Unaware of the dangers associated with Levaquin and Cipro I had a toxic reaction to those antibiotics in the floroquinolones group.
Omitting the awful short term effects, Long term it left me with Peripheral neuropathy and horrible pain. The Pain grew less after 8 months or so, Thank God, bc for some it's permanent! (I only took these meds for a week, until my tendons flamed up. Even in my eyeballs - it was awful. That's how I ended up stopping) Anyway, the Pins and needles and pain & numbness in my limbs and body persisted. I read more about the toxicity of these antibiotics and some people had luck with taking a B Complex, or magnesium to help. I started these vitamins and in a short time, to my relief, I got better! A few times I have run out of these B Complex, but figured the toxic "side effects" of the ABX may have subsided.... in two days with out the B Vitamins, it all comes back. It's been 2 years, so it's likely the damage to my nervous system is permanent. And I'm one of the lucky ones. :(
I was so angry about having taken such dangerous medicine without being warned about their dangers. But after taking the B Complex, I am just so happy there is something that can help me to not suffer the permanent effects I was left with from those awful drugs. As long as I take the Vitamins, it helps keep my nervous system working. So grateful!!!
