Guichard Gallery
During this year's Black History Month in February, Walgreens stores featured an African- American-produced shopping bag. The unique, art-inspired bag was created by Andre Guichard of Guichard Gallery in Chicago and was launched and sold at select stores through Walgreens Community Corner program. The initiative helps promote and support women-, minority-, and locally-owned suppliers.
As part of the launch, Walgreens donated $10,000 to the Alzheimer's Association to help continue the group's focus on research, services and support. According to the Alzheimer's Association, African-Americans are twice as likely to have Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia -- but less likely to be diagnosed than other ethnicities.
