Find Medicare coverage near
Don't miss the 2026 Medicare Open Enrollment Period, Oct. 15 - Dec. 7, 2025!

1. Explore your Medicare options
Determine whether your current plan is meeting your health needs or if you want to shop for another plan. You can find
a plan during the upcoming Open Enrollment Period (OEP)
Oct. 15 – Dec. 7.
First time enrolling in Medicare? Enroll in a plan three
months before or after your 65th birthday to avoid a
penalty. If you’re under age 65, you may be eligible for
Medicare if you’ve received Social Security/Railroad
Retirement Board disability benefits for 24+ months or have
been diagnosed with end-stage renal disease or
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as ALS or Lou
Gehrig’s Disease).
Changes in employment coverage? If you’re 65+, enroll in
a plan up to eight months after your employer coverage
ends to avoid a penalty.
2. Research Medicare coverage options
Research Medicare to figure out what coverage type is right for you:
Medicare Part A:Opens a simulated dialog Hospital inpatient coverage
Medicare Part B:Opens a simulated dialog Medical coverage
Medicare Part C: Opens a simulated dialog Medicare Advantage offers alternatives to original Medicare (Parts A, B and often includes D)
Medicare Part D: Opens a simulated dialog Prescription coverage
Plan benefits can change annually, so it is important to evaluate prescription drug coverage, premiums,
deductibles, copays, and pharmacy benefits to ensure your plan is right for you every year.

Decide on a plan during the Open Enrollment Period (OEP) from Oct. 15 – Dec. 7 each year. You can re-enroll in your current plan or switch plans. Your coverage will begin on Jan. 1 if you sign up during OEP.
First-time eligibility for Medicare? Enroll in a plan any time of the year, starting 3 months before your 65th birthday and ending 3 months after your 65th birthday (to avoid a penalty). If you're under age 65, you may be eligible for Medicare if you have a qualifying disability or health condition, such as end-stage renal disease or Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS).

Medicare Part A
Medicare Part A helps cover your inpatient care in hospitals, critical access hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities (not custodial or long-term care). It also helps cover hospice care and some home health care. You must meet certain conditions to get these benefits.
Most people don't have to pay a monthly payment, called a premium, for Part A. This is because they or a spouse paid Medicare taxes while they were working. If you (or your spouse) didn't pay Medicare taxes while you worked and you are age 65 or older, you may be able to buy Part A.
Medicare Part B
Medicare Part B helps cover medical services like doctors' services, outpatient care, and other medical services that Part A doesn't cover. Part B is optional, and helps pay for covered medical services and items when they are medically necessary. Part B also covers some preventive services like exams, lab tests, and screening shots to help prevent, find, or manage a medical problem.
If you have Part B, you pay a Part B premium each month. Most people will pay the standard premium amount. Social Security will contact some people who have to pay more depending on their income. If you don't sign up for Part B when you are first eligible, you may have to pay a late enrollment penalty.
Medicare Part C
A Medicare Advantage Plan (like an HMO or PPO) is another Medicare health plan choice you may have as part of Medicare. Medicare Advantage Plans, sometimes called “Part C” or “MA Plans,” are offered by private companies that contract with Medicare.
If you join a Medicare Advantage Plan, the plan will provide all of your Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) coverage. Medicare Advantage Plans may offer extra coverage, such as vision, hearing, dental, and/or health and wellness programs. Most include Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D).
Medicare Part D
Medicare Part D is prescription drug coverage. Medicare prescription drug coverage is optional and is offered to everyone with Medicare.
If you decide not to get it when you’re first eligible and you don’t have other creditable prescription drug coverage (like prescription drug coverage from an employer or union) or get Extra Help, you’ll likely pay a late enrollment penalty if you join a plan later. Generally, you’ll pay this penalty as long as you have Medicare prescription drug coverage.
To get Medicare prescription drug coverage, you must join a Medicare-approved plan that offers prescription drug coverage. Each plan can vary in cost and specific prescription drugs covered.
