Your GLP-1 Destination
Whether you're exploring GLP-1s, starting treatment, or looking for ongoing support, Walgreens offers convenient options every step of the way.
What are GLP-1 weight loss medications?
GLP-1 medications work by mimicking a naturally occurring hormone that helps regulate appetite, digestion, and blood sugar. By helping you feel fuller for longer and reducing hunger, they can support weight loss when used alongside healthy eating and regular physical activity.
As with any prescription medication, GLP-1 treatments have potential risks and side effects. Your healthcare provider can help you understand your options.
How do I get a GLP-1 prescription?
Step 1
Confirm eligibility
Your provider will determine if a GLP-1 medication is clinically appropriate and prescribe treatment.
Step 2
Explore payment options
Find out whether your insurance can cover treatment costs. If not, you can also pay out of pocket or use a manufacturer coupon.
Step 3
Fill your prescription
If prescribed and eligible, fill your GLP-1 medication at Walgreens or the pharmacy of your choice.

FAQs
- How do I know which GLP-1 option is right for me?
The right GLP-1 medication depends on a variety of factors including your personal health history and weight-loss goals. Other considerations of choosing a GLP-1 may include how you administer it (tablet vs. injectable), how often the medication is used, how it’s tolerated and how much it costs out of pocket. Your healthcare provider can help you find the option best suited for you.
Explore multiple weight-management care options at Walgreens, including convenient virtual healthcare visits, trusted pharmacist support and educational resources to help you along the way. You can talk to a doctor or nurse practitioner online to understand options available.
You can learn more about GLP-1s here. Looking for a specific GLP-1? Click to learn more about Wegovy (oral and injectable), Zepbound and Foundayo.
- Can I get prescribed GLP-1s online?
Yes, you can see a doctor or nurse practitioner online with Walgreens Virtual Healthcare by clicking here. During your Walgreens Weight Management visit, you’ll complete a questionnaire to determine if you meet the eligibility requirements for a weight-loss consultation, based on your body mass index (BMI) and any weight-related health conditions. If eligible, a healthcare provider will create a personalized weight-management treatment plan with you.
If you are on Medicare, you may be eligible for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program, which provides access to FDA-approved GLP-1 weight-loss medications for $50 per month. Eligibility requirements apply, including Medicare coverage and clinical criteria.
- Already have a prescription and want to fill it at Walgreens?
If you already have a GLP-1 prescription, ask your healthcare provider to send it to Walgreens or transfer an existing prescription from another pharmacy. You can start your transfer online or contact your local Walgreens pharmacy for assistance. Medication availability and insurance coverage may vary.
The price of your medication depends on your insurance coverage, pharmacy benefits and medication availability. Eligible patients may be able to use a manufacturer savings card to lower their out-of-pocket cost. Savings card eligibility, terms and restrictions vary by medication. Visit Walgreens Rx Savings finder to search for manufacturer’s savings cards. You can also contact your local Walgreens pharmacy for a personalized price estimate.
- How much do GLP-1 medications and related services cost?
Costs vary by medication, dosage, insurance coverage and services used. Walgreens Weight Management does not require a subscription. Initial video visits, follow-up chat visits and additional video visits are $49 each. Medication costs are separate from clinician visit fees.

- What products can help support my weight-loss journey while using a GLP-1?
GLP-1 medications work best for weight-loss when paired with lifestyle changes including diet and exercise. These medicines work by reducing your appetite so meeting nutritional goals such as protein and fiber, staying hydrated, and avoiding muscle loss are important. While managing through diet is best, products can help to support your wellness, help fill nutrition gaps, and help you feel better if you have side effects. As always, check with your healthcare provider before starting any new over-the-counter products or supplements.
