Overview
Prevacid®24HR is now approved for the over-the-counter treatment of frequent heartburn. It is
the first and only over-the-counter (OTC) PPI in its original formulation.

How Prevacid®24HR treats your frequent heartburn
Prevacid®24HR works differently from other OTC heartburn products. It's in a different class of
medicines called Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs). Prevacid®24HR works by stopping the release of
most acid into the stomach.
What you can expect when taking Prevacid®24HR
Although some people get complete relief of symptoms within 24 hours, it may take one to four
days for full effect. Make sure you take Prevacid®24HR every day for 14 days to treat your
frequent heartburn.
