Medicare
What is it?
Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people who are 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with end-stage renal disease.
The different parts of Medicare cover specific services:
Part A Hospital insurance
Part B Medical insurance
Part D Prescription drug coverage
Who is this for?
If you are already 65+ or approaching 65, transitioning to Medicare may be the right approach for you. Note that Traditional Medicare (Parts A & B) does not cover prescription drugs. If you want prescription drug coverage, you will need to additionally enroll in a standalone prescription drug plan (PDP) or Medicare Advantage (MA) plan, which includes Parts A, B and D.
How do I enroll?
We’ve teamed up with partners that can help make Medicare enrollment easier. Compare Medicare Part D prescription drug plans to find copays as low as $0 when Walgreens is your Preferred Pharmacy.*
Other consideration
If you did not enroll in Medicare upon turning 65, you may be subject to a penalty payment.
Some Medicare Part D plans have "preferred" pharmacies. Filling at your plan's preferred pharmacy can reduce your copays. Get started to learn more about plans where Walgreens is preferred.
