9V batteries are the powerhouses that supply the power to the most important battery-powered devices in your home and office. Smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, cordless phones, photo equipment and blood pressure testers are among the devices that are operated by 9V batteries. Using powerful alkaline or lithium batteries is the best way to make sure your device works properly for as long as possible. Make sure you have spare 9V batteries on hand at all times, especially if your smoke detector requires a 9V battery.

Types of Nine Volt Batteries

The powerful devices and appliances of today require either alkaline or longer-lasting lithium 9v batteries to ensure proper operation. Newer lithium 9V batteries are especially recommended to keep your smoke detector running as long as possible without having to replace the batteries. Remember to keep extra batteries with you whenever you take your camera with you on vacation.

Replacing 9V Batteries

Keep track when you install a new battery in your smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, or medical device such as a blood glucose testers tester or blood pressure meter. While most devices notify you when a battery becomes weak, you should replace batteries in these devices when the manufacturer's instructions advises. Do not use 9V batteries that have passed the expiration date marked on the batteries.
