Mobility Aids and Devices

Caregiver Support Health Resources

Choosing a walking device for your care recipient can be very confusing. Start by considering limits in the person's balance, strength, flexibility and sensation. It's also a good idea to include your care recipient in the decision if possible.

A doctor, therapist or equipment specialist who examines the individual's current functional mobility can help you choose the right size to prevent falls -- a leading cause of injury in older persons.
