I have used other thumb-sucking "paints" before that worked wonderfully. This one is worthless. Has zero taste or flavor OR EFFECT. A complete waste of money.

Cons: Doesn't Work, Expensive

Same as other reviewer. I painted my daughter's nail and 10 minutes later her thumb was in her mouth. Tried again and put a double, heavy coat on it and immediately she was sucking her thumb.

bought this at walgreens yesterday (9-5-11), after the first application my daughter's thumb was right back into her mouth. Just applied it again, two apps at the same time, and her thumb is in her mouth as i type!

I used this on my nipples to wean my oldest child after ONE taste, but I painted over my milk ducts, which was a BAD idea--the excess milk needs to be able to leak or be expressed. I am using again on my nipples (avoiding the milk ducts) and the taste discourages her (It's hot, it's burning) during the day, but when she wakes in the middle of the night, it doesn't seem to bother her much, and I think the milk dilutes it.

Pros: Cheap, Easy To Apply

Cons: Doesn't last very long, taste/spiciness is rather mild

I've been a 'biter' since I grew teeth. Like an alcoholic, I will always be a 'biter'. While this stuff is not a deterrent in and of itself (my breakfast is more spicy than this stuff), the taste and the spice helps me refocus when I unconsciously bring my fingers to my mouth. Also, the act of putting this stuff on two or three times a day help to psychologically reinforce my commitment to growing my nails.

It's not a silver bullet, but it definitely helps if you are serious about kicking the habit.

my daughter is about 21 months old and she has been sucking her thumb since she was baby...
my hubby saw this product at Walgreens and we would like to give it a try. At the first time, our daughter rubbed it into her eyes and she cried...but may be we applied a lot on the thumb. Anyhow, we stopped in a while and tried it 2nd time. We applied a little on her thumb this time and she didn't suck her thumb anymore! this stuff works but you gotta make sure you don't apply a lot and make sure don't rub it into eyes.
