The National Urban League and Walgreens, collaborating for the third year, have launched a national mobile health screening tour with the goal of promoting better health in urban communities across the country. The National Urban League and Walgreens Wellness Tour, which features a mobile health screening and education vehicle, will provide free access to health screenings in urban communities across the country through February 2010. The mobile health screening vehicle is dedicated to expanding access to quality and affordable health services. Through the Wellness Tour, the National Urban League and Walgreens will provide adults convenient, free access to six health screenings, which are collectively valued at $140*. The health screenings provide adults with a critical foundation for early disease detection and prevention. Screenings available include: · Total Cholesterol Levels · Blood Pressure · Bone Density · Glucose Levels · Waist Circumference · Body Mass Index
Visitors to the tour will also have access to free educational information on a variety of health and wellness issues. The National Urban League and Walgreens Wellness Tour is one of two national health screening campaigns created by Walgreens. A separate tour, the AARP/ Walgreens Wellness Tour , is also crossing the country, providing free health screenings and services.
