How do I take Sectral?
You should take Sectral® (acebutolol) with water, and you can take it with or without food. The medication is usually taken either once or twice a day. Follow the dosing directions on your prescription and try to take your dose of Sectral® on a regular schedule.
What happens if I miss a dose of Sectral?
If you forget to take a dose of Sectral® (acebutolol) and quickly realize that you have forgotten, take the missed dose of Sectral®. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, take only the next dose. Do not take two doses of Sectral® at once.
How does Sectral interact with other medications or foods?
Before you take Sectral® (acebutolol), tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to acebutolol or any other drugs.
Food has no significant impact on how Sectral® (acebutolol) affects you.
Many drugs may interact with Sectral® (acebutolol), and the effects vary widely. To avoid side effects and drug interactions, make sure that your doctor has thoroughly evaluated your health before you begin taking Sectral®. Tell your doctor about all of the prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, recreational drugs and herbal supplements you are taking before you begin treatment with Sectral®. While you're taking Sectral®, be sure to tell your doctor if you intend to start taking a new medicine.
Tell your doctor if you wish to stop taking Sectral® (acebutolol). Your doctor can tell you how to safely withdraw from the drug. Withdrawing from Sectral® improperly may cause heart problems in some people.
