies should use Cosamin DSŪ cautiously, and only under the
supervision of their doctor.
