- My pharmacy location is closing. What do I need to do to fill my prescription at another Walgreens?
We’ll make it as easy as possible to continue receiving your prescription at Walgreens.
If you refill your prescription in person or by phone, you can find a new pharmacy location here.
When refilling your prescription online or in the app, you will be asked to change your pickup location, or you can choose Rx delivery once your prescription is in your cart.
Manage Auto Refills to change your pickup location and see which prescriptions are currently on Auto Refill. If you have not already chosen a new Walgreens pharmacy for Auto Refills by the time the store closes, we will automatically fill those prescriptions at another nearby Walgreens pharmacy. If your prescriptions are enrolled in Save a Trip Refills® and you have not already chosen a new pharmacy, we will automatically set up Save a Trip Refills for your eligible prescriptions at a nearby Walgreens pharmacy. If you have questions or need to change your preferred pickup location, please call 833-SAVE-TRIP (833-728-3874). Customer service is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET.

- How can I start picking up my prescriptions at a different Walgreens location before my store closes?
You can change your Walgreens prescription pickup location at any time.
For new prescriptions, please ask your provider to send it to your preferred Walgreens location.
If you are refilling online, in the app, or by scanning, you can change your pickup location once your prescription is in your cart.
For prescriptions on Auto Refill, you can manage Auto Refills online.
If you’re enrolled in Save a Trip Refills®, call 833-SAVE-TRIP (833-728-3874) to update your pickup location. Customer service is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET.
You can also call or visit your preferred Walgreens to request a refill.
- I have a prescription ready for pickup at a pharmacy that is closing. What happens if I don’t pick it up before that pharmacy closes permanently?
If you were unable to pick up your filled prescription before your pharmacy closed permanently, please call or visit any local Walgreens about getting your prescription refilled. You can also request a refill of that prescription online or in the app.
- The nearest Walgreens is inconvenient for me. Can I get my prescription delivered to my home or pick up my prescriptions less frequently?
Yes. Eligible prescriptions can be delivered to your home, or you may be able to request a 90-day supply.
Rx Delivery
Most prescriptions are eligible for delivery; however, some prescriptions may be ineligible for this service (e.g., controlled substances, temperature-controlled prescriptions or prescriptions paid for by certain insurance plans or healthcare programs). Take fewer trips to the pharmacy with a three-month supply of medication — plus possible copay savings — if your prescriptions qualify for 90-day refills. Talk to your Walgreens pharmacist about switching to a 90-day supply or choose “Request a 90-day supply” when refilling online.- I have prescriptions set up to Auto Refill. Will my refills continue?
Yes. Once your store closes, your Auto Refills will automatically be filled at a nearby Walgreens pharmacy. You may edit your Auto Refill pickup location at any time here: Manage Auto Refills.
- How do I know if I have prescriptions on Auto Refill?
You can see which prescriptions are currently on Auto Refill or eligible for Auto Refill in your pharmacy account.
- I have prescriptions in the Save a Trip Refills® program. Will my refills continue?
Yes. Your Save a Trip Refills®will continue at a nearby Walgreens pharmacy. Your new location was shared with you in a letter and is posted in the closing pharmacy. To change your refill location, please call 833-SAVE-TRIP (833-728-3874). Customer service is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET.
- How do I know if I’ve signed up for Save a Trip Refills®?

- I set up ExpressPay for my prescriptions. Will this still work now that my store is closed?
Yes. Your ExpressPay payment method will continue to be available for prescription payment as long as you have a valid credit card enrolled in the program.
- How does this store closure affect my family’s prescriptions?
Just like for your own prescriptions, you can manage family prescriptions online or in the Walgreens app. You can find more information in the Family Prescriptions section of our Help Center.
- Will I continue to get prescription status notifications from my new store?
Yes. If you’re currently receiving Rx emails or text alerts, these reminders will continue unless you opt out. If you would like to enroll in Rx text alerts, simply text “JoinRx” to 21525. Message and data rates may apply. View your communication preferences here.
- How can I learn more about the services offered at Walgreens locations near me?

- Do I need to update my insurance because my store is closing?
No. The insurance information that you have provided is on file at all Walgreens locations.
- How will my specialty medications be impacted?
If you are taking specialty medications, Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy will continue to be your complete source for effective specialty pharmacy solutions, from personalized patient support services to medication management programs for health plans. If your Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy location is closing, you will receive a call directly from a Walgreens specialty pharmacist. If you have any questions, please call our Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy retail support center at 888-782-8443, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET.
- I have a prescription for a controlled substance medication. Will this automatically be transferred to another Walgreens after my regular Walgreens closes?
Due to certain legal restrictions, we may not be able to automatically transfer your controlled substance medication to a new Walgreens pharmacy. Please talk to a Walgreens pharmacy team member about how to manage your specific prescription.
- How do I create a pharmacy account online to manage my prescriptions?
Creating a Walgreens digital pharmacy account is easy! Start here: Pharmacy Account Creation. You will be guided through each step of the account creation process. Once your online pharmacy account is active, you will have access to manage your prescriptions online and via the Walgreens app.

- I have prescriptions set up to Auto Refill. Will my refills continue?

2 Prescription Delivery:
- Same Day Rx Delivery: Available for eligible prescriptions. Most prescription orders, placed 2 hours prior to pharmacy closure and no later than 7 pm, are available for same day home delivery. Please note that while most prescriptions are expected to be delivered same day, some prescriptions may not be eligible for delivery due to prescription type, delivery address, holidays, weather, or other delivery constraints. Certain health plans do not cover, or participate in, Same Day Rx Delivery. Check with your health plan for further details. Other restrictions may apply.
- 1-2 day delivery: Available for eligible prescriptions. Most prescription orders are available for home delivery in 1-2 business days. Orders received by 10 a.m. on Friday, as well as requests made during the weekend, for 1-2 day delivery have an expected delivery day of Wednesday. Prescriptions are not delivered on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays. Please note that while most prescriptions are expected to be delivered in 1-2 business days, some prescriptions may not be eligible for delivery due to prescription type, delivery address, holidays, weather, or other delivery constraints. Certain health plans do not cover, or participate in, Same Day Rx Delivery. Check with your health plan for further details. Free delivery available for a limited time only and excludes same-day delivery. Other restrictions may apply.
