Q: What is Balance Rewards for healthy choicesTM?

A: It is one of the many benefits of Balance Rewards that gives you points for staying well whether you track walking, running, cycling, weight management, blood pressure, blood glucose, pulse oxygen or even sleep. Earn 20 points for each mile, 20 points when you add a weigh-in, and 20 points for blood pressure or blood glucose readings at Walgreens.com/healthychoices (subject to daily and monthly limits). You can log your personal wellness goals, track progress, earn badges and connect with the Balance Rewards community to stay motivated. You can also sync with leading fitness and health devices & apps to track activity and earn points automatically!

Q: How do I connect my Balance Rewards membership to earn points with Balance Rewards for healthy choicesTM?

A: If you've already attached your Balance Rewards membership to your Walgreens.com account and want to start earning points for healthy choices:

1. Visit Walgreens.com/healthychoices and click the Register Now button at the top right side of the page.

2. Enter your username and password and click Sign In.

3. Choose a screen name that will display for your community activity.

4. Select the checkbox at the bottom to receive email notifications. These notifications include alerts like friend requests in the community, badge notifications, articles and replies in a forum, etc. Uncheck it if you would prefer not to receive notifications. You can always change this in your profile settings later.

5. Click Submit. You'll see a confirmation message that you are now signed up.

Q: Can I set up my health or fitness device/app using Balance Rewards for healthy choicesTM?

A: No. You'll first need to activate your device or app by following its included instructions for use, including the set-up on the manufacturer website, if applicable. Then you're ready to link it to Balance Rewards for healthy choicesTM and start automatically logging activity and earning points. (If you don't have an account yet, it's easy to register.)

Earning Points 

Q: How do I earn points for Balance Rewards for healthy choicesTM?

A: Simply log your walk, run, bike ride, weigh-in, blood pressure/glucose reading or other healthy activity, and you will earn Balance Rewards points. Your healthy activity can also be sent automatically if you sync select health and fitness devices & apps.

Q: How many points can I earn for each activity?

A: You earn 20 points for each mile you walk, run or cycle; 20 points per logged weigh-in; 20 points per logged blood glucose or blood pressure reading; and 20 points for logging other healthy activities (like yoga or swimming). You can also earn 250 points for setting your first goal and 250 points for syncing a compatible fitness or health device/app.

Q: Is there a maximum amount of points?

A: You can earn a maximum combined 1,000 points per month for weigh-ins and logging walks, runs, cycling and other Fitness activities; a maximum of 20 points per day for walks, runs, cycling, other Fitness activities, weigh-ins and blood pressure entries; and a maximum of 40 points a day for blood glucose entries. You can link up to two devices per month for a maximum of 500 points.

Q: How will I know that I have reached the monthly maximum of points?

A: You will see a message in your Dashboard congratulating you on reaching the monthly maximum. This message will go away on the 1st day of the next month when you are eligible to earn points again.

A: Absolutely!  You can continue to log your activities and track your progress towards goals you have set even after you have reached the monthly maximum.

Q: How many steps equal a mile in Balance Rewards for healthy choicesTM?

A: We use the standard conversion rate of 2,000 steps per mile.

Q: Why are walk, run and cycling point rewards based on miles instead of steps?

A: While 2,000 steps per mile is an accepted general rule of thumb, a number of 3rd-party devices and applications use different steps-to-mile conversion rates, with some allowing individual personalization. Rather than attempt to support variable conversion rates, we have decided to reward for miles logged. Community members are welcome to continue logging activities in steps; we will apply the 2,000-steps-per-mile conversion when determining points to be awarded.

Q: Can I earn points for things other than walking or running?

A: You can earn points for cycling, weigh-ins, blood pressure/glucose readings, and logging other healthy activities. You will earn points for setting your first goal and syncing a compatible fitness or health device/app. You can also earn points for setting your first goal and syncing a fitness device to your membership. Please see this Balance Rewards chart for a full list of ways to earn points.

Q: When will my points be added to my account?

