I have 3c hair, so semi-course/semi-silky and very curly. A lot of the products they make are a bit heavy for me, but I do use this and the matching shampoo once month. I use the shampoo as a once a month clarifier to get out all the product and other brand shampoo build-ups (like all the silicones) and then use this for what its for. To me it smells like bananas and wood. Its a great in shower detangler and leaves my hair really soft and clean.

I use this as a prepoo and detangler prior to washing and it works great, I would recommend to any type 4 naturalista!

When I say I love this product! I love this product. I pretty much love all Shea Moisture products. But this purification mask and the curl enhancing smoothie are staples and favorites. This purification mask detangles my hair on contact. I had no idea it would even do that! I learned about it via YouTube and I don't believe any one of them mentioned detangling properties. I use this solely as a pre-poo treatment. I wet my hair with warm water via a spray bottle and my warmed Vatika Coconut Oil and slather on this mask! My hair loves it...

Best detangling/conditioning agent I've found other than V05. Use to pre- condition before shampoo or as dc after shampoo. Try to buy whenever on sale at Walgreens or Target.

This is a must in any kinky/curly/tightly-coiled woman's hair regimen. I absolutely adore this product. I left a review once before and gave it a poor review because I did not use it on damp hair. I recently tried it again and used it after washing my hair on damp hair and my hair detangled easily, and it left my hair feeling so silky and soft to the touch.
I've tried Wen's sweet almond mint Clarifying Conditioner by Chaz Dean, and while it's nice, the Purification Masque works 3x better for a fraction of the price. I'm a huge fan of the Shea Moisture brand.The best part about their products is that the ingredients are so wholesome.The only thing Shea Moisture could have done better is make a bigger container of this stuff! Definitely a staple product :)

Well, firstly I want to say that the product has a very strong odor. I kid you not, it smells like a factory. I asked others for confirmation and they agreed. If you have ever been in a factory with a lot of machinery or been near a business that has just been painted you will kind of understand the jarring smell this product has.
More to the point, I used it as a rinse-out deep conditioner (30 minutes). My hair feels much better than usual. It is natural (unrelaxed) african american hair and usually feels hard after I wash and style my hair, but it feels noticeably softer. I will keep using this product as a deep conditioner because Shea Moisture is all natural and that's what matters most for my hair.
