Christmas Cookies: Do the Math and Cut in Half

Christmas Cookies: Do the Math and Cut in Half

Some family traditions are sacred — fiddling with the amount of sugar in Grandma's gingerbread or using whole-wheat flour in Aunt Sally's sugar cookies might just land you a stocking full of coal. What you can do without causing so much as a raised eyebrow, however, is shrink them. Simply use half the required amount of dough for each piece; the mini cookies will require less cooking time so keep an eye on the oven. An added bonus: You’ll double the number of cookies your recipe turns out. While the overall nutrition profile doesn’t change, you get to indulge in a whole cookie for half the calories.

Don’t think that a smaller snack can be just as satisfying? This study proves it.