A: In most cases, points earned by logging activities directly into Balance Rewards for healthy choicesTM (or via the Walgreens mobile app) will be added to your account immediately, but it may take up to 48 hours for points to be reflected in your account.

NOTE: Balance Rewards points for activities logged via third party devices/apps are processed and awarded nightly and will show up in your Balance Rewards account within 24 - 48 hours of syncing your device/app.

Q: When will I see the activity I logged using my fitness or health device/app in my account?

A: Third-party device and app vendors push activity information to Steps with Balance Rewards periodically, throughout the day. These activities will typically be reflected in Graph and List views within an hour of syncing your device/app.

Q: Will I be able to see my points history for healthy choices within my Balance Rewards account?

A: Yes, Balance Rewards members will see one line item for each activity that resulted in earning points for healthy choices in the Balance Rewards Activity Summary.

NOTE: You will only see activities in the Balance Rewards for healthy choicesTM history that occurred in the past 180 days that resulted in points being earned. Thus, if you have already reached the monthly maximum for walk or run miles, you will see newly logged activities in your Steps Activity Log but not in the Balance Rewards account history.

Q: Why is my points total for healthy choices different from my total Balance Rewards points available?

A: The points you may have earned from other Walgreens transactions, such as by filling prescriptions or making in-store or online purchases, are not included in your healthy choices points summary. Total available points reflected in your Balance Rewards account include both points earned for healthy choices and other transactions.

Setting Goals and Logging Activities 

Q: How do I view my Balance Rewards for healthy choicesTM activity?

A: Sign in at Walgreens.com/healthychoices, and select the activity icon that matches your healthy activity (Fitness, Weight, Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose, Sleep or Pulse Oxygen).

Q: How do I log an activity myself?

A. Log in to Walgreens.com/healthychoices to view activity panels, then follow the steps below:

1. Select the icon of the activity you wish to log (Fitness, Weight, Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose, Sleep or Pulse Oxygen), then click the Add button in the upper right.

2. Using the calendar, check that the date of your activity is correct.

3. Select from the drop down, if applicable, and then enter in details from your walk, run, bike ride, weigh-in, sleep, or blood pressure/blood glucose/pulse O2 reading. You will need to complete all fields not marked optional.

For Fitness, you also have the option to plot your run, walk or bike ride on a map and we'll calculate the distance for you.

4. For Fitness and Weight, click More Options to enter additional information about your activity, including intensity, body measurements, emotion/mood, a photo, or any notes you have about your activity.

5. Click Save to submit your activity and enter it in the Graph/List Views.

NOTE: You have up to 7 days to log your activity, so don't worry if you forget to log it on the same day. After 7 days, however, you'll no longer be able to log an activity.

Q: How do I set a goal?

A: Log in to Walgreens.com/healthychoices and follow the steps below:

1. On the Fitness or Weight panel, click the Add button in the lower right under "Your Goals."

2. Fitness: choose a Walk, Run, or Frequency goal. Then enter in the required fields, including your goal start date. (Click "No end date" if you do not wish to set an expiration date for your goal.)

Weight: enter in the required fields, including your goal start date. (Click No end date if you do not wish to set an expiration date for your goal.)

NOTE: "Name Your Goal" auto-populates with the information you have already entered, but you can create a goal name here.

3. Click Save to submit and save your goal. To edit/delete, simply click on the goal in Your Goals, then modify the field(s) or select the Delete Goal link to remove it.

Q: How many goals can I have active at any time?

A: You can have one active goal (i.e. Walk, Run, Frequency, Weight) of each goal type at any one time.

A: In "Your Goals" on the Fitness or Weight panels, you will see the percent completed for each active goal. Click anywhere on the goal itself to display more details; you can modify or delete your goal from here.

A: Click anywhere on the goal itself in Your Goals to display more details. From here you can modify the goal and save changes, or select the Delete Goal link to remove it.

A: Sign in to Walgreens.com/healthychoices, select the Events link in the left navigation. The ZIP code you have selected will appear on default. To change your search, enter a ZIP code or city & state in the search form.
